There was a lot to choose from and my daughter tried on several leotards before selecting two. As a very infrequent dance clothes shopper (and dad) I don't have a lot of experience so maybe very reasonable, but more expensive than I had expected. I've always had good luck here with customer service. The prices aren't cheap, but I feel like it's the same at all similar dance stores. And recently I bought a pair of shoes from them and they did not upcharge the price from the shoe brand, so I ended up paying less than I would've if I purchase online and paid s&h, and of course here you have they added benefit of being able to try them on. They did recently change the prices of tights though. They also have a rewards program for returning customers. read more

Loyal customer for 14 years and just was treated rudely and talked to as if I were a liar. No refund policy, bought shoes less than 18 hours. Never took them out of the box! Had my receipt, but all I got was a store credit when I needed the money back. Loyalty meant nothing. The salesperson told me I could return them and never mentioned I would only be getting a credit. Love, love, love this place! My daughter needed her first gymnastics leotard, and we didn't really know what we were going to be looking out for to begin with. We were helped right away, and found the greatest leotard. It's good that they have a changing room to try things on, though, because there are no refunds. Just exchanges. They are very strict with their exchange policy, so be sure to ask about it! They have a LOT of different things: Ballet items, tap items, gymnastics, clothes to go along with these corresponding activities, toys, poms things, etc. There is a LOT to look at here! This is my 4-year-old daughter's first year in dance (ballet/tap), and a friend told us to come here for her shoes and apparel. The staff is wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They're especially great with newbies like us who don't know where to start : ) We purchased her ballet shoes/leotard/tights earlier this summer and her tap shoes today. They fit her for her shoes and she was able to try them out on the mini-ballet/dance floor in the store. I also had my 2-year old son with us both times, and he was kept occupied/entertained by the toy bin they had available in the store, while she tried on the shoes and even when we were at the counter to purchase them. There's a great variety of apparel here, and prices are definitely reasonable. They have a punch-card program too, so after a certain amount spent, you receive a discount on your next purchase. We'll definitely be coming back here often and I highly recommend them to others. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I used to come here all the time when I was younger for all of my dance needs but I don't think I'll ever go again. Was looking for some character shoes, tried a few different ones on but the price was not right, nor was the customer service. The woman helping me acted like I was hassling her the entire time. I decided to wait on this purchase, so I politely got my things together and said "thank you so much for your help". No response from her whatsoever...she pretended like she didn't even hear me! (1) They are inconsistent in their responses regarding store policy and fit of shoes. (2) Their employees (it may be the owner) parks illegally in the lot at times. (3) Their prices are not reasonable. (4) When the store is crowded, the staff get easily frustrated. When the story is empty, they are much more attentive and seem helpful but actually seem to give opinions more than solid fact and knowledge. Too many of them give different suggestions or provide conflicting statements about dance/gymnastic apparell and supplies. Great customer service. Went in to get shoes for a tango dance for the wedding reception and got exactly what we wanted for reasonable prices. They were very knowledgeable and had a decent variety of shoes for different types of dances ( jazz, ballet, ballroom, etc). A great place for special occasion shoes. read more

When the time came for my daughter to transition to Pointe shoes, all the girls and the instructor at our dance studio recommended a visit to Shelly at Dance'N Tees. She spent close to an hour with my daughter bringing out pair after pair of shoes to try on and positioning her in multiple ways to determine proper fit. She gave us her full attention and shared her expert advice, we came away with a great pair of Pointe shoes that my daughter is thrilled with. The store was easy to find and there was a good deal of dance merchandise to browse through. We see why Shelly was recommended to us and we'll be back at Dance'N Tees when she's ready for a new pair. read more

Terrible place! The woman working was incredibly abrasive and rude. My daughter tried on 2 pairs of shoes that didn't feel comfortable. She asked to try on the last option. They didn't have her size. When we asked the size she was giving her to try on the woman said she would not give it to us since we aren't buying from her. We will never go into that dusty store again! read more

Horrible customer service!! I walked in to the store and there were 3-4 girls at the front counter and not a single one acknowledged me. Instead they were all talking about a friend who was having a baby and her labor would be induced. I was looking for my daughters first leotard for gymnastics and wasn't quite sure about the sizing. Unfortunately, none of them were available to ask because they were to busy with their personal conversation. I found a leotard that looked like it might be a good fit and asked where I could pay, and the woman directed me to the middle counter. The woman at the register was on the phone complaining about another co worker "the new girl". Needless to say... I had to stand there and listen to that whole conversation before she could check me out and i could get the hell out here. I then asked if these items didn't, could I return and she responded by saying that no refunds only exchanges. So I hope the leotards and shorts I purchased will fit, so that I do not have to return to this place! read more

I love this place. We've purchased leos for ballet and got them at great prices. They have a much bigger selection than other stores in Chicagoland. I like that they were careful about selling pointe shoes to just anyone. We found their staff to be very matter of fact and helpful. Perhaps they don't have the warmest customer service, but I really liked this store and will shop here as often as I can. read more

I will never shop here or refer this business to any of the other dance moms. I had purchased two pairs of tights and a leotard for $63, which is expensive, but like to give local shops business. I asked to use the bathroom, I am 39 weeks pregnant. The cashier said the bathrooms are not for the public, but due to my obvious state, it would probably be ok. She asked two women in the front office. They said no. I returned my purchase and said I will NEVER RETURN. I will make sure the dance moms in know how rude they were, especially after a purchase was made! That is no way to gain a customer. I am just disappointed that I have spent lots of money over the past few years at this establishment. I also see another review that mentioned they were denied the use of the bathroom. I know of a dance store in Geneva.. I will gladly drive the extra distance. read more

Just got taken advantage of at Dance N Tees!! I need a pair of performance tights for my daughter and happened to be in Schaumburg. I was going for several pairs until the staff showed me the tights I saw a price of $14 which is twice as much as we normally pay for performance tights. If we didn't need them tomorrow I wouldn't have bought them. Then she rings them up and they appear to come up lower in their system. She shows the other staff member the computer and then changes the price and says normally it's the other way around (meaning it's higher and she needs to mark it lower to match the item in store). I then asked her how much was in the computer before she changed it, she hesitated for a moment and then said $16. So not only are they double charging me for an item they are lying to me about it. I will never go back to this store and I caution others to know their prices if they do decide to shop here. They are not honest and will lie right to your face. read more

If i could give negative stars, I would. HORRIBLE customer service. HORRIBLE. Upon asking the sales person for the shoe my daughter would like to try on, i was promptly asked "are you planning on purchasing today?" In my head i thought what difference would that make anyhow; but i was honest and said "no, unfortunately i have found the shoe elsewhere for much less and we would just like to see, touch and try this shoe on." I was immediately and curtly told "well then I cannot let you see the shoe". This exchange turned into her going into the back, getting the owner who came out and told me "i have to pay taxes and the workers..." and it went on from there. From that point, an additional 3 ladies came out from offices, one of which began harrassing and literally yelling at me stating "WE ARE BARELY SURVIVING HOW CAN WE LET YOU TRY A SHOE ON YOU DO NOT PLAN TO PURCHASE". I am sorry, but this is not how a business works. Actually, it is opposite. It was awful... Now I will also add that we have purchased SEVERAL items and a couple hundreds of dollars of goods at DnTs- - so its not like I have never purchased here. I was very clear and said I would love to purchase locally, if the price can be matched to which I was yelled at. It was a horrible experience, one my three small children saw. Additionally, bad for DnT's as friends happened to be in the store, saw the exchange and put their items back and left and said they would never be coming back either. Bummer local business has to be so bad- the Customer Service and just plain old people skillls were totally ABSENT and they were down right rude. read more
