We went to Murano and Burano, the later being a fantastic little village of 250 people absolutely charming and worth the effort about 30 minutes from Venice. A short 6 minutes later and we were in Treporti. Our guide and driver took us to Antica Dogana a superb, charming restaurant for lunch. We arrived about 2:00 and we're greeted by Giuseppe the owner and his wife Martina. This is an amazing place and worth the trip. First, the name represents its heritage. Dogana means Custom House, or where taxes are collected. The building was built in the 1800's-- and houses the restaurant. Large patio in front for sea views. Mauricio, our driver, recommended the sea bass and after we were seated, and after ordering local white wine, we asked for recommendations from Martina-- the sea bass is covered in salt and baked. We ordered it and loved it. Had a raw seafood mix first and enjoyed local catch- a lazy 2 hour lunch. I added some pics-- loved this place. Not A tourist trap. Felt like Italy and being local. Giuseppe made us feel welcome and we truly enjoyed this experience.

To get some more snacks, some more spleen of course and also to try the fried seafood. And this one was the only let-down. Compared to other restaurants in town the fried seafood was a bit too soft, not crispy enough. Not bad, but not great. Still, overall this place is excellent. A fun place to hang out, grab a couple of drinks and some nice and easy food. And the whole evening did cost less than 50 Euros. Great deal. And right in the middle of all the action. Be aware that they close quite early around 9pm. Surely we'll be back one day.
