I was in the neighborhood so I stopped in. It is open but still stocking, a large semi truck in front still unloading. Staff was friendly and working hard at unpacking. They had not seen anything shark related but I looked through anyway as suggested. Mostly what I saw was very commercial tie-in to media topics, games, movies and tv show characters. Nicely packaged and displayed. Moderate prices, but more than I would have paid back in the day for my kids' costumes. We were more of make it ourselves types. But this is what I see as common for parties and trick or treating these days so it's a viable option for common requests and one stop shopping. I will also mention that there are costumes grouped together for the very young set, kitties. ballerinas, cowboys and bunnies and the like. And also, a good selection of adult costumes for parties, and priced accordingly. I did eventually locate what I was looking for at my good old standby, Target.

Plastic axes with a sharp seam that shows where the two pieces came together in production. Rubbish. But also a sense of fun and the true joy of what Halloween really is. An opportunity to be both trashy and child like. Wow. Aren't we lucky to live in a country where we can have a place like this to throw our anger and fear at? I'm stoked there is a pop up store that sells nurse outfits where if the nurse actually wore that, you ask for a different unit because she's not taking the job seriously. Most of it very scary adult costumes. There are 2 children's areas, more my style. In the toddler and preschool age group, there are a lot of Baby Shark options, from baby to daddy if you know the song. All the rage for the last year at preschools and daycares. The staff was very helpful though they ended up not having anything that I was thinking of getting though the place is stuffed with merchandise. I'm probably just not their target customer. There was a security component to their duties it seems as they were concerned about a customer in full costume following me. They should not allow anyone to enter store already in costume unless they are a small child accompanied by an adult in street clothes. Thank you to an alert staff.

I gave them my phone number to look up an account which for whatever reason didn't bring up my Joann's account. Not a big deal, I offered to give my email instead. The register person said they weren't able to look it up that way. I asked if they were sure because I'd done it in the past. After an awkward convo, we didn't find my account. Again - not a huge deal. What really bothered me was the person immediately leaving the register to tell a coworker "that customer was so rude" which I overheard. Customer service can be an annoying job but not insulting customers within earshot is a bare minimum. Will be unfortunately shopping elsewhere as I now feel very uncomfortable in this store.

Many old time locals, some have always been here like Jax, others relocated here like Hapa for a bigger newer space. A few that were new to Boulder a decade ago like Bartaco. On the other side of the heart is Centro. An oldie across the street, still with a strong following, Pasta Jay. Further down that block, the second Boulder location of Gelato Boy, bookending both ends of the mall. It's a nice place to visit at any time of day. The Hop Bus stops on this block. There is some regular parking as well as some handicapped spaces for users of the mall. There are other shops too, but for me, often a meal is involved. Just one little section of our downtown district that I like to visit regularly..
