Small and cute library close to the beach is how I would sum it up in a sentence. Ample parking for the local residents or even vacationers from nearby hotels. Decent selection, check hours before going and always respect what you borrow. Quiet spaces for reading and perusing. Location is excellent.

For a fairly quiet place to study and a decent selection of children's books, this is a nice library to get some homework or research done. My son and I came by here the other day looking for books on missions. I hadn't been to a public library in years and found the customer service to be friendly. The librarian spent quality time helping us find the books we needed. This library has a great selection of magazines and plenty of decent seating as well. We also enjoyed looking through all the movies. There's free wi-fi and few computers that were busy while we were here. There's also a tiny used bookstore here, but it was closed on our recent visit. By the end of our visit here, it started getting pretty loud here. With kids running amuck, we definitely needed to head out soon. We were surprised how loud (even if it was for a brief time) this library could get. This library may be a bit on the older side but had enough resources for us to get some good research done. With a small selection of books, friendly service, and plenty of seating, this is a great place to get some studying or work done!

When researching what to do in town, the library kept popping up, mostly because of its architecture, and I'm so glad I made it a point to walk over to the library located on the edge of town. Yes, the building is absolutely stunning and incredibly unique... but what truly made the experience extra special for me were the librarians. They were so genuinely kind and welcoming and I very proudly added an Orange County Library card to my growing collection (a personal joy, honestly). It was the perfect place to wander aimlessly amongst the stacks of books, charge my devices, sit and relax, and browse through their national park books. The Friends of the San Juan Capistrano Library Bookstore was also open and had a great selection that made it very hard to leave empty handed. This library is beautiful, peaceful, resource rich (more than just books!) I wish I lived closer so I could come more often.

It's located at the civic center where there is plenty of parking. The library is small but seemed to have plenty of places for patrons to sit. It was very quiet on the Thursday afternoon I visited. I noticed they have a good-sized children's section as well as a "Friends of the Library" used bookstore at the entrance. Once inside, I quickly found the book I was after, used the self-check-out monitor at the front desk and was quickly on my way.

Staff are moderately helpful. The Big Issue? Noise. You have the usual library sounds (kids asking questions, parents answering, people looking for books, group work, occasional community events). But there are also people answering their phones, loud greetings, and worse, library staff engaging in social-hour-level conversations. One of the women is by far the worst. She acts like she is greeting her friends at a Starbucks. Today she chatted with a neighborhood friend by the magazine racks so loud I had to shush her. If the library staff cant model quiet in their own library, why would patrons? Geez!

Once you enter the building you must go upstairs (or take an elevator) to get to the library (otherwise you end up inside the school). This library is one of the smaller branches I've been to and the layout was initially a bit confusing to me. But I soon found the adult non-fiction section and located the specific book I was after. I didn't spot any self-checkout stations so went to the front desk where a pleasant gentleman took care of things and sent me on my way. I'm rarely in this area so doubtful I'll be back and instead will take care of the book's return via the OC Library's sytem where one can return a book to any branch and it will be transported to the correct location.

The cost to print is 0.15 per page. Printing was quick. I forgot my PIN for my library card but I was able to update it quickly so I could add funds to pay for the label I was printing. The stairs had some rubbish probably from the students who come through here. The library is a little small but I didn't spend too much time to get to peruse all their selections.

Most of the street parking is limited to 5 hours. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance so it's a great location. But honestly, their website experience has been one of the most frustrating college portals I've used. I consider myself very computer savvy. I've successfully handled registration, payments, class enrollment, and online portals with Chaffey College, Fullerton College, Santa Ana College, and even UCLA pre-hospital programs online without major issues. Saddleback's system, however, feels overly complicated and cluttered. I literally made 3calls all while trying to navigate through the clutter. The site constantly times out, and there seem to be glitches between the main portal and Outlook web app. I'd click to view messages and get a "hang on while we sign you out" message instead. Then I'd rush back into MySite before the session expired again. Even something simple like checking my Summer 2026 classes felt unnecessarily difficult. There are too many tabs, locks, checklists, tutorials, and steps all over the homepage. It feels overwhelming instead of user-friendly. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for students who aren't comfortable with technology or for international students navigating the system for the first time. My first experience calling for help back in March was positive, but recently I felt like support would rather have me drive to campus with my laptop instead of explaining things clearly over the phone. That was disappointing. A counselor, literally suggested I drive to campus with my laptop ‍ I really think the website design needs improvement. Simpler navigation and a cleaner layout would make a huge difference because the current setup is unnecessarily confusing for students trying to complete basic tasks online. I really hope that for summer semester all these glitches clear up.
