He had a cardio hip hop class and it was really crowded! What I like is that Anthony breaks everything down for people of all skill levels. Lots of great energy! The women in the back with me, cause I refuse to be in front, were all fun and supportive! However, my running man at the end was walking! LOL! My only complaint is that the AC cannot keep up with the heat that's generated! Yes, this class is fire! Definitely worth checking out classes here! Our daughters enjoyed trying different styles like tap, Broadway jazz, and hip hop before finally deciding to try ballet - which they quickly fell in love with. One of the highlights of every year is the Nutcracker production. I love that even the youngest dancers get meaningful roles they are excited about. My daughters have so much fun participating and look forward to it year after year. What stands out most about 4S Dance is the culture. Still a wonderfully nurturing dance studio with immensely patient and dedicated teachers and staff…read more It's been 9 years, and the studio has grown in space and homegrown talent, which is evident in the ambitious goals the studio successfully executes each year. This is a ballet-based studio with a growing musical theater program, and fun recreational/non-competitive class offerings in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop and even pilates reformer. The ballet side includes a pre-pro program that is intended to nurture students with professional dance aspirations or just want to be in "club level" ballet (i.e. your young 9 year old kid will be there 2-3 times a week and your 12/13+ tween will be there 4/5 times a week multiple hours a day. Dancers participating in shows will have Saturday rehearsals). The AD has an annual assessment (for pre-pro students) to assess goals and steps needed to achieve them. Recently, many of these students have been invited to well known ballet SIs, including PNB, PBT, SAB, and ABT. The AD further supports their school/ballet balance and many of the pre-pro dancers have been waived out of PE through OCIS (Off Campus Independent Study). Annually, the staff presents "the Nutcracker" where all roles (except 1-2 adult male roles, which are professionally filled) are casted by their classically trained students. Over the last 3 years, they've also presented a shorter storybook ballet of similar caliber. Every year we've been here, there has been an end of year recital series, which is the main opportunity for the non-ballet students to present what they've learned in choreographed pieces. The studio has grown to include a musical theater program, which also provides opportunities to shine in "Mini Musicals". Yes, the hallways can be a little "extra", but that's what happens when students love the place so much that they are there for multiple classes in the afternoons, and on rehearsal weekends. And yes, dance can be pricey, but my experience is that the rec level classes are comparable to any other rec level activity my other kid has done with *professional* teachers, it's obviously more expensive than little league or soccer which are volunteer coached. Further, pricing is on a tiered structure, where "the more classes you take, the cheaper your 5th, 6th, 7th, etc class is." And yes - sounds nuts, but many of the pre-pro kids love it there enough that they're there for that many classes. Lastly, I didn't realize how grateful I am for this until my daughter got older, but the owners refuse to allow revealing costumes and uniforms. You'll find the students in leotards/tights, athleisure wear, and tasteful recital costumes - not a booty short or bra/crop top in sight, as I wish dance culture would be. Overall, a great place to be for those with professional ballet aspirations (and who want to be challenged appropriately), or who want to learn other styles for enjoyment without the expectation to compete.

She spends over 15 hours a week here and still looks forward to every class! The friendships she's made and the bond she has with her teacher are so special they've helped her grow not just as a dancer, but as a person. She's now in her third year on the dance team, and what really stands out about West Coast Dance is how supportive and down-to-earth the environment is. It's not the ultra-competitive vibe you sometimes find elsewhere, the dancers genuinely cheer each other on, celebrate each other's wins, and lift each other up. Please keep in mind that this review will be about these classes. I think it's incredibly generous to offer this trial as it allows you to check out several types of dance styles and instructors. They have an app, which I found to be really easy to use. They clearly label which classes are part of the trial and provide confirmation and reminders. The schedule accommodated work schedules and if weekdays were too tight, they had classes on weekends as well. They have 3 studio rooms and they had a person checking people in which could let you know where the class you were taking would be. One studio was large and the other two were about half the size. Each has its own bathroom which was nice. I tried a few Bollywood classes, Latin dance, a barre class and a Tahitian class. While the Bollywood cardio and Latin classes were the most popular, the instructors were all very patient and energetic. The Bollywood cardio class wasn't geared to really teach moves but more for you to follow along as best as you can and hope you get it before the next move. My personal goal is to stay on beat and try to get 60-80% of any class I take which I was easily able to for the classes. There is plenty of parking and the rooms are clean. When I have some discretionary income I'll definitely come back to buy a package so I can keep shaking my groove thang.

First off it's always a little intimidating going to a new work out class but everyone here was very friendly and made me feel welcomed. It is a safe space to express yourself and dance your heart out! All of the instructors I've had so far had amazing energy and shared some great moves that were also easy to follow. I suggest letting the check in person know it's your first class so they can guide you (like borrowing knee pads or grabbing a chair for certain classes). Other than my slight difficulty in finding it and somewhat limited parking (there's a small lot and street parking), I love this place and would highly recommend trying it!
