My husband and I had dinner here this evening. I ordered Alaskan Whitefish, cabbage, pinto beans and hush puppies. The fish had an amazing coating, it was very flavorful, but not overwhelming, the fish was flaky, and cooked to perfection. I Loved the hush puppies. My husband ordered meat loaf, cabbage, pinto beans, and collard greens. He really enjoyed his meat loaf, and collard greens, we both liked our cabbage. This was honestly the best meal I've had out in a while. We will definitely be eating here again while we are in town. I wish I had taken pictures. read more

Food was terrible my rodeo burger was over cooked my fries were burned and over seasoned to hide the burned taste my wife's fish was burned and tater tots were burned as well the my daughter got sick from the chicken fingers being raw and pasty her corn was bland the bathroom was inaccessible due to lack of space the waitress was nice but the kitchen crew was vulgar and didn't change gloves after handling all different foods store smelled bad its obvious the only reason the place is popular is location and lack of real competition in the small town wouldn't recommend to any family. Grilled cheese burger and the shaved ham and cheese sandwich were good. The mashed potatoes and gravy would have been decent if it was warm but for some reason they came out cold. Everything else came out hot. The restaurant has a decent variety on the menu. I was a little bummed that they were out of tater tots but the fries were quite tasty and not at all overly greasy. The service by Cadee was FANTASTIC. For two people to eat with coke drinks, our bill was $30.00. So like all places right now, it's a little costly but comparable in price to most restaurants. We came here twice on different trips. First time, It was fine. Only the grilled cabage side really shone, though the pork tenderloin was pretty dang good. Meatloaf was fine, as was the peach cobbler. Second trip through we ordered differently. The hamburger steak was on special, now with brown gravy. MMM. Get that. My wife enjoyed her hamburger. Came to Damascus to do the Virginia Creeper Trail and stopped in for lunch. Before entering you can view the menu on the outside wall. We were greeted and sat immediately. There are about ten tables most seating four but they can also push tables together for a larger group. There is a TV mounted on the wall if you want to watch while you are dining. We ordered the tuna salad with chips, barbecue lunch plate, tree hugger salad, and fish plate. All of it was delicious and the portions are more like dinner portions but that's probably all relative to what your perception is. The atmosphere is casual and the servers were very friendly. There are lots of restaurants in this area but we definitely recommend this one. read more

We had the special for dinner, grilled seasoned moist chicken breast, topped with bacon, on a bed of perfectly tender, crisp, broccoli; Food sensitivities precluded the cheese sauce that would normally come on the chicken breast, however. It came with a roll as well, and two sides, we chose collards and the fried cabbage. Fried cabbage was just awesome, I think it was Fried in bacon grease which made it so yummy. Staff super friendly with lots of smiles. This is a small, downtown place. it's not fancy... little square tables & chairs to sit at, and you can see the cook working behind the counter. Because it's not a fancy place, this is the reason it does not get rated a 5 but it sure is a nice, hometown spot with quality food, and a surprising amount of variety on the menu. Ate here 2 years ago as I finished a section hike on the AT. I was really hungry and remember being satisfied by the food and beer. Not this time. I really looked at and tasted the food this time. Cheapest ingredients I have ever seen. Dirty restaurant. Poor service. The owner and manager obviously do not care about quality thinking people will eat whatever is served. Will not return.
