The costumes are always tasteful, the choreography is consistently age-appropriate in a world that tends to push kids to grow up too quickly, and--most importantly--our girls look forward to dance every single week. On a more personal note, our oldest daughter went through a difficult medical journey where she experienced severe frontal lobe volume loss and significant memory challenges. During her recovery, her neurology team encouraged us to find an activity that could help rebuild memory and strengthen new neural pathways. We decided to try Step x Step, and it has been one of the biggest blessings for her healing. The team met her exactly where she was, encouraged her with patience and compassion, and helped her rediscover confidence in herself. She has grown so much--not only as a dancer but as a person. I love almost any kind of music but definitely hip hop has a special place in my heart. It is really the first type of Western music that truly got me into listening to music and expanded my mind. Since then, my music repertoire has grown quite broad, diverse and fulfilling. If there is one thing I cannot live without, music is definitely one of those things. How could this child of Taiwanese immigrants connect with hip hop? Well, the thing is, music doesnt need explaining. It reaches deep down inside somewhere and it brings such delight and joy, and it truly transforms and heals. But, yea, I digress... For the past 5 or 6 years, Ive been listening to K pop too and watching dance videos and honestly I am at a point where my body wants to fully learn some dance moves, whether it be K pop, but even better, hip hop...or whatever genre where there is some sequence to follow along with the music. I checked on mindbody to see if any dance classes offered where I am and it was my lucky day! Found this studio not far from me and there was a beginner hip hop class tonight that worked with my schedule, so I showed up! Instructor was great, he taught us some very basic moves and the studio is spacious, with lots of mirrors and the other side of it opens out to a back parking lot. Our instructor had us line up on one side of class and then taught us some moves and we practiced our moves to the othet side. This went on for the first half of class. He did taught us a simple sequence and that was super fun and we got to try it with a few different hip hop songs. He was very positive, shared a bit about the history of hip hop (which is very neat history) and mainly told us to have fun while teaching us some fun moves! I had a great time and definitely will be back when I wanna add some dance into all my other body movement fun I like to have!! Awesome studio, great teachers, staff are nice, prices are fair, and easy parking. Im definitely getting my groove on here again soon!

He had a cardio hip hop class and it was really crowded! What I like is that Anthony breaks everything down for people of all skill levels. Lots of great energy! The women in the back with me, cause I refuse to be in front, were all fun and supportive! However, my running man at the end was walking! LOL! My only complaint is that the AC cannot keep up with the heat that's generated! Yes, this class is fire! Definitely worth checking out classes here! It is a little far for me, but I will definitely be back!

Still a wonderfully nurturing dance studio with immensely patient and dedicated teachers and staff…read more It's been 9 years, and the studio has grown in space and homegrown talent, which is evident in the ambitious goals the studio successfully executes each year. This is a ballet-based studio with a growing musical theater program, and fun recreational/non-competitive class offerings in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop and even pilates reformer. The ballet side includes a pre-pro program that is intended to nurture students with professional dance aspirations or just want to be in "club level" ballet (i.e. your young 9 year old kid will be there 2-3 times a week and your 12/13+ tween will be there 4/5 times a week multiple hours a day. Dancers participating in shows will have Saturday rehearsals). The AD has an annual assessment (for pre-pro students) to assess goals and steps needed to achieve them. Recently, many of these students have been invited to well known ballet SIs, including PNB, PBT, SAB, and ABT. The AD further supports their school/ballet balance and many of the pre-pro dancers have been waived out of PE through OCIS (Off Campus Independent Study). Annually, the staff presents "the Nutcracker" where all roles (except 1-2 adult male roles, which are professionally filled) are casted by their classically trained students. Over the last 3 years, they've also presented a shorter storybook ballet of similar caliber. Every year we've been here, there has been an end of year recital series, which is the main opportunity for the non-ballet students to present what they've learned in choreographed pieces. The studio has grown to include a musical theater program, which also provides opportunities to shine in "Mini Musicals". Yes, the hallways can be a little "extra", but that's what happens when students love the place so much that they are there for multiple classes in the afternoons, and on rehearsal weekends. And yes, dance can be pricey, but my experience is that the rec level classes are comparable to any other rec level activity my other kid has done with *professional* teachers, it's obviously more expensive than little league or soccer which are volunteer coached. Further, pricing is on a tiered structure, where "the more classes you take, the cheaper your 5th, 6th, 7th, etc class is." And yes - sounds nuts, but many of the pre-pro kids love it there enough that they're there for that many classes. Lastly, I didn't realize how grateful I am for this until my daughter got older, but the owners refuse to allow revealing costumes and uniforms. You'll find the students in leotards/tights, athleisure wear, and tasteful recital costumes - not a booty short or bra/crop top in sight, as I wish dance culture would be. Overall, a great place to be for those with professional ballet aspirations (and who want to be challenged appropriately), or who want to learn other styles for enjoyment without the expectation to compete.

My 6-year old daughter has been attending LDI for about 1.5 years and participated in 1-week of their Jr. Ballet Intensive summer programs this week. So much was covered in 5-days and she was excited to share about the yoga session, wellness session, learning choreography, ballet, jazz, hip-hop!
