I came here with a group and the review was a mix. However I am gonna talk just about my experience. I tried Poke ball and made my own. To start I was blown away with just the number of choices that was available. I personally think I did a pretty good job with my choices and ingredients. And I absolutely loved it. The boba is also pretty good here. So I would even recommend this spot for Boba tea. One thing I would want to share though is the Wasabi is super heated and hot here. Just a tiny dot of wasabi - it was enough to make me cry. Really good stuff !! Ambience is nice and service is reasonably quick. read more

We were excited to try out this restaurant. It is nice to see BloNo getting different types of restaurants. Dang Banh Mi & Poke is a great option with a variety of Vietnamese options to enjoy. My husband and I started with an order of Gyoza. They were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crunch and the filling had great flavor. My husband went for the traditional Banh Mi sandwich. The portion size was large enough to fill him up! The flavor of the meat and other ingredients was a great combo together. I had the Dang Poke bowl. The portion size was more than enough for my lunch. The fish and other ingredients were delicious. It came with a bowl of Miso soup which also had great flavor. The counter service was friendly and helpful. They did a great job remodeling the space. It is clean, bright, and you can't tell it was a former fast food restaurant. read more

Although initially late to the party for this new place that just took over the former main Arby's location in Blm, I've now had 3 separate items from this Peoria-based venture and while I have been impressed, it's mostly based on the uniqueness of their menu for this area. There just isn't enough of either primary dish in town and when you factor in the teriyaki bowls, wide smattering of Asian apps, bubble teas and smoothies (the latter 2 of which I have zero authority on), it stands to reason that if the place can avoid the employee shortage problems other businesses have experienced here, they should be fairly popular. Especially with such a central location and a high comfort level with digital orders and delivery. The remodel was fairly minimal and could in fact use a few more tables, but the place is super clean and seems to have more than enough employees (from an authenticity perspective, most of them are still working on their English skills) and the service was both fast and friendly - even at the heart of the lunch rush. The best of the 3 items for me was the poke bowl. I got the 'Dang Signature' (includes tuna and salmon) and it was more of a lunch than I could finish with plenty of fish. It also features a ton of avocado, edamame, and mangos (not something I've typically seen). They offer beds of white or brown rice, or greens and do not lay the sauce on too heavy, but the bowl is nicely seasoned overall. I would put this on par with the now shuttered Pokeworks, although you will not find those incredible cold veggie noodles and they don't offer the ingredients in 'roll' form. I also tried the 'Classic' banh mi sammich with Chinese bologna, pork and pate'. Although definitely tasty and different, I ordered that one thinking it would be the most filling, but the veggies inside seemed more plentiful?! Perhaps the fact that I always order EZ mayo contributed, but when the bread is too much, even AFTER it's been hollowed out a bit, next time I'll be changing things up. I also had the gyoza and if you prefer more of a chicken filling than pork, you'll probly like these. I don't think they were home made and needless to say I personally am still on a quest for a great minced pork dumpling in this town. Although nothing blew me away, it's a great new local option (3.8 star range) and after perhaps trying a teriyaki bowl I'll look to start dialing-in my preferred poke bowl - and that alone makes me happy to welcome these guys to town. read more

I really enjoy the food from Dang Banh Mi, and my go to is the Classic Banh Mi. The sandwich is filling - enough for 2 lunches - with plenty of meat and the classic banh mi veggies. The bread roll is satisfyingly crispy, making it a great banh mi. While I've eaten in the restaurant a few times, it's very convenient for me to order on the app and pick up in the drive through. That said, I had to knock off a star for my recent experience with the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken. I love and can handle spicy food but I was disappointed with this dish. The chicken was overcooked and dry, and the spice level was overwhelming--bordering on inedible. The chili had a powdery texture, like someone tipped a jar of chili powder over it. This overshadowed the flavors, which isn't what I've come to expect from Vietnamese spicy lemongrass chicken. Typically, this dish is made with Thai chilies or sambal oelek, offering a balanced, bold heat that enhances the dish rather than overpowering it. Unfortunately, this missed the mark and I won't be ordering it again. read more

The service was great the workers were super nice and the food was the best Ive ever had. I ordered the shumai and crab Rangoons, the rangoons were nice and creamy and the sauce it came it with was delicious. The boba they serve there was what I consider the best to be here in Bloomington. The pearls weren't too chewy and were slightly warm, which comes off as a bad thing but I got the brown sugar tapioca so it actually made it better. The restaurant itself has a nice appearance to it, there's no harsh colors, it's perfect for anyone obsessed with taking influencer-type photos of their food to post, and as soon as I opened that door the smells that whacked me in the face had me obsessed. I fully recommend for people to try it, especially if you like kobe or pho bowl. read more

An amazing place to get unique sandwiches and rice bowls. The food is fresh and tasty. The crab racoon was bursting with filling!!! The fried octopus balls were so warm and savory. They've got a really solid banh mi, fresh soft bread, great meat to veggie ratio, and the combo for a drink is only $12 which isn't half bad especially with how big the sandwich is. The boba is good but personally the Vietnamese coffee is a must try. The wait times were just a bit long but I'm sure that'll get ironed out once they've been open longer. Overall, the food could be worse but it is nowhere near worth the price. The fish tastes very fishy and not very fresh and the radish kimchi doesn't have a good kimchi flavor. I love spicy food, but the radish kimchi was all spice and nothing else. The matcha milk tea itself was pretty good, but their boba tastes like the canned boba you can get from the grocery store. Not very chewy and it kind of just falls apart the second you bite into it. I love miso soup but theirs was very very bland and tasted like they didn't really add much miso into it. The gyoza kind of tasted like the frozen gyoza you can get from the supermarket and microwave. The flavor was good and the gyoza itself wasn't bad, just low quality. I feel bad because I'm sure the employees are doing their best, the food they have to work with just could be better. Overall, it was not worth the $80 we spent. The food isn't terrible, but it's pretty obvious that it's very low quality for the price. read more

Really disappointed. I loved the food from the Peoria location. But the food tastes completely different at the Bloomington. I ordered the grilled pork bahn mi sandwich like I always do. The pork is usually flavorful, savory and a little sweet. But the pork on this sandwich deff was not marinated and it only tasted like salt. The sandwich overall was terribly bland and it was all bread. It had NO veggies! Where were my veggies?!? Not coming back. So confused. I hope they can figure it out otherwise they are not going to make it. read more

My first time to the resturant as well as sampling Vietnamese food I want to tell you the service was great! I don't like spicy foods so the cashier that took my order walked me through everything and I got the Poke bowl with chicken and pork You get to choose everything and even includes a small bowl of soup. I don't usually pay $14.95 for a lunch but trust me...there was plenty left over for dinner!!! I highly recommend it! read more
