I don't know comps (comparable) rates by others, but I'd say for a housecall where he has to take time to travel back and forth, plus his professional tools and expertise, it sounded fair enough. Be sure to call Alex. Confirm the details. Provide a photo of the lock itself so he knows what brand or style and can give you the right estimate. If you're in a time crunch or have limitations related to urgency of getting the lock unlocked, be clear and discuss his availability and a realistic arrival time. He has other clients/projects, so there could be miscommunication interpretation delays of where you fall into his schedule that day. I interpreted "in 45 mins" as an ETA (estimated time of arrival) for a job in the South Bay Beach Cities area, but it ended up being closer to 2 hours or so due to his other jobs. So, that was my only minor issue I'd fair warn myself to temper expectations or clarify with him if I ever needed this service. When he arrived, it took him I'd challenge to say less than 3 minutes to pick the lock and unlock the keyed entry without any problems. He does know what he's doing and did it quickly. I noticed this shop took over the old One Hour Photo that had been here for decades, but closed. It's in the CVS shopping center, right next to Noah's Bagels. I took my shoes in, the proprietor and shoe repairman came out from the back. He gave me a quote of $30 to re-glue both heels. I took them in on a Saturday. He asked me if Friday was okay? I said yes and paid in advance. He gave me a copy of my receipt and stapled it to the ticket. Not too talkative, but he's a busy guy. He has quite the workshop back there, behind the counter. From the front, you can see his work bench and machinery. When I came back, there was a line. I also noticed there was a significant volume of shoes that were repaired and ready for pickup. I gave him my ticket, which he used to pull the plastic bin my shoes were in. Yay, new glue. I'm happy. I noticed he repairs purses, so that may be next on my list. He also sells merchandise. For those of you who are from this area, and/or may remember, this business is located in the same location that used to be the one hour photo forever. The one hour photo is long gone, but this business has taken over the space. Once inside, you'll find a whole lot of shoelaces. I find this really helpful, if you really want to get some colorful shoelaces, or a very specific type of shoelace, this business probably has it hanging on the wall. Great stuff! Mainly, most people come in here to get their shoes repaired. FYI, this business also does luggage and purse repair, extra key creation, and a few other things, as well. We went to this business to have a pair of shoes repaired. Basically, the processes is, the owner takes a look at what needs to be done, tells you a price, you pay it upfront, and then you come to pick up your shoes when they are done. For us, it was one week later. This all seems very fair and very reasonable. So, if you need some shoes repaired, or some luggage repaired, or even want a great set of shoelaces, this is your business to go to.

These guys are a vendor for my HOA. Based on my personal experience, I highly caution you to not do…read morebusiness with them in any way. First of all, they are extremely expensive and overpriced. They charge $25 to duplicate a single key and upwards of $100 for key fobs that are $5 on Amazon. They think they can scam HOAs and get away with it. They have ruined the building locks and have taken away key fob locations that were used daily by the residents. Now they want $5000 to reads the location. They have recommended to the HOA to add new doors and locks for "security reasons" because they can't add 1 secure door. Now I have to swipe my key fob through 3 separate doors, plus the elevator to get to my apartment. This is idiotic and sad. They are incompetent to work in the most simplest of locks. I would not have them work on a child's plastic toy lock much less an apartment building. They give kickbacks to the HOA management company to get the business and the HOA management company allows them to steal from the building and its residents. This disappointment of a company must have their license revoked immediately. Pending the revocation of their license, please don't do business with them. Go somewhere else for your own safety, security and peace of mind.
