I wanted us to leave with a better understanding of the procedure, what to expect, and how to confidently move forward. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Instead, my daughter and I both left the appointment feeling defeated, afraid, and anxious about what should be a routine surgical procedure. Jessica, the PA, repeatedly used words such as "risk" and "complications" when speaking with my 18-year-old daughter, who was already nervous about having surgery. I understand that every surgical procedure has potential risks, and I absolutely believe patients should be properly informed. However, there is a significant difference between appropriately educating a patient about risks and communicating in a way that creates unnecessary fear and anxiety. At one point, I questioned Jessica about the choice of language she was using because I could see the impact it was having on my daughter. It was difficult to understand why the conversation seemed to focus so heavily on everything that could potentially go wrong rather than providing a balanced explanation of the benefits, the expected recovery, the actual likelihood of complications, and what steps would be taken to keep my daughter safe. My daughter is an 18-year-old young woman who came into this appointment already nervous. She needed information, reassurance, and an opportunity to ask questions without feeling as though she was being frightened away from a procedure she had been referred for. We understand that informed consent requires discussing risks. However, patients--especially young adults facing their first surgery--also deserve compassionate communication and reassurance. The way information is presented matters. We left the appointment with more fear and uncertainty than we had when we arrived, and that is extremely disappointing. A consultation should empower a patient to make an informed decision, not leave them feeling terrified about moving forward. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that greater consideration is given to how surgical risks and complications are communicated to young patients. There is a way to be honest about the risks while still being compassionate, balanced, and reassuring.

I was kept waiting for 2 hours for my appointment. This is a one doctor shop, so keeping their…read morepatients waiting for two hours seems like poor scheduling practice. I was told I didn't need a hearing test prior to coming in for my appointment (this was a contrast to other ENT doctors that told me to get a hearing test first). When I came in, the doctor ran some simple tests, but told me I'd need a hearing test before he could determine anything. Now I have to schedule the hearing test and come back, causing me an extra appointment. This was a complete waste of my time. Besides being a seemingly poorly run office that doesn't value their patients time, the doctor does not speak English well, uses very outdated equipment (the equipment literally looks like it's from the 70s, and he couldn't keep the chair light on (it kept flickering off) when he was examining my ear). Most offensively, the doctor put forth no effort to explain why my symptoms might be occurring, or possible long-term effects. I left no more knowledgeable or better off than I came in. I will be taking my hearing test and finding a new ENT.

Surgery was a success!…read more Provider: Dr. Wong, MD thoroughly listens and doesn't dismiss your concerns. June 2026 (first visit), we went through my child's medical history in the first visit. He examined them and came up with a treatment plan. We were able to book surgery for the next month (July). Much sooner than I expected but I was grateful because I wanted it done before school started. I was concerned he may wanted to spread out procedures but he stated he would be able to get all procedures done in one day. Provider office: The waiting area is small. There's a tv, so there's at least some entertainment. However, seating can be scarce. Thankfully, we were able to get seating but patients that came in after us did have to stand. If this may be an issue for you, I would recommend booking during less busy times--like during work and school hours. The seating area was tidy and there were no bad smells, for those who may be sensitive to smells like I am. Front desk: Mrs. Shirley was very kind. She had to multi-task and was still efficient. Wait time: We only had one visit so far but between filling out new patient forms and providing insurance information, we didn't have to wait long. Exam room: The exam room was spacious enough to fit a few family members. Tidy and no odd smells. Surgery (July 2026): Dr. Wong performs his surgeries at Adventist HealthCare Surgery Center in Oxon Hill, MD. Check in was seamless and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Dr. Wong had a few surgeries scheduled, so our surgery slot was delayed. Since my child couldn't eat or drink, this was a challenge because they were complaining about being hungry. I was still grateful the doctor was able to squeeze us into his surgery schedule so this was not a deal breaker for us. After surgery, Dr. Wong advised us on what to expect for recovery and what to do. It has now been about a month since surgery and recovery went well and the surgery was a great success! My child had one of the procedures done with another provider in January 2026, which did not go as planned. Dr. Wong did a procedure the previous provider was reluctant to do. So thankful Dr. Wong is as skilled and dedicated to providing his patients relief because my child's primary concern is now resolved. They are sleeping and breathing better now. My only gripe is the online patient portal. It leaves a lot to be desired. It's a bit outdated and communication through the portal can be missed. I requested a follow up appointment and haven't heard back from the office yet. I'll be calling instead. Not a deal breaker, considering Dr. Wong is a fantastic doctor/surgeon--but it would be nice to have a more proficient way to communicate with staff, schedule appointments and access medical records.

She did a test that eliminated one possible cause of my vertigo, and I left with a prescription that I filled at the pharmacy next door.
