The birds can be a bit annoying, but guess that comes with the great outdoors. Definitely a nice spot to chill, take a walk and get those steps in. This area feels safe and well maintained. When I went, there weren't too many people, so it was pretty peaceful. The trail can get busy and there are bathrooms along the way (I didn't use them though) There's plenty of parking here, but just be sure you leave on time for closing. I've heard they lock up and it can be an issue with getting out. (not sure how true this is but I won't chance it) There is more parking elsewhere with trail access too, I just personally haven't found it.

Lake Murray Service road walking trail is one of my go-to workouts--about 5.5 miles to the locked…read moregate and back. After entering the main entrance, follow the road and turn right where you will see a yellow locked gate. This is the beginning of the paved walking trail. There's plenty of parking at the main entrance, and the paved trail is perfect for walkers, runners, bikers, and even kids tagging along. It's basically a choose-your-own-adventure: bird watching, fishing (permit required), or just a casual picnic. Bonus perks: lots of porta potties and benches when you need a breather. If you're holding out for a real restroom, there's one just past the second baseball field--plan accordingly. Photo is attached to show where to locate this. Heads up: the main gate is closed every 2nd Tuesday of the month, but don't panic--you can still access the trail through the neighborhood entrance off Baltimore Drive. Friends and I were planning to go on a lake to fish for our first time, but we couldn't find any…read moreplace that rented both boats and fishing gear. We ended up deciding it was best we start off in a more controlled environment (on land) and found this place on Yelp. Rates are cheap, we paid $15 for 2 hours, and that included all the gear. Some people say the owner is rude, but she was very patient with our group that had never fished before. She explained how to put the bait on the hook and how to cast the line out. Very simple and easy to do once you get the hang of it all. Out of our group of 5, 3 of us caught a fish, and I caught two! Definitely a great first time run for all of us, as we all at least got a bite or two. It's a fun sport that you'll need to be patient with when you're first starting, but all of us want to go back and try again some day! The owner was ecstatic that we caught some, and because of that, she told us we could pick out a coaster each to take home. Truly a nice lady, would definitely recommend you come by and give it a try if you're in the area!

They even came and picked them up the next day! Both of the teenage boys loved that they got to go fishing! She even gave us a guide of what we could catch where we were fishing! Had a blast again fishing the dolphin boat on their 1/2 day trip. Caught 12 fish total and great…read moresize. 4 sculpin, 3 bass, and 5 red rock fish. The staff at checking in was helpful. The staff on the boat do a lot of helping. Definitely would recommend this boat if you are looking for a great time.

This year's fire safety: Passenger (at least one) smoking on board while we fueled up. 2). Trolling, no one minding them so I take one. The other one goes off. While I reel mine in, the other guy says his is only "kelp" and tells the deckhand to reel it in. I look, 80% out on a TLD 20. The deckhand tells me to reel it in. I tell him I need surgery on my right shoulder (SLAP Tear, painful). I do reel in. 50-60 BFT on it. "That is my fish" the guy who refused to reel the "kelp" in says. I say no, I reeled it in after he gave it up. Pegasus Captain Alec awards the fish to the other guy. Mr. "Kelp" Guy: "My brother is the Captain of the Royal Polaris." Will not be fishing this boat again.

Good service from the landing, easy check in and since my annual Mexican fishing license had expired the H&M tackle shop was able to renew my annual Mexican fishing license on the spot. Trip price was great, $705 including meals for a 2 day trip. Even better was that I had some gift certificates that H&M offers each year before the holidays that give you $100 value for $80. So I used 2 gift certificates and brought my trip price down to $505 out of pocket. I'll fish out of H&M landing again in the future.

For example my rod tip eyelet came off after I boarded a multi day trip on the Relentless. This was going to be my main rod for the trip. I took it up to the tackle shop and pleaded for help. It was 15 minutes before closing. This young punk said he was the manager and told me they would not do it. The incredible Danny Wade fixed it for me anyway. Down on the boat some guy came running down, all in a panic, saying the manager was demanding $7.83 for the repair. I gave him $50 and told him to give the change to Danny Wade. I killed it that trip with that setup. When I got back in, I asked Danny if he got the change money. He did not. Grrr!

Look at ANY OTHER FISHING CHARTER's ratings and DON'T GO WITH SEAFORTH!!!
