Beautiful cozy family run restaurant. Today I grabbed only Tabula and fried kubba but let me tell you. Kubba was fried to perfection, crispy thin shell filled with absolutely amazing and flavorful ground beef. Tabula is full of flavor, fresh and crisp. Definitely recommend!!!!!!

I ordered Damascus Style Kabob Hindi -- it's pieces of beef kabob smothered in delicious sautéed tomato, and topped with toasted pine nuts. The dish is an interesting take on the kabob-and-roasted-tomato plate usually served elsewhere. I found the sautéed tomato a bit too acidic but nevertheless tasty as paired with the kabob. I just wish there were more kabob pieces in the entrée. It came with a side of basmati rice, also topped with roasted pine nuts. It was delicious but I would be happier with a larger portion. Bassam (I think that's how you spell his name) was very friendly and attentive when we were placing our orders. The service was very good. The ambiance is unmistakably Middle Eastern, with the decor that draws from the Ottoman heritage. It was a quiet lunch as there were only two tables of customers present during our visit. Visit this place if you would like to explore a different twist to the usual kabob dishes.

We were recommended this place by a local. When we finally went to checkout the place we were glad we checked demascus' out. The food is fresh and delightful. The restaurant and their restrooms were very clean. We for lunch but will be back for their dinner buffet. I think the owner said it's $40, but please call to confirm. The couple that owns the place were absolutely lovely. Also its got beautiful decor. This place made us smile and satisfied our appetite.

We ate maqadem, Elsanat, Karaen and Fetta all was delicious.. fetta was little bet salty but still very tasty.. service was very good and the server checked on us multiple time.. the Arabic ambiance is very present in the whole restaurant.. we drove 21 miles to try these dishes and it was worth it

    A good customer and friend.

We came here for Ramadan and I will say I was impressed and excited to try everything. As a Syrian-American, I appreciated all the options offered for the buffet and looking forward to trying other dishes in the future. The staff/family clearly enjoy and appreciate the work they do and I think that's always refreshing to see. The ambience is beautiful and well spaced. My only *slight* issue that I think is important to bring attention to the owner is that we found hard pistachio shell in the baklava dessert and it caused one of my family member's tooth implant to break. It's fine because it's easily repairable, however, I think just some caution when preparing these desserts. Overall, I'm happy to see a Syrian restaurant in OC and we will be back!

It's only about 7 minutes from the parks, making it the perfect lunch or dinner spot if you're craving something flavorful that won't leave you feeling heavy. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The spinach pastry was hands down my favorite, perfectly flaky with a delicious savory filling. The potato pastry was a close second and just as satisfying. If you visit, don't skip the pastries! We also tried the steak and chicken kebab combo plate, and both were cooked perfectly. The chicken was especially tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. You can actually watch the meat being cooked fresh in the back, which made the whole experience feel even more authentic. I ordered the veggie plate with falafel, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, hummus, and tahini sauce, and every single item was delicious. The falafel really stood out. It had a perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior with a soft, flavorful center. Dipping it into the baba ganoush, hummus, and tahini made every bite even better. One of my favorite things was that the meal was incredibly satisfying without feeling greasy or overly heavy. It was fresh, filling, and packed with flavor, but I still felt great afterward. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, and the service was impressively fast. They also have a great selection of Mediterranean spices if you want to bring some of those incredible flavors home. Huge compliments to the chef and the entire team. Between the fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent service, Zait Zataar has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite Mediterranean restaurants. I placed an online order for the baked fish plate around 12:45 PM and expected a bit of a wait since it was fish. After waiting about 25 minutes, I called and was told it would be another 10-15 minutes. The restaurant was busy, so I understood. However, after waiting longer and checking inside twice, my order still wasn't ready and there seemed to be confusion about its status. In total, I waited close to an hour for an order that was placed online in advance. What bothered me most was seeing customers who ordered in person receive their food before me. It felt like my online order had been overlooked. If online ordering is offered, those orders should be monitored and fulfilled properly, especially during busy times. The food itself was good, but the plate could have been put together better. The fries were placed directly on top of the fish, which made them soggy and took away from the presentation. It would make much more sense to serve the fries on the side. Overall, the food is still good, but the long wait, confusion with the online order, and lack of attention to presentation make me hesitant to rely on the online ordering system again.

My former boss was from Syria and came highly recommended, but never made the drive down. At this point, I'm counting the days until we return here again, because everything is fresh, flavourful, and vibrant. Here's what we ordered: Sampler - Housemade hummus was spectacular, the baba ghanouj was so savory and a bit smokey, and the falafel was warm, wonderfully spiced and not dry at all. I also HAD to try the kibbeh, never had before - amazing, so delicate, light, not overfried or oily at all. The spices inside were so wonderful, especially when pairing with some of the dips. Mixed grill : The meat was exceptionally good, tender, perfectly grilled, and juicy. The rice was fluffy, buttery, and fragrant. Mixed seafood grill: Delectable. The fish was beautiful grilled and lightly spiced to allow the delicate fish to shine through. I am no expert at this type of cuisine, but I've eaten plenty of Middle Eastern and Armenian food, and you really can't go wrong with rice and grilled meats - it's in our blood! PS: I personally love a bit of sumac on my rice and meat, lovely, bright, sour note that is very pleasing with this food. Thank you for the wonderful service and amazing food. We loved it. I wish we had this exact place in South OC.
