I used Dani Weiss for my wedding, as well both of my little girl's birth and newborn photos. This summer we did our first family portraits at Golden Gardens with Dani as well. We were new to Seattle when we were looking for a wedding photographer. Dani clicked with us right away. When we met she spent a good deal of time with us reviewing our location (it was outdoors on a beach). She was willing to go wherever, and had good ideas for back up photo locations in case the Seattle weather didn't comply. Lucky for us all went well. The pictures during the service were wonderful, everything moment- even my bridesmaid wiping away tears. Also very good pictures after the ceremony. One of our pics made it into the Knot magazine, which was really fun. A year later she came to our home to do a session of newborn photos with my family, my parents enjoyed her demeanor and we had a really good time together. Everyone was comfortable and relaxed- from which we got great pics! (My father hates getting his photo taken). I recommend her all the way, if you're into a real personal experience. Dani shot our wedding in October 2010 as well as our mid September engagement photos. She is great at understanding what we wanted and to make sure our various poses and backgrounds for the formal pictures reflected our style and sense of fun. the candid wedding pictures are also very good, and she managed to get really lovely group shots of our dances and a terrific picture of my wife up on a chair and me being pushed around her (I didn't want to be lifted up in the air) Her photos of the details like the table decorations and the food were really incredible and looked like professional art shots. I made the center pieces myself and I was shocked at how lovely her photos made them look. same was true of the food pictures and the cake. My partner and I did a lot of research and deliberated thoroughly before hiring a photographer for our July 2008 wedding. We were looking for someone who would take excellent photos to tell the story of the day, but it was equally important to us that we find someone with whom we were comfortable, someone who would not be at all squeamish about two men walking down the aisle. We didn't want to break the bank, but we agreed that photography was important enough to be one of our bigger expenses, since the images would shape our memories of the day and last a lifetime. We found Dani's website online, and then met her the very next day at a wedding show. And we kept running into her! She showed us her work, took the time to meet with us, and really won us over. As I mentioned already, we did interview a number of other photographers but we kept coming back to Dani because of her experience, professionalism, quality and, frankly, her humor. Leading up to our wedding, she was extremely helpful with reminders and recommendations. About a month before our wedding, I got the idea of doing a large group shot of all of our wedding guests together; Dani and I discussed the pros and cons, and she was very willing to try and make that happen for us (which she did, beautifully). On the day of the wedding, she and her second shooter were absolute pros, so pleasant, fun and thorough. The photos they took for us do indeed capture the people, details, and both the big and small moments of the day, but the emotion also comes through very strongly--such beautiful and loving shots. Dani is just wonderful. I am not the kind of person who really enjoys having her photo taken. I get stiff and awkward and am not very photogenic. The first time we met Dani I was completely at ease. We used Dani as our Wedding Photographer in 2006 and are very happy with her and our photos. From the moment we got in touch with Dani- she was so helpful and knowledgeable and we felt that she had a vision of what we were wanting. Dani was a "find"! I wanted someone able to deal with a large family grouping with a 3 month old up to an 88 year old in an off site location. Her web site was polished, but she was precise and descriptive enough that I felt confident to have her work with us. She was a true professional. Dani is the best! She did all the photography for my son's bar mitzvah. There were two shoots, one was half inside and half outside during the day and the other was indoors at night. All the pictures came out so great! Dani can do beautiful family portraits, but the real gems in my opinion were all the spontaneous, action shots she got of people talking, dancing, and celebrating. There were so many pictures that I just loved that showed all of us relaxed and having the best time. Dani also really helped me during the planning stages of this event. Whenever I tell someone about Dani Weiss, I have to point out that she has RIDICULOUS skills. She shot 35mm film (the wedding was 2001), and I've looked at the proofs of all of these rolls of film and 100% of them are keepers. How the heck does someone do that??? Working with Dani was such a easy process! What you might not realize going into relationship with a photographer for a wedding is how long the actual process will be. It isn't just about your special day, even though that day is important and you need someone who is up to the task. Really you need someone who isn't going to drop the ball afterwards! After reading many reviews on Yelp, Wedding Wire and others I decided to call Dani Weiss, who was fortunately available. We had barely five weeks notice before my daughter's wedding. Research on my own had yielded dubious results for other vendors, so Dani's experience and input for the florist, the caterer and the DJ were critical for the resulting excellent ceremony and reception. Dani worked with my daughter and me on preparatory details of the photography. She requested a list of the shots we wanted and provided essential guidance on the timeline of events so the photography worked seamlessly with the ceremony, the catering, the DJ and the florist. Dani did an amazing job with our wedding photos! From the very beginning in the planning phase she guided us through every step of the process, making sure that we understood the pros & cons of each decision. She helped us make the best use of her time with us. She helped us prepare our photo lists so that we could get all the shots that we wanted to and not spend a whole lot of time trying to corral all the family for photos. During the family portraits she moved through all of them, guiding everyone where they needed to be efficiently but with control the entire time so that she was able to get all the photos that we had requested.
