This Y is outstanding! Superior to other YMCA's and to other gyms in Longont. Even better, my sons love it.

Locker rooms only have one bathroom but there are 2 showers and lockers to use. My friends and I have gone there to take the zumba class that is offered in the upstairs studio every Tues evenings from 6-7pm. It's an awesome class and the teacher, Rhyann, is fantastic!!! I am NOT a dancer and am NOT coordinated at all and definitely have no rhythm BUT I have sooooo much fun in this class that I don't care that I look like a total spaz jumping around the room! The music is energetic and uplifting and Rhyann has really fun routines for each song....AND it is a total workout! I am totally sweating and tired but full of energy after each class (she also teaches at our work gym)....she never makes you feel silly and is always encouraging. Rhyann also changes up the class by introducing new music/routines in so you are never bored...and she is always open to suggestions and ideas.....5 stars for the zumba class! Studio is a little on the small side so it's good for smaller classes, like 10 people, since you MOVE during class....but you have mirrors on 2 sides (since it looks like it's used for dance/ballet as well), so you can see every silly shaking move you make! So, I would highly recommend trying the zumba class out at least once...just to try it! I never thought I would love it as much as i do when I first agreed to try it with a friend :) You can also check out the gym while you are at it...but the zumba classes are separate from the gym itself so you don't need a membership to drop in :)

This review is specifically for Gonzo Tennis Academy, hosted by Longmont Athletic Club. We've…read moretried out a few kids tennis lessons and coaches in different surrounding cities, but Gonzo Tennis Academy is the BEST. Why? Because for my 5 year old and 7 year old kids, they get bored easily and act up, but Coach Gonzo and his brother Coach Diego are FUN and get the kids hitting! My 5 and 7 year old kids have dramatically improved with their technique in the 1 session we've been here and they always wind up laughing so much during their lesson. They talk to the side line parents for quick 10 second tips and advice during the lesson. Everything is broken down for the kids and easy to understand. We've had "tough guy" coaching techniques before, and they just aren't appropriate for this young age...usually my kids get discouraged with that kind of coach attitude. I travel all the way from Broomfield to Longmont because it's totally worth it and very reasonable prices for (non-member) tennis lessons. Oh, and did I mention lessons are *inside* a tennis bubble? Our last tennis session at Broomfield Tennis and Swim club was outside and we often had to cancel lessons due to poor weather, and I just didn't have the time to make up the lessons on alternative days. That, and my kids just hated the Colorado cold and windy days. They mentally gave up on playing before the lesson. We can play all year long and my boys don't have a huge lull between seasons. It's really the best overall place for little kid tennis lessons! Just don't take my 2 spots from my boys, okay? ;D

Absolutely love this gym! It may look a bit small, but they make very efficient use of the space,…read morewith more treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers, and stair-steppers than I've seen at much bigger gyms. All without feeling cramped. The free weights and weight machines can be difficult to get a hold of during peak times--but honestly, that is a problem at every gym. I go before 4 p.m. and rarely have any problems. The clientele is also pretty considerate--I've yet to see people just sitting at a machine watching a 20-minute TV show on their phone, or bros slamming their weights onto the ground before strutting around, expecting you to move out of their way. The restrooms are cleaned frequently, with large locker rooms and showers. Two bottle-filling water stations are available, the TVs play a variety of cable channels, and the free Wi-Fi is plenty fast if you don't have an unlimited cellular plan. Ample parking in the shopping center. They do play their own music, but it isn't so loud that I need to crank up my headphones like I've had to at other gyms. Membership is $10/month, unfortunately only payable by direct debit from your checking account. Combined with the $49 annual fee, it comes out to $169/year. Very affordable. They do charge a $49 signup fee ($10 when I joined), but run frequent promotions that either waive it or lower it to $1 (particularly around the new year). I missed one of those by just a few days, but Chris, the manager, kindly waived it for me. He, along with the rest of the staff, has been great. Always friendly! Three minor downsides: 1) The equipment can take a long time (months) to get fixed when it breaks. Fortunately, so far that has only applied to equipment for which they have spares. When there is only one machine available it has been fixed within 2-3 weeks. I guess that is to be expected with a low membership fee. 2) I wouldn't mind if they switched to individual wipes rather than spray bottles for cleaning the equipment. I'm sure that is also a cost thing, but people can be pretty reckless when spraying. The worst has been when some lady randomly "tested" the spray bottle and doused my entire arm as I walked by. 3) The club is no longer open 24 hours on weekends. That hasn't been an issue for me, but some people have been bothered by it. Finally, two small requests: When the time comes for upgrades/replacements, please consider cardio machines that integrate with Apple GymKit. I also wouldn't mind if you replaced a treadmill or two (and/or ellipticals) with stair-steppers in the future. Thank you!

Gross and noisy. Few people wipe down the machines when they are done including the in-club trainer…read morewho should know better and should be teaching better habits. I got a fungal infection on my forearm after using a machine with arm pads. Most people just walk away from machines after they use it, no cleaning, so I have to spray them down before and after so I don't get their germs. Also machines are frequently wobbly or have loose parts. The staff seems to ignore complaints even when I give the machine number and the specific problem, they just say that a mechanic will get to it. Weeks can go by after I inform staff before anything is done.
