We were a party of 4, ordered the food and almost immediately got the appetizers, we also asked for a couple other items that were not on the menu, and we got them immediatly and they did not even charge. The main dishes came 15-20 minutes after and was superb taste, if you want home cooked style food .... This is the place. We decided to give this place a try after seeing it for a while - I am so glad we did! The falafel was fried to perfection. It was crunchy af on the outside, soft on the inside, and was not dry at all. The hummus that comes with this plate was really good too. The kufta kabob was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I came here with my two friends and brother at 6:20 pm on a Wednesday and was excited because I love supporting small business and was recommended to come here by an acquaintance. There was probably 2 parties that were seated when we came but the inside was beautifully decorated and the smell of Mediterranean food just permeated throughout the entire restaurant. We ordered a platter with chicken and beef skewers along with a salad and a platter of their shawarma. The food did. It come out until passed 8:30 pm. At this point we were all extremely hungry and I just felt really weak from hunger. They are short staffed with only one chef cooking for everyone and the owner (I believe) was trying to serve everyone in addition to a guy that was there to take photos for the business's marketing needs. The shawarma - 1.5/5 the outside crust tasted either it was old or over cooked. The bite took much more work in order to break and chew. We got the chicken for the entire table and the chicken was very dry. The savor on that dish was the French fries and the homemade sauce in the side. The kabobs - 2/5 the beef shawarma I would say is fine, but didn't taste like anything special the chicken was mildly on the dry side; however, the sauces and hummus saved the dish. I will say the salad of that dish was the ultimate hero. I would probably just order that and nothing else. I hope this gets taken as a feedback or improvement, I may consider coming back far into the future in hopes they better their quality. read more

I ordered Damascus Style Kabob Hindi -- it's pieces of beef kabob smothered in delicious sautéed tomato, and topped with toasted pine nuts. The dish is an interesting take on the kabob-and-roasted-tomato plate usually served elsewhere. I found the sautéed tomato a bit too acidic but nevertheless tasty as paired with the kabob. I just wish there were more kabob pieces in the entrée. It came with a side of basmati rice, also topped with roasted pine nuts. It was delicious but I would be happier with a larger portion. Bassam (I think that's how you spell his name) was very friendly and attentive when we were placing our orders. The service was very good. The ambiance is unmistakably Middle Eastern, with the decor that draws from the Ottoman heritage. It was a quiet lunch as there were only two tables of customers present during our visit. We were recommended this place by a local. When we finally went to checkout the place we were glad we checked demascus' out. The food is fresh and delightful. The restaurant and their restrooms were very clean. We for lunch but will be back for their dinner buffet. I think the owner said it's $40, but please call to confirm. We came here for Ramadan and I will say I was impressed and excited to try everything. As a Syrian-American, I appreciated all the options offered for the buffet and looking forward to trying other dishes in the future. The staff/family clearly enjoy and appreciate the work they do and I think that's always refreshing to see. The ambience is beautiful and well spaced. My only *slight* issue that I think is important to bring attention to the owner is that we found hard pistachio shell in the baklava dessert and it caused one of my family member's tooth implant to break. I saw this place the last time I went to Sababa and I told my mom about it and she's like well let's check it out! So we did just that; it was my mom, my 1 year old, and me! It was very decorated beautifully. We were able to have the stroller at the table which I prefer. We got my daughter a cup of lentil soup and she enjoyed it very much. We got a hummus to share and I got a dish with tomato's and ground beef and my mom got grilled chicken. The chicken was very soft! Both plates came with a side of rice. The best item there is in fact the mint lemonade (it tastes like a mojito just without the alcohol). I look forward to returning to try the salmon offered and other appetizers. This restaurant behind Sababa Falafel caught my Syrian husband's eye. All the dishes that we ordered were amazing! Very authentic Syrian food that made my husband homesick. We even tried a dish that was not on the menu, that the owner suggested, and it was delicious! The service is beyond excellent and the waiter was super attentive. The atmosphere was pretty, with pictures of Damascus all around, hanging fanoos lanterns from the ceiling, a running fountain in the center of the restaurant, and they dimmed the lighting and added a candle on our table. Family was super excited to try after we saw an instagram review and the online photos. While the service was good, the food unfortunately fell short of our expectations. We ordered a variety of things: Kibbeh trio, muhamara, mixed grilled meats, harak osbao, chicken shawarma, cheese roll, borek lahme and borek cheese. The Good: Muhamara was good, nice spice and not too chunky or creamy. Chicken shawarma is not traditional "shawarma" meat off the spinning siekh but the spices in the marinade were great. Cheese rolls were also delicious. The Average: The borek lahme and cheese tasted good, but unfortunately were cold in the center. The grilled meats were sadly not how they appeared in any photo we saw online, they were okay but nothing to rave about. The harak osbao was okay, but has too much pomegranate molasses and made the whole thing way too sweet. The Bad: The most disappointing by far was the kibbeh, specifically the grilled kibbeh. This was the reason we were convinced to come here- the photos looked absolutely delicious. Unfortunately it was a big letdown. read more
