Additionally, proposing over Thanksgiving weekend requires planning far in advance to be sure that all of your options for photographers are not out of town. I, stupidly, did not appreciate that fact until it was two days prior to my proposal and I frenetically decided to change photographers. After numerous strike outs, a deep dive on Yelp brought me to Gianna's page. She, fortunately, was one of the few well-reviewed photographers available for a last minute proposal shoot. Booking with her occurred breezily through email and Venmo, and Gianna remained in constant touch in the days leading up to the proposal. On the day of, Gianna was responsive, punctual, and professional. She kept in touch and remained flexible despite some unforeseen snafus in planning. Even after the big moment, Gianna worked patiently with us. She and her assistant wrangled my rowdy group with ease and spent plenty of time to ensure our special day was captured ideally. After poring over dozens of photographers' portfolios, websites, reviews, and Instagram pages, my fiancee and I, with the help of our wedding planner (Wedding Belles), decided on Leigh Wolfe of Leigh Wolfe Photography. We are very happy with Leigh. We decided on Leigh for a few reasons: 1. Her pictures look great. Her pictures are bright, clear, vivid, and crisp. They have a timeless look to them. She captures events really well. I like the composition and angle of her shots. Other photographers have trendy looks that I'm not keen on (for example, some like to use a "faded" or "filtery" look which I don't want on my wedding photos). 2. She is familiar with our venue, the Atlanta History Center and Swan House. 3. She was recommended by our wedding planner. (We found Leigh independent of our planner as well.) 4. Her packages were within our wedding budget. Before hiring Leigh, we had an initial meeting with her and our wedding planner. We got to know her and take a look at some of her work in person (she brought samples). When we made it official with Leigh, we received an unexpected thank you package in the mail. It contained a personal handwritten thank you card from Leigh and various goodies including a bottle of Prosecco. We went with the Signature Collection. It comes with a lot of stuff including 9 hours of wedding day coverage with a 2nd photographer plus a complimentary engagement session, wedding and engagement albums (65 images in a 10x10 wedding album, 25 images in an 8x8 engagement album), a complimentary wedding website and heirloom registry, and more. Leigh helped us decide on our engagement session locations. We wanted to do something in Atlanta and she knows the city well. Our engagement session ended up taking place at Irwin Street Market, the BeltLine, Jackson Street Bridge, and Atlantic Station (where we live). Atlanta means a lot to my fiancee and me and I was really happy with the locations. Our engagement session with Leigh was a lot of fun. She came prepared with her holster of cameras and camera equipment. Shooting with her was a breeze. I just did what I was told. She directed us. She told us where to stand, how to walk, where to look, and how to pose. Her cheerful and energetic personality made the shoot easy. She really put in the work and effort to get us some amazing shots. The engagement session ended up lasting about 3 hours (!) which is longer than the typical session. That was because we went to multiple locations and had to contend with less-than-ideal weather. Also, I asked Leigh if we could go to an extra location so that took additional time. I realize and appreciate that she went above and beyond for our engagement session. We met with Leigh about two weeks after our engagement session to look at all of our engagement photos. This was called the reveal and design session. She had taken about 800 photos and culled them down to 91. From those 91, my fiancee and I chose our favorites, which turned out to be 48 photos. Those 48 photos ended up going into our engagement album which Leigh designed with input from us. Since the Signature Collection we purchased only included 25 photos in our engagement album, we did have to pay for 23 additional photos. I did not hesitate paying because I thought it was worth it. Considering the amount of work and effort she puts in, I think her prices are fair and reasonable. Along with the hard album, we got digital versions of the 48 photos and a video slideshow with music. My fiancee and I love the pictures. They turned out phenomenal, especially considering it was cold, rainy, and windy during our shoot. We couldn't be happier with them. As for the hard album, it's fantastic. It's very high quality with extra thick pages and wonderful textures. The album flows well and it feels good to hold. Leigh even hand-delivered it when it was ready. One thing that really sets Leigh apart from the competition is how personable she is. She has taken a lot of time to meet and get to know us as a couple. Not only is she practical when it comes to photography, but she's also very much about the experience and making her clients feel special. We did not have any extensive conversations regarding my vision but I realize now that he has the EYE and really did not need my input. His team arrived early and were professional busy camera men capturing all the moments. There was even a drone operator. Boy, did they come through for us. After looking through a few portfolios of local photographers we came across Barbara Naso. I was immediately drawn to her style. There were real smiles! No posed, awkward grimaces. She is a documentary style photographer and that is exactly what she did, document my family how we were on our wedding day. I wasn't sure what to expect at first but included in our package was an hour "pre shoot" (which I would absolutely recommend) at my house with friends. This shoot made me comfortable with Barbara and her style. She completely blends in with the surroundings. By the time she was done I knew I had a friend shooting my wedding. At first we were a little nervous about the price of the day, but I will honestly say it was worth every penny. And compared to other photographers were offering she was there for much longer and captured much, MUCH more. After the wedding when I checked in with my family about the day, every one of them raved about how Barbara was kind, warm, and a part of the family. My nephew deemed it necessary to chase her with a frog (an obvious initiation to our family.) I very rarely enjoy pictures that are taken of me, I get uncomfortable and make silly faces. I was nervous waiting on the "preview" photos from Barbara. When I received them a few days ago, I was overwhelmed. They are simply perfect. My husband felt the same way.
