The instructors, Jeff and Cindy are so great! They are welcoming, encouraging, and professional. There are many regulars that attend the basics class as a warm up and then take the level 2 class an hour later. I have gone to 3 classes and plan on taking more in the future. I have also attended a members social that had food, drinks, music, and two hours of fun. Everyone that I have met at the classes are friendly and patient when I ask questions or get the moves wrong. I feel that I can only get better with practice and experience. There are other classes offered at the ballroom like Salsa,Tango, Country Two-Step,Country Swing and more! This is Northern Nevada's only nonprofit dance studio and they are doing everything they can to get everyone dancing. The research on partnership dancing and aging has been phenomenal! That alone should encourage everyone to dance! The Ballroom offers a free Dance With Me program for those who have cognitive and/or mobility issues such as Parkinson's or dementia. There is an afterschool program through Reno Housing Authority in underserved areas. There is also a program for young children! Last night was the annual fundraiser Gala for the studio and what fun we all had. What wonderful performances by all. And yes, I have the parent's permission to post the pictures of the youngest student to perform at the studio!

The instructor's were kind, explained things well, and very helpful for anyone who had questions. We had the opportunity during the lesson to switch partners frequently which made it even more fun! The class is about an hour long and afterwards you can stay for another hour for a social dance, which is great because you can work on what you learned during the lesson. I chose to take a class with Ana and I left feeling confused, time wasted, and learned absolutely nothing. It wasn't a fun class more like a fitness class with a couple of moves I wouldn't start beginners at. They need to put on the website to bring your own pole grip because when I asked they said I didn't need to bring anything other than a water bottle that they would provide everything else. Even the music was horrible. Anyways when I get there and ask about grip they point me to this shelf with nothing organized and just a bunch of tester free grip bottles that were basically bone dry. When I climbed she told me I did it completely wrong she even chuckled. Very much felt like a mean girl who grew up because she was only nice and truly helping those who had been coming to this class frequently and you could tell. The way she climbs isn't the same as how I do and that should be perfectly fine. When she explained things it really didn't make any sense and I just left extremely disappointed. This was a few months ago and I do not plan on returning.

Tonight I tried the class for the first time and it was so much fun. The teacher and the students were all welcoming and I didn't feel judged for my lack of dancing skill! Escape uses blacklights because they believe fitness is about how you feel, not how you look. With loud music, high energy, great instructors, you'll finish your workout feeling stronger and more pumped up than ever. Memberships are a little out of my price range but drop in classes every few weeks are totally reasonable. I'll always be a fan of Escape and its unique workout experience.
