Our visit here, came a few days later! Dana Landing is such a popular spot for many recreational users and folks just passing by (like us!). Great selection of sandwiches (breakfast style available too). Pre made sammies are available for those in a rush! Just check the refrigerator. We walked up to the deli counter to place our order. I asked staff if they could sell sliced turkey by the pound bc we have our dog with us. One of the gals said, sure. But, one of the fellas just wrapped up a huge chunk of it in plastic wrap and said, no worries. I was surprised by the kind gesture and had to pay it back. I placed a $5 bill in the tip jar that sits on the counter. I ordered the: #4 The Skipper Italiano. $13 Italian Roll, salami, mortadella, capicolla, provolone cheese, pepperonis, Italian dressing, w/ the works (lettuce/ tomatoes/ onions). I opted for sourdough bread instead. Totally forgot to have it toasted. But, every bite- the sourdough was soft. I love mortadella so much and there's no skimping on deli meats and cheeses. I figured Kettle's Honey Dijon chips are best paired with my sandwich. Pay for your order at the cashier counter. Many tables facing the marina. We didn't wanna over stuff our doggie with all the deli meats- so we gifted another person walking by with his rucksack and beautiful dog the rest of the meat. We've been coming since we were kids and have the best memories of visiting the pugs that used to roam the store and watch us while we ate. This review is for the market and deli at Dana Landing. Heading to Paradise Point on our friends' boat, they suggested getting sandos from the Deli at Dana Landing. They are frequent fliers at the deli. We arrived at the dock and the guy working was super friendly and helpful. He guided us into a spot and grabbed a rope to help dock the boat. The market had everything, including a full service deli. Beach stuff, fishing gear, boating gear, food, beer, drinks. Basically an AM/PM for boaters, but better! Way better! Becky ordered the Blackjack $11.99: Chicken breast, pepper jack cheese, chipotle aioli with everything: mayo, mustard, LTO. Italian roll subbed for toasted sourdough. She loved it. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The sandwich withstood the 45 minutes or sl prior to her eating it. It did not become stale or soggy. I did a Build Your Own $9.99: I chose Ham, double Swiss, mayo and mustard only. On an Italian roll. I like a simple, sturdy sandwich that will travel well and hold up. It was very well constructed and exactly as I asked. The ham was piled high and the Swiss was most definitely doubled. Perfect amounts of mayo and mustard. It, as Becky's did, held up great. Their store hours are not accurate. They close the store early during the week at around 9pm, which is an inconvenience if you need to get a quick snack to boost your blood sugar. The people, particularly the men who work there, are exceptionally rude and not friendly to customers of color. Do not go here with expectations of customer service. This is a mom & pop shop that does as they please and they pick and choose who to be friendly with. Great late night spot for some last minute pick ups like bait which I went in for the other day.. According to my receipt though, I was charged for something I didn't bring to the register or asked about to be charged.. could've been a price check before I got there but they should've paid a little more attention and myself as well.. although I did catch it later on and called but whoever picked up next morning seemed rude about it and said they couldn't do anything about it.. I was at least hoping that I could come in and get store credit or a refund if I asked them to double check their cameras or scan time stamp... but oh well. Went out to the mission bay location to rent a boat for the day . Got on one of the pontoons . Everything was good until the bait pump started going out . By this time about half the bait we had just bought started to die as we made our way back to the dock to see if they can fix it . We had to be putting buckets of water in the bait tank so the little we had left wouldn't die as the guy tried to figure out what was going on . Ended up being a bad pump he had to get a new pump and wire it all up . Finally back on our way out . We were out for about another 30min before we noticed the pump went out again . At this point we decided to cut our trip short. Went back to the dock to turn in the boat. Talked to the crew member to see if there was anything he can do to help us out or accommodate us for the inconvenience. Pretty much said no. Still charged us for the gas which was mainly used having to go back in to get there problems fixed . Bad experience forsure. Unfortunately probably won't be going back there . Such a busy place of business you would think all there fleet of boats are well maintained and ready to go . Could use some work . read more

My husband and I had gone for a long walk around the inside of Mission Bay and we were really hungry so we stopped by the fisherman's deli at the boat ramp and we had their number one special sandwich. The squab bread was thick and delicious and fresh And the sandwich was full of turkey and bacon and avocado and cheese and all the Fixin's. There's plenty of picnic seating outside and you get to look at the arena and see the fisherman going in and out at the boat ramp and see all the pelicans waiting for fish. This review is for Captain Matt and Limitless Fishing. From the reservation to him dropping us off at the end of day dock, Captain Matt was super attentive and easy to deal with. He returned calls, texted and emailed with me when I had questions and was super easy and friendly to deal with. Payton, his hand, worded his tail off the entire day for us. Payton was patient with one of our elderly guests and also paid super close attention to one of our teenage guests also making sure that both were happy and fishing. The boat was clean and organized and we had a great lunch. Lastly, we caught fish!!!!!!!!!!! The guys would land us right on top of them, tell us the depth they were at, and we would fish away. This is a very nice landing on Mission Bay with public access and private docks. We met friends at the fuel dock for a Sunday afternoon on Mission Bay. There was plenty of free parking. The docks and surrounds are well maintained. The "Deli" is a convenience store for boaters, fishermen, and water enthusiasts with outdoor tables. My girlfriend and I went to rent a fishing boat at the mission bay location on 4/12/24, and we both believe we were being scammed/discriminated against. When we first got in, we got some bait and a little bit of tackle for our lines. The girl at the front desk was literally staring my girlfriend and I down the whole time. It's like she's never seen a gay couple in her life. At the time, I let it slip down my back because people can be judgemental and not everyone's gonna be nice. About the boat part it was fun and everything was fine until the end of the day when we had to return the boat. Earlier in the day, we ended up getting stuck in some sand and we couldn't get out. So somebody helped get us out of the sand and everything was fine. Boat was running fine, visibly no damage anywhere on the boat. When we returned the boat (mind you, we drove all the way back for at least a mile from where we last stopped. Running perfectly fine) the guy said he needed to make sure everything was fine on the boat. Fair enough and makes sense, so while we waited this kid says it would be 200 dollars. I told him that was absolutely ridiculous and if I can speak to someone else cause something was not adding up. This is when the amazing Nick comes into play who's going to be enjoying his lovely lawsuit in the months to come. Nick was practically demanding this money. He was very cocky, judgemental, and a straight up donkey. I told him my phone was dead and I had no way to pay for these "damages" they were claiming and 200 was way too high to begin with for "scratches on the propeller". He tells me he's gonna speak to the owner about it. So while he's on the phone we go back up the the shop to speak to nick again. He tells me it's gonna be 60. Confused I ask him why this number drastically changed and why I was about to pay 200 when I didn't need to? This is when the personal attacks come into play. He demands to see my personal bank account (yes, you heard that right.) that I need to charge my phone (I only use Apple Pay, so I was in a tough situation) He said MANY comments on how "there's no way two ladies can rent a boat and not have 60 laying around" "leave the fishing poles in the boat for collateral" claiming I was lying about my funds? It didn't stop there, he even asked my girlfriend to show him HER account. Are you kidding me?? Absolutely ridiculous and actually illegal since my mom works for the law. He kept pestering me and basically cornering me to "show him all my transactions" WHAT???I had no problem paying 60 and asked if they can bill me. For some reason they couldn't even do that. Something was super sketchy and off. I almost had to call the police cause I was left with nothing and there was literally nothing I could do. After I wanted to call the police, Nick calls us "f**** losers." I left feeling super discriminated against and will not be returning. I don't recommend anybody giving your money to these homophobic/ rude/ sexist people. The only good thing about this whole experience was a nice gentleman named Kane who helped my girlfriend and I rig our fishing rods. We're still super new to fishing and this guy was the only helpful/nice dude in the whole establishment. Props to you Kane. Thanks for making our day at the very least you deserve better. read more

I recently bought tackle from Dana Landing for a fishing trip but didn't end up using it. Four days later, I called to ask about their return policy and was assured that unused items could be returned. However, when I went to return the items, one of the managers was extremely aggressive and threatening, claiming they wouldn't accept fishing line returns despite no such policy being listed in-store or on the receipt. Although a couple of items were eventually accepted, the manager's behavior left me shaken. I hope they improve their customer service and clarity on return policies. read more

Huge thanks to Captain Matt Barlow and mates Matt and Fitz on the LIMITLESS for the best fishing trip ever. We went on a 2.5 day charter for tuna. These guys are dedicated fisherman. With their help, we LOADED the boat with tuna and had a great time. The food was excellent and they go out of their way to make sure everybody catches fish and has fun. When they yell "fresh one!" you know another monster tuna is on the line and you are in for another arm-burning battle. I definitely recommend this boat. read more

My friend took me here for sandwiches after we went sailing. He works around here so he knew the place. There's a lot of sandwiches you can pick from or you can build your own. I got the Alexis - squaw bread, turkey, bacon, avocado, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, but no onion or mustard. The sandwich was fresh, huge, and had a lot of meat. The best fishing tackle stores in San Diego! They have literally everything you would ever need from freshwater to a long offshore trip. The store is packed wall to wall with goodies. Besides the great selection the one thing that really sets this place apart is the staff. I've been coming here for a couple of years and Nick is the absolute man. He always takes care of me when I come in for line and tackle and I've never had a bad spool or had any of his knots break on me. He's always friendly and more than willing to offer advice and tips, truly one of the most knowledgeable guys around the SD fishing scene. Nick will get you setup for whatever you are looking to catch whether you are a rookie or a salty pro. I've had multiple reels serviced and repaired by Dougie and everything always comes back working like new. From 30 year old big internationals to brand new baitcasters he can fix anything. I've also had rod repair done here and whoever does that does a great job as well. Finally the deli is bomb! Great sandwiches that are always fresh and tasty with a great selection of drinks and snacks. read more

I am giving this deli a 2 because of the foul-tasting onions. I got some turkey sandwiches, some sodas and chips. After 2 bites on the sandwich I said "I have to get rid of these onions". But I searched the sandwiches and found the onions were laid out in thin shreds and I could not find all the pieces. So I suffered for the next few hours burping this terrible onion taste. Not a good lasting impression to leave with a deli customer. Otherwise, it was pricey - as you would expect of a marina deli. There was nothing special to recommend this place. read more

On all 3 calls i was told "we ALWAYS have 2-3 boats set aside for walk ons" I woke up early to make sure I was the first person there at 4:45am (they don't open until 6) At 6am they open up and tell me they are not doing walk ins this day. Stopped by this place for the first (and last) time while on a bike ride around Mission Bay with two friends. Headed to the deli and figured it would be a great spot for a lunch break. The staff was cold and not friendly but thought nothing of it. My order was 2 sandwishes, mine came out quicky. With plenty of tomato despite "no tomato" but that's no big deal. It happens and I can just yank them out. The second sandwish however took a ridiculous amount of time. I didn't want to bother the staff wish asking too soon so I waited a bit before first inquiring. Staff coldly said it's coming without even turning around to look at me. We waited some more. I followed up two more times before the sandwish was eventually ready. I had finished mine by quite some time at this point. To give you an idea we watched several people who arrived after us, ordered, sit, eat, finish and leave before our second sandwish came out. My buddies and I went on a full day fishing trip on the impulse with Matt as the Captain and Danny. These guys were amazing we had so much fun. Now keep In mind non of us are adamant fisherman but Not to worry they got you covered. When we first arrived on the boat Danny maid us some amazing breakfast sandwiches and off we went. Matt has been doing this for a long time so he does not follow the other boats in fact he took us to areas that had no other boats in site. At the first location we got two bluefin tuna's. And the day was started right. We ended up maxing on the limit of bluefin. And the cool thing is they help you at all times unlike the big charter boats that your on your own. Best place ever! I took up fishing again and went to several bait and tackle stores in the area looking for help. Each one did their best to accommodate me (and take my money) but no matter what I tried I ended up never catching a fish. Finally stopped in to Dana Landing as my wife and I go to their deli all the time for breakfast and lunch and it has become my visiting family's favorite place to go to enjoy a great sandwich and perfect marina views. Anyway, spoke with Angel in the tackle department and he was so accommodating and hooked me up with a texas rig and some plastic baits, even being patient to show me and let me learn how to properly rig the baits. I was so excited to head out again to Mission Bay the next day and wouldnt you know it I caught my first fish.. Fishing on the Impulse... Four words - Worst day fishing ever! Five friends and myself went out on the Impulse for what we hoped would be a unforgettable fishing trip. We were supposed to leave the dock at 6:30 am and we didn't leave until almost 7:00 am. By the time we got bait and left the harbor it was close to 8:00 am and back at the dock by 3:45 pm. The captain stated he had concert to be at so couldn't be late. We spent the day trolling Marlin lures much to large to catch dorado or tuna. We stopped on a total of 3 kelp patties and fished for a total of 25 minutes we pointed out multiple patties that the captain drove right by them. The deckhand and the captain were eating breakfast sandwiches and didn't offer anything to us passengers. When I asked when we were going to eat the deckhand told me that the food was in the refrigerator and to make my own food. We ran out of beer food etc. To sum it up the trip was a $2000.00 boat ride and definitely unforgettable. read more

They get pretty busy around lunchtime, so I try to call in my order before heading over. If it's your first time and you don't know what to pick, you definitely can't go wrong with the Alexes (#1) or the Impulse (#11). The Yacht Club (#2) was alright. My brother prefers the Landing (#3). They definitely make thick sandwiches. I always manage to save the other half for my boyfriend (who inhales it as an after-work/pre-dinner snack). They have 11 supreme sandwiches for $6.99 +tax each (except The Guppy [#10] which is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, for $2.99). Otherwise, you can put together your own super sandwich for $5.99. Their deli menu also includes breakfast sandwiches for $3.99 (on a bagel or croissant). Your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage with egg and cheese. I love sausage on an everything bagel.
