Dr. Connie and Dr. Marcel are knowledgeable, helpful, caring, patient, responsive and listen. Recently, they helped me with breast cancer. Their treatments (supplements and IV) along with conventional treatment (surgery) helped me recover faster, likely combined with a whole food vegan diet (my protocol). They are a great team to have on your side during a cancer journey. Dr. Connie also helped me in 2003 with my severe pollen allergies (I was allergic to all flowers, grasses and trees). In short, after 7 years of allergy shots, daily prescription pill and steroid nasal spray, the manufacturer of the pill discontinued it. Neither mention vitamin C, I-V for the treatment or prevention of cancer. The "doctors" I spoke to who were familiar with vitamin C I-V said they were not aware of any studies that showed vitamin C I-V has any effect on cancer. Last of all Marcel's response to my first post was brilliant. Saying I was angry due to my diagnosis prevented me from defending myself. If I responded I would have sounded angry. Dr. Sage agreed to one thing but delivered something else. My daughter needed a Vitamin C IV drip to fight off a virus in her intestines. We had a protocol that her East coast Naturopath has successfully used on many patients. Dr.Sage spoke with me on the phone and indicated she would administer a non-corn preservative free Vitamin C and that I should come in, therefore making her $125 consult fee worth it to me. The day of our appointment, Dr.Sage took back her original offer and insisted that we include Magnesium Chloride, Calcium Chloride and Potassium Chloride all of which were laced with Alcohol and other preservatives. She insisted that this was necessary otherwise my daughter would have heart problems which is simply not true. But my daughter cannot have alcohol or the additional preservatives because they would feed other health issues and bring her great harm. Dr.Sage would not yield even though she had totally misled me. She did apologize, but still charged us for the $125 consult fee despite getting us there under false pretenses. Not only is Dr.Sage working off of outdated information, it is wrong. First of all, our bodies should never ever have alcohol or other preservatives put into the bloodstream. Secondly, there are many clinics in the bay area that practice straight Vitamin C drips without any other additives because they are aware of the harm. I went in for 3 weekly sessions with Elijah Free to treat my chronic pain condition (akin to fibromyalgia). Unfortunately, I'm $360 poorer and not feeling any different. I was skeptical after seeing little result from the first session, but went two more times because of Elijah's confidence that I would improve soon and because of my own hope that it would make a difference. It's not like massage, where at least the experience itself is relieving; these sessions were emotionally uncomfortable for me, as they required me to undress for bodywork in private areas. There are a couple of practitioners that I've had experience with at Pacific Naturopathic. One is Elijah Free. I can't recommend him more. I've never known anyone like him. I had crippling pain in my wrists that I thought was carpal tunnel. For months I couldn't type or work. In one session, the pain disappeared. I've been completely untouched by it for years since. I type 8 hours a day with not the slightest recurrence of pain. I think he has a rare gift for healing pain, and I've heard similar stories from many other people. 2018 was a particularly stressful and challenging year due to a very difficult and sad loss in January and to a largely self-inflicted fear-based-rumination about the future which totally disrupted my sleep patterns. I was waking up at 3 or 3:30am with a pounding heart and fully wide awake, as though it was time to get up, unable tor return to sleep. This went on for months. Having tried a ridiculous number of sleep supplements to no avail, I came across Elijah Free's Cortisol-Ease and began taking it. However, I was also experiencing intense post-menopausal night sweats which were also keeping me awake as well as numerous hot flashes during the day so I contacted Elijah about taking Cortisol-Ease and Meno-Ease concurrently. I took them both as directed 3 times a day and occasionally some Cortisol-Ease in the middle of the night. That combination in conjunction with some extra magnesium supplementation and cutting out all the other supplements enabled me to return to a reasonable circadian rhythm. I was initially skeptical of seeing a medical professional that used non-western medicine. However, I had seen 4 traditional dermatologists to try to clear a painful case of dishydrotic eczema, to no avail. All they prescribed were intense steroids that made the situation worse. I value Drs. Connie and Marcel Hernandez so highly for their abilities as physicians and healers. After five years of unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant and working with conventional MDs, who told me the very helpful information that I had "sad-looking ovaries," I went to see Dr. Connie as a last-ditch resort before trying assisted fertility methods. She had me get a full blood panel, then sat down with me and analyzed the results one by one across 60+ different indicators. She explained to me that NDs look for an "optimal" range, rather than just a "normal" range because "normal" is 95% of the population. The difference between NDs and MDs, really, is that NDs want you to be in the best health, while MDs just want you not to be sick. It turned out that I was extremely deficient in Vitamin D, and that without that important element, I would be unable to conceive a child, let alone carry a pregnancy to term. What is upsetting about this realization is that no conventional MD had EVER tested me for vitamin D levels. I love this place!! I have had the hardest time with doctors in this area, and a friend of mine suggested I try going to a naturopath. Through a google search, I found this place - thank god!! I saw both Dr. Shanti and Dr. Connie, and for the first time in my life I am able to sleep peacefully, and my malfunctioning thyroid was treated properly. It did take several sessions to get accurately treated, but since then I have felt a million times better. My only complaint is against our crappy insurance system, which won't cover naturopathy, so it can get expensive. But my health is more important. I went to them for help to diagnose and treat what was wrong with me and they spent many months adjusting hormones and never really helped with anything -- nor did they find out what was wrong with me. Dr. Connie Hernandez and Dr. Marcel Hernandez are an amazing husband-and-wife team of Naturopathic Doctors (N.D.s). Together, they provide a comprehensive approach to adjunctive cancer care. I came to them last December after my stage 3 colon cancer had metastasized to the liver, in spite of having completed traditional colectomy surgery and 6 months of chemo. They helped me get started on a routine of supplements and I.V. vitamin C treatments, along with general nutritional and lifestyle advice. I had the new liver tumor surgically removed, and 6 months later there is still no evidence of any new tumor activity according to my oncologist. I am definitely beating the odds! I also feel a lot better than I felt with the traditional "standard of care" with no adjunctive support.
