Over the past 30 years, I've had the great fortune to be a patient of a number of terrific chiropractors and alternative health practitioners. But I have to say that Dr. Auer is among the best - if not THE best - I've seen. I value his integrated and holistic approach - incorporating nutritional, structural, and emotional elements. But beyond that, what I've found to be truly unique is that he is practical and meets me where I'm at (vs. pushing a set philosophy or formula on me). He has an amazing way of knowing how much change I'm ready for at any given time and helps me to progress at the rate that I'm able to go in terms of changing my diet, etc. AND he is realistic about the stresses in my fast paced job and challenges of being a working mom. In addition, his adjustments are super and have been critical to getting me back on the road to recovery after an injury. He also has a great network of other folks (life coaches, personal trainers, etc.) that I've used from time to time and have found to be extremely helpful. I initially saw Dr. Auer because my two kids and I were almost constantly on antibiotics for a period of years for sinus infections, strep throat, and ear infections. This doc is precise. After each adjustment, he used muscle testing again to verify that the calibration would hold. I found Dr. Auer on Yelp and went to him based on the strong reviews posted. I've never seen a holistic doctor so was unsure about what to expect. I came in to see him because I was having digestive and wrist inflammation issues. For the digestive issues, he prescribed some enzymes and other supplements and within a few weeks, I felt back to normal. I also had a food allergy test done and was surprised to learn that I'm allergic to soy, whey, and a few other foods that I consume a lot. After eliminating them from my diet, I at first felt a "bit off" but have since felt better and have lost some weight (nice bonus). My energy levels have improved, too. The wrist issues were trickier, though, and it's something that took more time to fix. I saw a physio and accupuncturist, in addition to Dr. Auer, so can't say which had the greater effect. Dr. Auer provided cold laser therapy on it as well as chiropractic procedures. I am happy to say that my wrist is much better and I plan on keeping it that way through regular stretching. Overall, I think Dr. Auer is very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. I am thankful that I did not need to see him due to serious health issues but in the event that I do, I would go back. The only caveat, and this something I need to get used to being a recent transplant to the US is the higher cost of health care here. My insurance did not cover the bills since he's out of network but at least it's better than going to an in-network doctor only to be given the practice of prescribing drugs and standard procedures (that adds up, too) that likely would not have helped. In less than 4 months time, Dr. Auer has improved my health immensely. I came to Dr. Auer being generally healthy but with nagging complaints of low grade fatigue, some insomnia, daily afternoon headaches, and vague low grade digestion issues. Those symptoms are now totally gone. My regular general practitioner would offer advice like, "here's a pamphlet about reducing stress", "try walking more often", "being a 40-something mom of 2 kids is demanding", "if the sleep problem continues, maybe we can think about Ambien". What a difference compared with my visit to Dr. Auer. My first visit was what healthcare should look like: professional, comprehensive (not just focused on 1 or 2 issues), and relaxed, with time for coaching and questions. What a difference in approach and what a difference in results! I'm still a bit amazed that these problems were eradicated so quickly. While this type of healthcare is not inexpensive, it's been a great investment. (Seriously, solid deep sleep is SO worth it!) All along I felt like Dr. Auer recommended tests only where the results would materially change my treatment, and pointed out where my GP might be able to run tests through my insurance plan for less out of pocket expense for me. Supplements can be expensive, but they worked. I consider the cost a successful investment in my current quality of life and in my future health I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Auer's practice. read more

I started seeing Dr. Dan in an emergency situation. I could barely walk, my lower back was so messed up. Having never seen Dr. Dan but having been to 3 other chiropractors for this on going problem I went in with out much hope he could help much. First off he spent an hour with me really getting to know me and then treated me with adjustments and other techniques. I left there feeling amazingly better, better than I thought possible. I came to see Dr Auer for my neck related problem. After the first visit, I came home 70% feeling better and after 2 weeks regularly visits, my nerve tingling running on my left arm disappeared. I am impressed with Dr Auer's treatment. He tested muscles to identify where to treat and realign my spine. One thing I like to suggest is to add some therapy exercises to help patient maintaining and improving during the treatment. I'm giving the Doc and his office 5 BIG STARS!!! Over the last 7 years I've been through about 5 general practitioners (MD's), a dozen dermatologist, and many rounds of prescribed "band aid" solutions with a lot of side effects. I've had biopsies, cultures, injections, antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, blood work, screening tests, etc. with no red flags or permanent fixes. I feel like Dr. A. has helped me address and understand the root causes. No other so-called doctor bothered too much or had the time to do anything beyond throwing pharmaceuticals at me. So ... Dr. Auer is amazing! I found him about 2 months ago and I think he's a miracle worker! His approach to my health was pretty impressive. I was a bit doubtful at first but I kicked my own butt by disobeying the doctor's orders. You're always greeted with a smile and this is one of the few places of business that answer their phone 99.9% of the time. This office has given me very high standards... Which perhaps isn't a great thing because I will have to find a dentist, an eye doctor, and a primary care physician... Oh well. Totally worth it! Oh! One more thing. This review is for Daniel Auer's functional medicine practice only. I had an appointment with him and he recommended I take a stool test. He also diagnosed me with thrush - a yeast infection in my mouth. The test kit was supposed to arrive in a couple of days. I didn't receive it and sent an email asking about it. I was told that the front office person had left and there were issues with the person filling in, but that it would be sent in a couple of days. Then I got a call that they didn't manage to get it in the mail and then D. Auer dropped if off on my doorstep. Not professional. I was told that the front office person was no longer with them and had been replaced. I took the test and sent it in. Then I received another package in the mail. It turned out to be a package for another patient with a form with personal information, a test kits and supplements. This is a serious privacy, not to mention HIPAA violation. I was horrified. I asked Auer for a prepaid mailing label to send it back, but once again, he had to come to my home and pick it up. Seriously? In the meantime, I called the lab that was processing my test to request they send the results directly to me. Nobody ever answers the phone at the lab - Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory. I got a call back was told I had to fill out a form that included personal information, before they would send the results to me. I filled out the form and emailed it back to them. At that time, I noticed on their website that they offer a discount for upfront payment for tests. During my appointment Auer told me that he didn't make any money from lab tests - he just passed that through. However he charged me full list price although I paid upfront. I then contacted him and told him that I would not be back and wanted a credit for the appointment, along with the discount I should have received for the test. I also asked him to destroy all of my medical records. It took 2 weeks, but finally got a check for the appointment plus the $80 I'd been overcharged for the test. Then the test results didn't arrive. I left a message and sent an email to the lab but did not get a return call, email, or the test results. I contacted D. Auer and said that if I thought that the test results would "still be beneficial to my health" that he would forward them. Did he really think that I would not want the results of a $475 test ($395 after the discount)? I then went to a naturopath, which is a certified medical doctor with 4 years of medical school, which covers education on both western and eastern medical approaches. She told me that I did not have thrush (and there was zero yeast in the lab test results), that she had never heard of Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory, (which offers only one test which is odd), and all she knew of D. Auer was his role as a chiropractor. I would strongly encourage anyone looking for a functional medicine practitioner to find a naturopath instead. You want to go to a doctor with real training. I have been going to see Dr. Auer for about 2.5 years and it has been exponentially better than any other functional medicine doctor or alternative practitioner that I have seen before. I appreciate that Dr. Auer utilizes blood work and lab testing to identify health challenges and also uses them to track progression throughout the course of treatment. He is very transparent about what he is doing and why, while also being flexible about your input and desired treatment approach. The initial consultation is very thorough and after some preliminary testing it was clear that the original reason that I had come in for was a symptom of a much larger systemic problem. I am so grateful that Dr. Auer was able to figure out the source of the problem instead of chasing every symptom that was popping up. It has been exciting (and relieving) to see improvements on both subjective (observed mood and symptoms) and objective (lab test results) measures. First off, Daniel Auer is an amazing man through and through. Just as a person I'm lucky to have met him. Second, He is an extremely skilled, knowledgable, professional Chiropractor. I went to this chiro. intially because of all the good reviews. He does know a lot about nutrition and overall health. and was able to guide me in the right direction for better nutrition, but if you have a real need for a good chiro and have reasons other than "nutrition" for back problems then maybe you should think twice. He loads you up with expensive supplements,does some muscle testing..but dont feel like I was adjusted they way I needed, and know I have more serious back problems that are not casued by bad nutrition. He is holistic and good bedside manner, but I need a veteran chiro that can move some bones and make them stay for $80 a visit. read more

I've visited Dr Auer in Aug/2012, could barely walk because of lower back pain and arthritis. In 3 visits I was feeling good again. Dr is not just a Chiropractor, but also a holistic Dr. He looked at my diet and recommended some changes. Those changes helped reduce pain and also helped me lose some pounds. Dr Auer also provides ultra sound and laser heat treatments which provided immediate inflammation reduction. His holistic approach helps achieve results quicker. Dr Auer is an excellent Chiropractor as well. He will look at your alignment, neck, back, legs, etc, test the muscles that are not responding well on back and legs and help align and re-activate your muscles.
