Both doctor and tech were open about each step without being intimidating. They are genuinely concerned for your comfort and conduct themselves effectively without being heavy handed. Firefly Dentistry has NOT been in practice for "over thirty years". Dr. Barry Baumann, my former…read moredentist, was the owner of the practice before Firefly Dentistry bought the current office. I'm sad to say that Firefly Dentistry is not a worthy successor to Dr. Baumann's legacy. I had initial misgivings when I first visited Dr. Sandberg. However, I thought it might be due to seeing a new dentist after the fact that Dr. Baumann was my dentist for so very many years. Dr. Sandberg did a few fillings, two root canals, three crowns, and routine cleanings. I felt pain in two of the crowns with root canals and kept telling him this. He said that I couldn't feel pain, "those teeth have root canals". But the pain continued. I also began to notice he wasn't as attentive, in my opinion. He seemed disinterested. Just a gut feeling, but I've learned to pay attention to gut feelings. I also wondered at a remark of his, "I really want to get a crown on that one tooth!" Then, at my final visit, I was scheduled to see Dr. Sandberg. The hygienist came in and gave my teeth a very cursory cleaning. All the while, she was talking with a new dentist. Then, to my surprise, the new dentist did my exam. I asked why Dr. Sandberg didn't perform the exam and was told "He's busy." The hygienist and dentist talked all during the exam, speaking of "all the new tricks Dr. Sandberg's bringing in, zoom whitening" and other such things. When the COVID-19 pandemic came, I decided I wasn't going back. After I got vaccinated and the restrictions were loosening a bit, I found a dentist with better recommendations. I came to find out that the crowns with root canals that have been hurting me were infected, with bone loss. I had to have them treated by an endodontist. He doesn't *think* I'll need implants. Needless to say, I'm furious. I DO NOT recommend Firefly Dentistry. Stay away!

The receptionist who answered the phone was not welcoming or pleasant to speak with at all. I proceeded to explain the reason for my call and BEFORE I could finish speaking I was rudely cut off and asked "what insurance do you have...is it through your employer?", as if she heard my voice and ASSumed right away that they don't accept my kind of insurance. Even though i thought this was unprofessional to say the least, I continued on and told her that I have united healthcare through my employer and again, would like to schedule an appt for a cleaning and to have a tooth looked at! She then proceeded to say a bunch of other stuff and asked me what the reason for my call was?Are you serious?!?...If you had been focused on me from the beginning and not my insurance than you would of heard me tell you twice! So I again for the third time calmly tell her "like I said before, I just wanted a cleaning and to have my tooth checked", she then starts to talk to me like I'm the one with the attitude or problem...so by now I'm even more frustrated and say, okay, just let me know what you need from me so that we can get this done? She says, when would you like to come in? I say, tomorrow...she goes, we aren't open on FRIDAY and starts talking sarcastically again, I wait for her to stop talking and say, tomorrow is THURSDAY...she says we aren't open Thursday either...and we're already booked for Saturday...obviously by her short and condescending tone, she had some other issues going on this morning and didn't want to really help me as she should so I hung up and called the Wauwatosa office on Bluemound and had a much more pleasant experience. The receptionist actually waited for me to complete the reasoning for my call, before asking for my name and insurance info and date I wanted to be seen. I don't normally write reviews but an experience like the one I had this morning should be shared. Nobody deserves to feel less than, no matter their insurance...Good customer service is key, especially when there are so many other options available to the consumer.

I had some old issues that I'd neglected to have taken care of and Dr. Allmann did a great job with all of them. Scheduling was super easy and my appointment went very smoothly. Little to no wait time once I got to the office. P.S if you're looking to get a crown done, definitely come here. They do in-house, same day crowns, which I thought was awesome (as opposed to sending out a mold and waiting two weeks for the crown to come back).

I was a patient here for many years, until they stopped accepting my insurance coverage…read more Pros: new offices with all the latest equipment, friendly staff, in-house crown lab (same day crowns - no temporary crowns!). Cons: they don't accept all insurance. And since they have their own lab, they like to wait for little problems to get big enough to justify a crown (rather than manage little problems more conservatively with fillings). They've invested in the lab, so naturally they want to do crowns - sort of a specialty, and the crowns I have gotten from them are very nice - function is great, as well as aesthetics. But my new dentist has pointed out a bunch of little cavities that can be filled right now. This approach should save me money as well as time in the dentist's chair, by postponing (maybe even eliminating) the need for a crown. Bottom line: if they accept your insurance, and you really do need a crown ... go to Tosa Dental; you will be very happy with their work. But if you would rather try to deal with issues earlier when they are smaller, there are other dental practices that do take a more conservative approach.
