Over cooked, over spicy, and very dry spicy lemongrass chicken

I really enjoy the food from Dang Banh Mi, and my go to is the Classic Banh Mi. The sandwich is filling - enough for 2 lunches - with plenty of meat and the classic banh mi veggies. The bread roll is satisfyingly crispy, making it a great banh mi. While I've eaten in the restaurant a few times, it's very convenient for me to order on the app and pick up in the drive through. That said, I had to knock off a star for my recent experience with the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken. I love and can handle spicy food but I was disappointed with this dish. The chicken was overcooked and dry, and the spice level was overwhelming--bordering on inedible. The chili had a powdery texture, like someone tipped a jar of chili powder over it. This overshadowed the flavors, which isn't what I've come to expect from Vietnamese spicy lemongrass chicken. Typically, this dish is made with Thai chilies or sambal oelek, offering a balanced, bold heat that enhances the dish rather than overpowering it. Unfortunately, this missed the mark and I won't be ordering it again.

Highly recommend. I love the make your Own bowl. Amazing flavor and always fresh and hot. Service is always fast and places to sit and eat. Small dining area. Definitely try it out

Wow! Hidden gem in Blono! Poke Bowl rivals quality from the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to! Crab rangoon is authentic and DELISH! They have Boba. The inside is super cute and modern. The staff is attentive and accommodating. If you haven't stopped in, you're missing

Strawberry shake, coconut milk tea with brown sugar tapioca, shumai, and crab rangoons

The service was great the workers were super nice and the food was the best Ive ever had. I ordered the shumai and crab Rangoons, the rangoons were nice and creamy and the sauce it came it with was delicious. The boba they serve there was what I consider the best to be here in Bloomington. The pearls weren't too chewy and were slightly warm, which comes off as a bad thing but I got the brown sugar tapioca so it actually made it better. The restaurant itself has a nice appearance to it, there's no harsh colors, it's perfect for anyone obsessed with taking influencer-type photos of their food to post, and as soon as I opened that door the smells that whacked me in the face had me obsessed. I fully recommend for people to try it, especially if you like kobe or pho bowl.

Awesome, highly recommend. Got a bahnmi and a poke bowl and they're both delicious. Next time we'll get some Boba for the full review.

    Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi (chay)

Great vegan options. The tofu teriyaki was good but on the bland side. It needed something else added to make it pop. The tofu banh mi sandwich was delicious! Wonderful flavors, crunch, crusty bread.... Can't wait to eat here again!

Love their Banh mi and poke bowl. They've consistently provided the same quality food each time. Price is reasonable as well.

Dang, that's some good boba…read more After devouring a large meal at Hong Kong Buffet and walking around a bookstore to let the food settle (and pick up a few books), I asked if Tim if he had room for some boba. He said 'sure' and here we are. I completely forgot this place existed until I was looking around on Yelp for new places to try. Thank gosh for a dull moment of internet browsing at work. We waddled in and immediately didn't know what to order. The menu was a lot bigger than I expected for a space so small. Tim tried to explain a Poke bowl to me but said it was something you just have to experience or google. Seeing as we were both still full from lunch, the time to learn from experience would have to come another day. I settled on a Coffee Milk Tea with cinnamon boba and Tim got this unique Matcha with cream cheese foam with strawberry jelly. We plopped down on some chairs and waited for our drinks to come out. It took a bit longer than I expected but the place was hopping and there were tons of orders being picked up and there was almost an endless line of people placing orders. The wait was probably 10 minutes but not too bad for how steady they were. Tim and I slowly put down our drinks as we chatted about the various aspects of life. My first sip was extremely delicious and sweet. After a few sips, the peak delicious faded and turned into a drink that was good but leaving you yearning for that sweet sweet sweetness. Could be that it needed blended a bit more. Either way, it was pleasant even with the drink settling as the cup became more and more empty. In hindsight, maybe it was best the drink evened out after demolishing plates at a buffet. During our time, we saw a lot of college kids come and go while a few couples hung around and enjoyed their food. Bradley University students probably love this place. The interior is very narrow and the sitting area, while plenty of seats, isn't conducive to a long term hangout. Grab your meal, enjoy, chat for a bit, then head out. But not every place has to be geared towards people like me who likes to sit and chat for awhile. It's cool to see Peoria have such a varied amount of cultural places to sample; from Chinese to Vietnamese to Italian to Mexican to Mediterranean. If time allows, I would love to come back and try one of these mystery Poke bowls. Until then, stay boba-licious!

The name itself is deceiving because they offer mostly Japanese types of items like bento boxes, udon, sushi, and what not. I was genuinely not impressed with their menu selection and was very sad to see their Korean items go. It's not as great as they used to be. To be honest, I'm shocked their still in business with how much their menu has changed. They have some decent deals for lunch combos, but other than that I don't know if it's worth going there. I'm sad to say but it's not a "Korean bowl." They need to change the name to J-Bowl to appropriately describe the current menu items they now offer.

Then you fill out a paper that lists all the ingredients. Easy and convenient. The medium sized bowls were way bigger than I expected and the fish was fresh with large portion sizes. Quality place. Hubby said "That's the freshest fish I had lately, we should bring that guy back with us to Peoria, except then he would start serving the crappy fish they got down there" Yeah...He's a little sushi jaded since our trip to Japan. I guess they serve other things besides poke here but I didn't really see another menu. The ambiance is pretty sterile with water as your only drinking option. However, it's a great place to grab a quick lunch or get take out.

The restaurant is located at The Fields, just off Staley and Curtis roads. It is right around the corner from El Toro at The Fields. Hooray for finally getting more lunch options on the southwest side of Champaign-Urbana! There is a check off list for ordering a poke bowl. I opted for a regular bowl for $9.50 (king bowl is $10.75). My first choice was for the protein -- raw tuna and crab. For my base, I chose both brown rice and mixed greens. Next up: veggies. You can choose up to three without incurring additional costs. I selected red cabbage, cucumbers and seaweed salad. For my three toppings, I chose masago, jalapenos and fried onions. To finish the bowl off, I selected spicy mayo and added $1 to my cost to get today's special, a piece of tempura shrimp added. I took my bowl to go. There was soy sauce and wasabi available for eating in or take out. The owner/manager also gave me a small bowl of miso soup. The verdict: Excellent lunch! The miso was very good. I am generally not a huge fan of miso, but this was great! The ingredients in the bowl all appeared to be very fresh and were certainly tasty. Bravo! I definitely think that King Kuma is a winner and a great place to go for a reasonably priced healthy lunch.
