We ate in here last night for the first time. I got take away once a long long time ago, like 5-6 years or so. It is a divey bar/Irish pub. There was music playing the whole time but not loud at all - loud enough you could hear it but it didn't impede upon your conversations in the slightest. And by the way the music they had playing last night (Tuesday Feb 10 2026) was EXCELLENT!! I felt like I was at a bar from my youth with that soundtrack. We started with 2 appetizers, pub pretzels and the Celtic queso dip. The pretzels came with honey mustard and some of the queso. The Celtic queso has tortillas and what appeared to be house made potato chips. Both were very good! The 2 adults had some beer on tap. A Yeungling and a 201 Hoplar. Kid (well he is 21 but doesn't drink) had a coke. Entrees were a smash burger with fries, a Buffalo chicken sliders with onion rings, and a shepherds pie with mashed potatoes and gravy and okra. Everything was very good! Often fried things are either over or under done and come out not great however whoever was working the fryer was on it because the onion didn't pull out of the rings when you bit it and the okra was still nice inside the breading. Deeeeeelicious and fun. We had never eaten in here although we'd talked about it dozens of times. (I think we picked up here once many years ago but I don't have strong memories of it.) But I was super impressed with the quality of the food! I expected a dive. And it is. But the food was fabulous!! Also, our waitress was excellent. Kudos to her. The inside is fun. Definite dive bar energy. We went all in. Appetizers, drinks, entrees. I regret nothing. We started with the queso appetizer and the pub pretzels. Both were very tasty. My one and only critique is that I wished the queso appetizer included some veggies like celery or carrots or something other than just chips. My son ordered the smash burger. Husband got the shepherds pie. I got the buffalo sliders. I like my buffalo chicken to be saucy. So I requested extra sauce. The kitchen seemed to misunderstand and instead of extra saucy, they put my sauce on the side and none on the chicken. Our waitress offered to send it back. That was not necessary. So she brought me lots of extra sauce. Incredible. The sauce was excellent. The chicken was excellent!!! Superb quality. Honestly, quite possibly the highest quality piece of chicken I've had on a chicken sandwich. Tender, moist, flavorful, and a large piece of meat. Very very impressed. I got the onion rings, at the suggestion of our waitress. They were fantastic. Washed it all down with a Yuengling. Truly, I can't say enough about this place. I was highly impressed. Most of the other customers appeared to be regulars who were seated at the bar. There were only a few groups seated at traditional tables. It was a Tuesday evening so I'm sure it's much busier on a Friday or Saturday. Oh - and just as we were leaving, they were setting up for karaoke. Apparently Tuesdays are karaoke night. Oh! And! First time here and it was what you would expect of a Irish pub. We were looking for a quick happy hour spot and landed on here. I enjoyed a margarita while my husband sipped on his Michelob ultra beer. There wasn't a line so we were seated immediately. Steve our server was excellent and was attentive. We didn't get a chance to explore the menu fully but my egg rolls were delicious and my husband's loaded fries were hot. Overall I think we will be back! read more

Thursday Fish & Chips special was excellent. Decor a bit dated, but not awful. I'd go back.

The place presents me quite a conundrum. On one hand, I am amazed by how much I like the food. While on the other, I am also shocked by how much I am ok with the ratchetness happening here a lot of the time. It is a full ass train wreck of a bar and I love it! I can't say the food is "great quality fare", but it's really some of the best bar food I have ever had. We have had almost the whole menu minus the entrees and Irish Food. We had a Rueben last time that was fantastic. I guess I'll start on that side of the menu now. It is some really cheap food though. It's way underpriced for the current restaurant climate in my opinion. Servers range from 3-10 but are generally really nice. The last lady we had was great! I'll seek her out again. She explained the whole late night thing to me here. They stay open until 2:00 at least some days. She invited us to stay, said "we are a good time" and I bet she is right. Just not ready for that kind of party that day. The vibe is all over the place, hour to hour. The interior is like a mix of Irish Pub, a dive bar, country bar, hell even a dance club sometimes. They even have live trivia, which is super annoying. They have live entertainment (if you can call some fat dude with his MacBook, live entertainment?!?!) and have a cover charge "after the guard arrives". I assume to help pay DJ Tubby and the Top Flight drop out. We keep coming and finding our frequency between visit getting slimmer. We are digging the food as we cruise around the menu, and we will be back! I'm usually pretty tight when I arrive and somewhat sloppy when I leave. I visited for the 1st time ordered saulsberry steak it was ok. My sides were cold corn was fresh out the can they were hard. The cabbage was bland no seasoning no flavor you can tell they were just steamed and fresh out the can. Told my server I wasn't satisfied asked for a manager never came server brought my bill paid it and never looked back in that direction. read more

We thought this might be a fun place to go for St. Patty's Day. The menu looked decent so we decided to give it a try. It was completely packed out, which was expected. We tried the famous fish n' chips - expecting something great. Not so much. It was just ok - really quite disappointing. There was nothing special about it and the tartar sauce tasted like pure mayonnaise. Both needed more seasoning for sure. The band playing was ok - not bad, just ok. It's not authentically Irish, but it's a close approximation of what you would expect for an Irish pub in Mississippi. The super strong points are you get a lot of food for your money. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and it was fair...kinda less meat and more bread situation. My wife's Chicken Tenders were really great...and it seemed to be a favorite with the regulars as well! Speaking of the regulars...this restaurant excels at a vibrant clientele that is friendly and eclectic and reminded me of Toby Keith's song "I Love This Bar"!! my friends and I LOVE this place. super great drinks and food. However, we were very disappointed Saturday night. We went in a few weeks prior and had a waitress (ANNA) ok at the time of service, some people left from our table and she decided to come to the rest of us that they didn't leave a tip (come to find out they did) so all of us left an extra tip bc we felt bad. Well we go in this Saturday and get her again (sadly). After recognizing who we were she instantly has an attitude with us. After taking our order she goes to the back and comes back and tell us she won't be serving us anymore that we will have to go to the bar. It was very rude and unprofessional of her. We talked with someone and got a different waitress and the rest of the night was fine. apparently many people have had problems with her. Just hate she gave us that experience. read more

****** REAL LONG REVIEW ******* This is mine and my friends favorite spot to go to, to have a drink, catch up with one another and listen to music.! Tuesday & Thursdays are the main nights we always go bc of music.. DJ Snow performs those nights, as well as some Fridays &/or Saturday's... Well this past Saturday 7/13 a group of friends and myself went for my birthday and also bc DJ Snow was there..!! And it was GREAT until one of the waitresses (Kate) thought she was going to talk to us any kind of way that she wanted... NOT. The place was packed... we noticed that in the back corner there was 2 empty tables and 1 table with ONE persons sitting at it in between the 2 empty ones.! Well with how many people we had we definitely needed 2 tables.! One of our friends went up to the guy and asked him "are you alone.?" He replied "yes" so she politely asked him did he mind either to move up to the front table or back to the other empty table, therefore making 2 empty tables side by side... he said "absolutely of course. No problem." So we all start sitting down, next thing i know this waitress Kate comes up to our table, with a shitty attitude from the start. She was telling us that we were not allowed to do that and that was her customer an just on an on about how we cant do that. I explained that we simply asked an he was fine with it that if he would of said no then we would not of bothered.. then very demanding told us that since we did that an are sitting there that we have to open a tab with her.! Of course we did.! We start ordering drinks... after about an hour we are going to step out for a smoke break, i let Kate know that i needed another beer but i was going outside and along with of our other friends asked for a mixed drink, but she stayed at the table to wait on it... well a good 30 or so mins went by and the friend that stayed inside came out to smoke.. she still had not got her drink. About 10 mins later our waitress comes outside to us... an looks at our friend and with attitude says " hmm are you the one that is really saying you have been waiting on your drink for 45 mins!!" She said yes bc i have., but are you really coming out here like this an talking to me like this. Kate went on to basically calling our friend a liar an that she had not been waiting that long. The friend then explained that she was a manager at another local bar an grill that if one of her waitresses was to talk to a customer the way she was she would be fired.! Kate went on with attitude so i finally just said to her "look me an my friends come her ALL the time, we are known by name up here, other waitresses an waiters know what we want when we walk in the door, an that we spend wayyy to Much money in here for you to treat an talk to us the way you have.!" Kate said well im just going to close your tabs out with me then i said why bc you have an attitude.? She said excuse me im sorry it is to busy for me i told her that well maybe you should find another job bc DJ Snow ALWAYS brings a bad ass crowd with him wherever he goes an that you are the only waitress that has complained about it but it gives you no excuse to treat us that way.!! So we went back in all of our tabs was closed... she left our pizza sitting at bar instead of bringing it to the table, tried to keep the change of one friends money. An then just lied. Needless tk say... we all love the workers there they do amazing.! I think they just hired a bad apple bc i promise i will forever request a new waitress if she is ever ours again. An then the comments she made about the dj is "ruining this place" hmm that is so far fetched its ridiculous if anything DJ Snow & Ray have made Dans such a better place for people to come an hang out an enjoy it.! He plays all the new tasteful music and then of course the throw backs is where its at.! The crowd that follows Snow is one of a kind and all are great people.! After about six months of the faux Covid scam of a pandemic, it was refreshing to be in a state, where things were still normal. (We're in Texas, BTW, where we have an asshole Gov) We were in N Memphis for the night, and someone recommended Dan McGuiness. I was exhausted, and the wife and I needed a beer, fast. When we walked in, we were shocked, as every seat at the bar, sans dos, were full. No social distancing BS. That Fauci guy would be livid. We, however, had Kool Aid smiles on faces. Bring on the Covid, bitches! Albeit packed, we were greeted quickly, and within minutes had two Yuengling drafts in front of our faces. For food, we ordered the following: Wife: Fish & Chips Me: Reuben with tots Solid food, and very reasonably priced. In fact, I'd say this place was a bargain. Four beers, ad two entrees for $36. Pub atmosphere. Bar food. Lots of fried options. The brownie dessert was a good size and enough for 2-3 ppl. Prices were reasonable. The bar was pretty noisy and busy on the Friday night I was there. A band was about to go on stage. Mostly high top seating. Not many sit down tables. The young girl/bar tender, who served me, took my order and then shortly after asked me to pay before the food came so she could get off of work. She didn't ask if I wanted dessert or anything else. She just wanted to get off of work. I asked a diff server for dessert after my original server. Someone else brought/ran the food out. She didn't check on me or refill my drink. She also left and left the other bar tender coming on shift to clear my plates. When I asked if they made good old fashions, she and another replacement server said, "not really." They never asked if I wanted anything else to drink instead. Seems like they didn't want to make specialty drinks but mostly served beer on tap or bottle. Id rate the service 2 out of 5. read more

great atmosphere 8 out of 10 on food it is Irish Fair lots of potatoes .. for Irish fair 10 of 10 restrooms clean . service a bit shaky usually more people than Staff but the Staff is great and Running as fast as their feet can move . the place has a large local following of regulars friendly and Fun older like you would expect in an Irish pub . people friendly 2 pool tables . outside seating and smoking nice place to sit drink and smoke the place stays open till Way late 2 to 3 PM .. The late night crown young and a bit more rowdy don't go their with a chip on your shoulder someone will knock it off .. Traditionally Irish again . From what my friend tells me, this pub has existed here in the same spot since long before we were even friends. He was surprised that I had never heard of the place. After almost settling for Taco Bell from being indecisive, he piped up saying, "Dan McGuinness is always good." So I yelped it and googled the menu. Now, you may laugh, but the menu item that caught my eye was not some fancy-schmancy, artsy-fartsy, over-pompous malarkey - but simple, matter-of-fact "Philly Tots". So I over-dramatically freaked out and said "We have to go here!!" Upon entering it was refreshing to see a pub (bar) that was smack dab in the middle of the restaurant and made a statement at the same time: "Yes, we are a bar." Not pushed up against a wall, or tucked away in a corner or hidden in the back - this was a bonafide pub. Plain & simple. We sat near the back, close to the pool tables (it was a low table as my friend has Cerebral Palsy and uses canes to move about). We're were greeted by two attractive ladies who welcomed us and provided us with menu's and asked us if we'd like something to drink. I later figured out that one of our servers was in training. The place was lively with a band setting up on stage and the pool tables knocking with a ping pong table game! We ordered the tots as an appetizer and we each got a Corned Beef Reuben with fries (he a Newcastle Brown Ale, and a Coors Light for myself). It didn't take very long for the app or the entrees for that matter but man o man - were those philly tots OFF THA CHAIN!!! And then the Reuben's came out and oooh it was so good I was halfway through it before I realized that they had put the 1000 sauce on the side! Like WOW!! When I added it - I was like exorcist head spinning as it made it that much better. After finishing our meals and downing a second beer the band started to kick it up and we promptly paid out tabs and left - all in all - man, was this a dining experience to remember! Wow! So I drive way out to the boondocks Mississippi to see one of my favorite young country stars I met here thinking this was as advertised an Irish pub. When I arrive there is nothing Irish about this place than maybe the food items. Nobody was drinking Guiness and the only cider they offered was Red's so thats when I knew this wasn't really an Irish bar. The band I went to see was late and when they finally did arrive they decided not to go country tonight and do hip-hop. I did order a Bud Light since it was that type of joint and I ordered the one thing on the menu that was Irish, the fish and chips. Omg these were like the menu said the best fish and chips I had ever had with a perfect breading and great flavor, even the chips were good. Been a fan of their Boom Boom Chicken since I was in college and the location on Spottswood was open. Burgers are on special Monday's I think? Any day of the week they are great. Service our last visit was.... Odd. Waitress seemed deeply offended I ask if the appetizer would come out before the entrees. Proceeds to have a nasty snarky attitude w me the rest of the meal while my glass sat empty. It was funny later on but I haven't been back since. Maybe better staff has come through?
