In March of this year, I fell backwards from trying to sit down on my computer chair and fell onto my tiled bedroom floor and wall. I broke my fall with my body and so avoided head injury (a stupid move by me trying to sit onto my computer chair). The middle and right areas of my back were aching about two days later but thought it would go away on its own --- even taking Tylenol hardly helped. It didn't leave me so in early May, I decided to look in Yelp for a chiropractor in the Waipahu area and came across Dr. Weisbecker. I looked at my HGEA EUTF for retirees' medical coverage to see whether there was all or some monetary coverage, but it indicated there were NO coverage for retirees! I texted Dr. Weisbecker (after reading his website and also going over previous Yelp reviews) and he texted back. He said initial consultation and treatment was $90 and subsequent sessions (30 minutes) would cost $40 if one pays by *cash*. I was like, what? what a deal if I pay in cash, otherwise it was a higher amount if paying by check, credit/debit card, etc. Upon getting to his office, there was a sign outside of the door entry saying to call him as the door is locked. I knew from reading the Yelp reviews that he was a one person operation... meaning, no receptionist... he does it ALL. Upon getting in, I filled out his general patient information and then went into the treatment room --- saw there were two tables set up that were somewhat separated for some privacy. He started with two separate treatments of some type of electrical massage devices that stimulated my back ... like both of them. Then he does his 'thing' (like what you see on tv/movies) ! I tell him again where the pain was and so with me on my back on the table, he tells me to move my arm into a certain position and then he goes partially on top of me applies pressure once he gets me into the position he wants. Upon doing that, I dunno what to say but squealed (lol) as wow, this is my first time to a chiropractor. He asks me to go into another position and turn slightly and he goes on top of me plants another quick pressure and I squealed again (in delight and the unknown) ! I feel different with noticeably less pain as I am led out from the room back to the reception area to make the payment. At the time, I am just openly stating how exciting and painless it was for the physical chiropractic treatments and how happy I was to find him ! He tells again that likely I will need about 3 more sessions (at 1/2 hour each) and again spoke about the big discount if I paid by cash. I told him I could not set up another appointment at this time due to I having a medical issue different from the back pain, but will call him when it was time. Guess what? like about 3-4 days after that session, my back pain was G-O-N-E ! I am thinking to myself, nah gotta be a fluke, how can it be gone that quickly? Well, it did go away and has not returned! So ... no need to see Dr. Weisbecker for any follow-ups, but I have now found a chiropractor I will use again if and when needed. I have been going to Dr. Dan once a month for general chiropractic maintenance since 2015. I have scoliosis, which doesn't hurt in general, but when I am out of alignment, it does. I am very wimpy when it comes to tolerating discomfort, so I appreciate that my adjustments last all month. And if I do something inadvertently bad (like sit on the floor for 2 hours wrapping Christmas gifts or sleep wrong) he is always able to fit me in asap for an extra appointment. There's always lots of parking because he is located in a building right next to Waipio Foodland. I hate driving with a passion and fortunately I live nearby. Upon arrival you will need to knock because he works alone. He is the receptionist as well. I love the covid-19 precautions that he practices to ensure safety of all patients. I had been to a chiropractor before, but he didn't accept my ChiroPlan insurance and his office staff was very deceptive and didn't just come out and say that they didn't take Chiroplan even though I had asked several times, so I needed to find someone else who wouldn't give me the runaround. Location was also pretty important to me as well, so I wanted to find someone close to home. HC is actually the one who recommended Dr. Dan. I went to see him a few days ago for my first appointment. He's very nice and knowledgeable. During the first few minutes of the appointment, he took photos with his IPad of me standing and showed me how my posture was based on an app he had. He then sent me an email with the images and videos to help me gain better posture. He was also very patient with me as I fumbled around on the "bed" trying to follow directions. He recommended stretches and even bandaged my back up to help relieve the strain. He's easy to find too; located in the Waipio shopping center near Foodland. Lots of parking around the area.
