We got to this restaurant because of its high rating on Google Maps. And it turned out true. We got there on Sunday night, at about 8 o'clock or even later. That's why some of the dishes we initially wanted were out. However, what we got was wonderful. I had beef in red wine sauce, which was super juicy and delicious. My husband had fettuccine with duck and was extremely pleased with his choice. We ordered half a liter of house wine, which was very good and finished off with crème brûlée, which was prepared, literally at the table. And to make our evening even more pleasant, there was a live music with a nice guitar player singing crowd favorites. I went to Italy in search of the wondrous pasta, and when this one restaurant didn't open when it was supposed to, I ran into this one that opened instead. I'm really glad it did, because I didn't want to leave Venezia without trying squid ink pasta. I've asked them to make the pasta more cooked than al dente, and it was definitely accomplished without losing some chew. The sauce which you can't see well in the picture was very light, and I just loved the sauce with the scallops which were overcooked. I ended up eating most of the pasta. The house salad was very much needed when I've been missing vegetables in my life. Since meals don't have as much veggies in them, a fresh salad was much necessary. The produce was fresh, and it wasn't overly dressed. I finally got to try an Italian dessert at this restaurant because I've been killed with big portions on entrees and appetizers in other places. So in lieu of appetizers, I made room for dessert and found the berry cheesecake really tasty (not as sweet as some other sweets I've tried in Italy... thank God!). The service here was highly attentive, and my server who also appears to be a manager didn't mind that I was party of one. She recommended a white wine from Lugano that went perfectly with my meal. She wanted me to take my time although the restaurant was full. I love the lack of pressure to finish my food and move on. I hope to be able to come back one day and try their pizza. Absolutely loved A Le Tole. We ordered the Seafood platter, 2 pizzas, the black squid pasta and they were all delicious. We had semifreddo and tiramisu for dessert - yum yum x2! Our waiter was friendly and funny and the live entertainment on guitar was on point blasting age appropriate bangers. Add a bottle of wine and it was our best meal in Italy so far and that includes some nice restaurants in Rome. Highly recommend! Prices are reasonable for the experience and quality. Sometimes words cannot fully convey how much you enjoyed a meal. This is one of those experiences. Some of the best gluten free pizza I've ever had (and I've tried a lot in the US and Europe). Absolutely delicious and high quality ingredients. This restaurant is in a bit less crowded area, but it's highly worth the detour to try their pizza. I had the A Le Tore pizza. It's rich, but delicious. Honestly, it's almost hard to believe the crust was gluten free. One note. They only have gluten free pizza, not pasta. We visited Venice on a day trip and checked out the local food scene with yelp and came across this place, and we dropped by for a quick lunch. After many twists and turns, we found this restaurant. After a long decision process (in which the waiters weren't very helpful with) we decided on the Squid pasta and the Black and White Squid Ink pasta. Overall the pasta was alright, but definitely over priced. While the Squid pasta was good, the Black and White Pasta the wife ordered was extremely Bitter, which we weren't sure was supposed to happen. A fantastic find, all thanks to Yelp. I love squid ink pasta. A swimming pool full of it would be my last meal. Rarely have I had a forkful which didn't elicit an improper degree of arousal. That's the baseline. And then there's A Le Tole. I never imagined I'd enjoy a black pasta more than the pasta at Joso's in Toronto. A Le Tole is beyond imagination. Granted, the sauce is entirely different than Joso's. This isn't a squid ink sauce, it's a squid ink pasta. The sauce itself had a deeper seafood flavour, more intense olive oil, and a viscosity that imagine is the product of adding butter and flour to juices left behind by the scallop. I don't know, I'm not a chef, but I do know that this pasta was one of the best I've had in recent memory. Whenever I experience a great painting, film, passage in a book, and - yes - food, I let out a sigh. I sigh because whatever it is I'm experience is beautiful and satisfying. BEST MEAL I HAD IN ITALY!!! COME HERE IF YOU CAN! So glad I stumbled upon this quaint restaurant in Venice. We luckily landed reservations the same day for 9pm that night. When you walk in, there was live music playing and cozy cute lights everywhere. Very romantic! The place is small, so make sure to get your reservations!! I had a reservation for one and when I came in, they started to get a table ready for me and then said, "actually we have a reservation for this table. Are you okay if we put you here?" And it was the worst table in the entire restaurant. Right up front. By the piano. Literally touching the piano. But the table that was free was for 4 people and I was just 1 so I said of course. Next thing I know, I'm sitting at this table, facing the wall, and they split the table of 4 into 2 tables of 2 and sat a couple at one of them. I was going to ask about moving to the other but then people came in who knew the workers so they (of course) got the table. I'm not knocking that at all!! What I want to focus on is the way I was treated as a one person table. They would come over to me and basically talk to me like I was a child. I didn't have one consistent waiter, I had about 3. And yes, the food was good, but what does that mean when the experience was so horrendous? I understand the strangeness of a singular person out to eat for dinner, but there's no reason to act like they're an alien dropped onto planet earth for the first time. My friends and I came across A Le Tole on our first night in Venice. Upon arriving we noticed the laid back atmosphere and the food. What captivated us most was the pasta and pizza on the front windows, fresh made pasta and pizza, we couldn't beat that. Being that we arrived at 7pm, the restaurant was booked for dinner. Luckily, the wait ended up being only 25 min(reasonable). The service was quick, we got our orders taken immediately. I ordered the Potatoes Pizza and my friends had pasta. The food was to die for, who would of thought to put French fries on a pizza (delicious). I paired it with 1 of their only 2 beer options for the night and couldn't be happier. We had dinner at A Le Tole tonight after reading a number of positive Yelp reviews. The reviews were spot on. This is a great place with a terrific atmosphere and even better tasting food. We were greeted with enthusiasm and seated promptly, even if it was slightly before their posted dining hours. Our order was taken quickly and the food was dispensed even faster. You would think with the quick efficiency that the food would be lacking but it wasn't. The presentation and taste of the food was outstanding. We started off with the cheese, mushroom and honey drizzle appetizer. It was one of the tastiest dishes we've had in all of the Venice. For our only main course we had both of the calzones, and they were the best we've had in all of Italy. We ended our dining experience with the Tiramisu desert which was exquisitely delicious. Located a little off the beaten path in the heart of Venice is A Le Tole. My wife and I were staying at an Airbnb and the owners highly recommended this place, so we came on the last night of our stay in Venice. It has a very laid back atmosphere. They have fresh made pasta in the front window and you can smell the wonderful food before you even enter. We were immediately seated. We were told that told we could get the pizza right away or we could wait 30 minutes to get the pasta. There is live music and restrooms you don't have to pay for in the back. My wife got the pizza and I got the seafood pasta. The wine is inexpensive since you are in Italy of course and extremely good. We got 500 ml of wine (3 glasses of wine each) and it only cost 8 euros. The service was quick, the waiters spoke English and the food was excellent. It cost 40 euros for everything. I was also not-so-stoked to be seated in the dark corner of the restaurant. Poor luck? Maybe. However, the rate of service and the food itself definitely made up for everything. My friend and I were served extremely fast (one might question if they were trying to get us out of there) but I've no complaints as I was quickly aquatinted with a HEARTY pasta dish with a duck meat sauce. In a city full of tourist traps, this restaurant is a true gem. Each dish we ordered was fantastic and unique, I have never had anything like it. We went earlier in the evening and were able to get a table for three right away. We started with a very simple marinara pizza, only tomato sauce and garlic. After the pizza we were quickly served three pasta dishes. We had no idea the meal could get better, but it did. The gnocchi ragu was perfectly cooked, with the sauce on the slightly sweeter side. We ordered their black pasta with scallops and it was fantastic, the scallops were very well cooked and the pasta itself was perfectly al dente. We also ordered the veal cheek pappardelle and this dish was truly a star. The veal was very well cooked and paired beautifully with the homemade pasta. As I write this review I am frantically attempting to fit another stop at this restaurant into my schedule, it is that good. The only complaint I have is that the wait staff was not necessarily courteous, but they still did their job well. Even with this, the food was so good that nothing could outshine it. Here's a tip research your dinner around lunch and make a reservation right away. Me and my Girlfriend fell asleep after a long day of walking and sight seeing. When I woke up I asked her which restaurant she wanted to go to she meant this one but we called another, so when we got there obviously they had no name on the list. We told the hostess who I believe is the owner what happened and she told us to come back in about 25 mins and she would be ready for us. We went and checked out San Paolo and relaxed, when we went back she had out table waiting. Right off the bat the service was impeccable. This was honestly one of the best meals we had in the city, I don't even want to sugar coat it, some reviews tell you some places are good and you go and you're always like what the hell were they thinking. So we were starving yep, tummies rumbling, hangry, ready to destroy. And I am telling you this food not only hit the spot but the flavours and care put into it was perfect. First we had a caprasse salad, I could knock the fact they only used grape tomatoes, and that the basil wasn't taken off the branches but then I would be nit picking, the cheese was so soft and fresh it blew my little mind. Next I had the Al la tolle pizza and I am not use to truffle oil, but it was delicious and again the Buffalo cheese was so soft and flavourful, the crust was thin and perfectly cooked, it was complex and yet heavenly. My girlfriend had some kind of black spaghetti with some fish in it, I tried a couple bites and it was equally as good.
