I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW FOR CAPITAL CITY KIA new name of old Dan o'Brien This was a walk in car buying mission with a trade in that we knew we wouldn't have much equity in We were met by Brandon who was friendly enough for a sales man professional and well dressed We sat down went over our wants and needs which to my husband and I was a new lower priced basic no extras kinda car knowing that our car payment was going to be a bit on the higher end due to still owing on our other car We figured out a plan that worked for us with some rebates that were given for 2024 Kia forte LX As well as a buyout of our other vehicle and in-house financing We were told that we would be using Kia financing (which we had a bank that we had been financed through previous to this, but the interest rate was at 12% and they told us they could beat that 12% so we chose not to go with our bank and to go with their in-house financing) maybe a little naïve on our part but in actuality, they never really know until they run the figures everything's just an estimate So we get walked over to waiting area waiting for the manager, who's busy between there and the Subaru dealership for the next two hours we are told by Brandon oh they're just trying to get you a better finance rate oh they're just trying to get you a better finance rate and then about 20 minutes after coming over to me and telling me that about five times I get a credit alert They had done nine hard pull's on my credit. I approached the manager when I finally met with him about this and he was just telling me oh that standard procedure. We were just trying to get you a better interest rate, which is very excessive. Usually it's like a three or four pull's and you realize what the interest rate is if especially if they're not changing that much he said that they are gonna look at it all just the same, but it's my credit. I was never told that they were doing credit checks that much and I did authorize the first one. I knew that that was gonna happen maybe even two but to do nine credit pulls they stay on my report for three years and he's trying to explain to me it's not that big of a deal. Let me see how he liked it on his credit report nine times. That was my only issue with the dealership otherwise the manager himself was very nice very presentable. They got me what I needed. They got me what I wanted. They helped me dissolve my other vehicle which I didn't have much equity in so I appreciate them for all of that I'm just really disappointed in the credit report would I recommend And refer them? 7/9 visited and test drove a new 2024 Kia Carnival minivan. I liked it and with encouragement from the sales staff, put a $500 deposit "REFUNDABLE" deposit on the vehicle. Having recently lost my husband, this was my first vehicle purchase on my own and I wanted a little time to think about it. On 7/11, I spoke to the sales manager because I had decided against the purchase. I requested a refund of my deposit. On 7/15, I called and requested they check on the status of my refund. Every part of the experience was terrible. They were unorganized, unprofessional and had no follow through. They have a higher charge up than everyone in the area. Different departments don't communicate with each other and they don't do anything they say they will. We even called ahead to say that we had a toddler and wanted to be ready to get in and out quickly, and they still had an hour of things to do, including misrun payments, missing parents we paid for, missing keys... then they put us in an office to say they had 45 minutes worth of things to go over to up sell us on additional warranties. I do not suggest this dealership in any way. I was not only sold a car that didn't have the features they said were on it but they did nothing to rectify the situation. My guess is that the salesman who was helping me didn't know enough about the specific car he was trying to sell me and didn't realize that the features I asked for were not in the car. Regardless, that just means he doesn't take the time to know what he has on the lot. These features that were not on the car were LITERALLY the only things I asked for. Mind you they were safety features I was asking for so this isn't a small issue. I called the dealership and they told me they would call me back and I gave them a couple days to do so. They never called so once again I called them and had to once again explain that I was sold a car that didn't have what I asked for. They said they would call me back and once again they did not. The third time I called them I was persistent and wanted to be helped out. I was not looking for any more than just getting the features I was promised into the vehicle. They refused. Also when buying the car I gave them $500 to get my registration done. I bought the car on July 1st and didn't get my registration for the car until August 25th. Almost two months. I had to scramble to get my inspection sticker once I finally got my registration as it was required for me to have it in 2 days at that point. Everywhere I called didn't have space for me to get the inspection so I ended up getting my registration (which I had just gotten) suspended and was no longer able to drive my car. I had to spend a couple hundred dollars to get it unsuspended. This experience was an absolute nightmare. Never again. read more

I hadn't even agreed to buy the car and they needed to run my credit in order to get the rate and figure out my monthly payment. I asked the salesman Cameron how this would affect the inquiries on my credit report. He said it would be only 1 hard inquiry and any others would be soft inquiries. I didn't buy the car and I checked my credit monitoring the next day and there were 3 hard inquiries and my credit score went down 20 points! I called and spoke to the manager John whose only explanation was that they were just trying to get the best rate so checked different banks. I told him that I had specifically asked about it and was lied to by the salesman (or he was improperly trained). No apologies offered! The WORST experience looking for a car EVER! Never seen such a LOUD showroom filled with glass, metal, but not one single car in a "showroom" just a motorcycle?!? That should have told us something.... Came in on a Saturday with an appointment wanting to look at a specific used Kia Sorrento. Told shortly after we arrived by the salesperson Parker that "we can't find it but we'll keep looking". After maybe 30 more minutes! he came back to tell us he still couldn't find it but maybe we'd like to test drive a new 2019 model. So I went on a test drive in a 2019 along with Parker. Told him we were not looking to buy that day but just to get an idea of what vehicle(s) may be right for us. Despite this we got the hard sell the moment we returned from the test drive. Not only that the sales manager played some games with the sticker price and the "value" of my trade (which they hadn't even seen) to make what they were going to offer seem like a deal (which it wasn't). Walked out shortly after. On a side note while we were there someone buying a car practically shouted their SSN one digit at a time to a salesperson at another table. Word to the wise - shouting your SSN can make you a victim of identity fraud. The sales person did NOT try to quiet her down after she started to shout the first few digits, amazingly enough. Parker informed me over a voicemail the next day that they magically "found the used Sorrento you wanted to look at if you want to come down". No. I don't. The sales manager tried to engage me in a text message on President's Day that went like this "Him: We have a great sale today if you want to come down. Me: I bought a car already. Him: Great. What did you get? Me: A vehicle with 4 wheels". Despite that these idiots STILL leave me voicemails asking if I want to come down and look at a car. Not only that but somehow their Hampton location has also gotten my cell phone number and has left similar messages. So don't give these guys your contact info unless you want to be hounded for months afterwards. I bought a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe from Key Hyundai in Salem a couple of months after this horrible experience and could not be happier with either the vehicle or the sales team. Absolutely ridiculous and full of broken promises. Wanted to buy the new car online, because they're quite a distance away, and they had somebody ride like the wind to my house to get me to sign papers. As soon as they get your signature, you're screwed and all communication ceases. Promised delivery, kept pushing back, had to go all the way to pick the car up and one of the keys was magically missing in a locked office. I don't usually write reviews but am compelled to write this one after ongoing issues with Dan O''Brien Kia. It began when my daughter and I went to the dealer in Hampton. We were met by the sales manager who was completely unprofessional, from the way he dressed to the way he spoke to us. Not only was he arrogant, but he admitted to the Concord dealership that he lied to us in an effort to get us back to the dealership after we left, admitting he gave us a quote for our trade in but he wasn't really going to give us that but just wanted us to come back. I firmly believe he thought we were two women so he wasnt going to have to deal with us. We ended up at the Kia dealership in Concord where they desperately tried to make right the experience we had in Hampton. We ended up buying a car but it was a lengthy process. Fast forward to last Friday. My daughter had her first oil change due. She took her car to the Concord dealership and all was well until Friday when all the oil drained out of her car onto the driveway. Kia responded, giving her a loaner and towing the car to the dealership. They called to say the car was ready and I had to ask what happened . This is when i was told they didn't tighten the drain bolt enough and it came off. I guess we got lucky that it happened when the car was in the driveway and she wasn't driving. i didn't get the sense that they were really sorry for this mistake. The jeep I bought from them 3 years ago has a failing radio, quoted more than $900 to fix a radio, I asked for help with contacting jeep to get it warrantied; the service manager blew me off and failed to follow up. Last Tuesday, J decided to go to Kia in Concord and see about trading my Kia Soul. I was looking online at the Kia Seltos which is a new model that just came out. Eric O'Keefe was the sales rep that waited on me. Auto Sales Reps can be very pushy to get you to buy the new vehicle. Eric was not that. He was very professional, answered all my questions. He then waited for the financial rep to work with me in trying to come up with a deal. When I finally agreed to buy the vehicle, knowing it was closing time for them, he didn't try to rush me out. I can't vouch for an in person experience as my interaction with DanOBrien Kia is solely over email. DanOBrien's Lynda emailed me through a query I sent out through TrueCar.com. She proceeds to ask me if I'd received the email. I said no, and so she sends me a TrueCar certificate which quotes out a car, make, model, year, color, trim, MSRP, and savings... She promptly tries to rope me into driving out to talk 'options'. I declined simply b/c I had a very straight forward request for a make, model, trim, etc out the door cost. No nonsense final cost Several more emails went back and forth only to find out they didn't have this car in stock.. This is literally BAIT AND SWITCH.. Then I get an email from Dan OBrien who has the AUDACITY to accuse me of being combative as a response to my email to his subordinate Lynda (Or they could even be the same people, who knows) "I'm looking for INFORMATION, not the run around...." I reply when she was using terminology regarding their 'forever warranty' interchangeably with reference to different product (used/new). For example, contrary to Lynda's email, I saw no proof on the mobile website that used cars had the 'forever warranty'. He then has the audacity to go sell try to sell me that TrueCar.com and how it's a third party and how they're not responsible for their fake listings.. all this after his own Sales department LITERALLY sent me the Truecar.com quote. This is totally patronizing. He pretty much doubles down and tries to sell it a second time Let's not forget the fact that Obrien has a DEALER PORTAL with TrueCAR.com and that dealers pay TrueCar.com a fixed rate for referring them successful sales. Even if they didn't, if someone directly benefit from a questionable site, to not take responsibility for wrongful information from the site is just bad business. Obrien does a poor job of trying to hide behind plausible deniability These dealerships have lost ALL leverage with the internet and try to adapt by paying these third party sites to be the fall guy for shady business practices. Per another reviewer, Gregory M. who was there in person and wasted a LOT more time than I, this seems to be a practice on site as well. I try to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that these instances are mainly because of incompetence rather than malice, but honestly, this seems like a little bit of both. If I could give them negative stars I would. When my mother went to buy her car, the manager at the time was so rude. Kept trying to interrupt me when I was talking because he didn't like I was telling mum they were scamming her. She ended up buying a 2019 Kia soul and she's had issues since. They won't answer her phone calls - disconnecting every time. Told her people don't work there when they actually do. Kicked her out of the actual building. Told her the warranty ended at 50k and the engine problem she thought she had was not covered even though she had the extended warranty until 100k and she's under that. She brought the car to another Kia dealership to find out it's something else and her original warranty was until 80k and she reached out well before that to this place to inquire but according to them "your warranty expired at 50,000 and it's not covered" yet it was and that is actually disgusting they would lie about that. If you research this dealership, the owner was sued over 2 million and has had to sell other dealerships and hasn't been to this one in years. Please please please save yourself the headache and DO NOT go here. They will scam you, the mangers will talk down to young women (because apparently they don't like honesty), they lie about everything. read more

I went first thing in the morning both the vehicles I went to see sold between 7pm(wile thunder & lightning) at night to 9 am the next day. Not to worry they do have a brand new Kia Sorento like the one I was looking for! High pressure If I don't buy now the price goes up as they only have so many rebates. They were trying to get me to sign a paper handwritten that said I would buy the car for this price no vin # on it just handwritten promise they wrote out and wanted me to sign. I found out later they had the manager sitting behind us listening so when I would say something they would text or have the salesmen go in the back and come out with a comeback. They later admitted it to me! I would not sign so they said let's do a credit check! I did not want too but felt so much pressure. Once they found I had good credit things got worse. I was in tears over the pressure and things I was told! I did buy a car! Brand new Kia Sorento I was not going to trade my old car in as I knew I could get so much more than the trade they offered (and I did). The financial repressive closed the door and told me "You own the car now do not leave it here over night" I asked why because I had my old car with me, I cannot drive 2 car's home! He then said Well you own it and sometimes things happen. I did not leave the car the salesman did follow me home in it. As soon as I got it home, I peeled all the Dan O'Brian stickers off it! I was embarrassed I bought from them! I surely did not want to advertise for them either! Now looking back, I should of ran! I am in my 60s had a sick husband at home I told them that I think they took advantage of knowing that. I have found that my brake lights had off the market bulbs in them and had to be replaced as they were not Woking properly. Remember thus is a brand new SUV. Then other bulbs same thing. The people at this dealership are completely incompetent. I was looking at a vehicle they had in inventory, online, since I am out of state. I had put a deposit down, bought plane tickets, 2 hotel rooms(longer than a single day of driving back), and was ready to go get the car, mind you all this happened over about a 2 week period. It isn't until the night before my 6 AM flight, that someone I hadn't talked to prior, but claimed to be a manager called with some very interesting statements. One of the first things he said on the phone was, "Who told you that you would be able to come pick up the car tomorrow?" I replied with, "Well nobody said I couldn't, after I told your salesman, and finance manager that I planned to fly down on "x" day, and would arrive at "x" time, they both said that sounded great." So, I am sitting on the phone, while the store is still open, requesting someone higher than who I am talking to, all I get is "the finance manager has gone home, sorry there isn't anything we can do." Not only did I waste the almost 2 hours on the phone, but all this to be blocked by the "manager" I was speaking with, and him telling me "Yea I think we are okay, I wouldn't like to continue this deal, you should go somewhere else", purely over me trying to figure out what the best options are in the situation we were in. When I attempted to reach out to the finance manager, about getting compensated since they wasted my time and money, on flights and hotels, there was no replies. I only got a reply after demanding my deposit back, before I pressed charges. I wouldn't ever recommend this string of dealerships to anyone. With everything above, it's also impossible to reach the dealership you want. I was passed through all of the dealerships they have on the phone, and different departments, before finally telling one person they needed to fix their linked phone systems, since I had been transferred back to opposite locations 4 different times. I can't say enough good things about Dan O'Brien Kia North Hampton and Concord. I initially didn't have a good experience with them, but they were very interested in rectifying the situation and making sure I was happy. Ian(Concord) and Joe(North Hampton) in particular were very warm, and treated me like a person rather than a potential sale. To start with, I shouldn't have been able to leave there with a new car. My credit wasn't great, and my trade in was underwater. However, they went above and beyond to get me a good deal on a 2019 Kia Optima S, and did me a LOT of favors to help get me out of my trade-in. If there is one thing I can say, if you're halfway reasonable about your interest rate and monthly payment, they can and will get you into a car. Not only was I able to walk out of there with a new car at a decent interest rate with a decent monthly payment. I was able to walk away from my old car without any real consequences. I haven't even mentioned the great things that came with my car. When you combine all the extra warranties and perks that came with buying a car with Dan O'Brien, the value cannot be beaten. These guys have customer service at their core, and I look forward to going back for service, and I will definitely be recommending others check them out. read more

I confirmed availability with Nick Fernandes at 349 and was asked to go at 430 so they would have time to covid clean it. I arrived at 430 as scheduled and was informed that the car was sold yesterday and picked up today. And I should have been their earlier. I replied that this was a classic bait and switch. The manager was very fluent in the term and quick to defend their practice. This is just luring prospective buyers by leaving vehicles on their website to get you to visit.
