I'm a lazy reviewer, but Dank Burrito was so good I'm putting in the effort to spread the word. The staff was friendly and upbeat from start to finish. The honey truffle buffalo chicken tacos were out of this world. I can find truffle to be overpowering a lot of the time, but they nailed this recipe and created a symphony of flavor. The tacos also had great texture which is something I greatly appreciate in a good taco or burrito. At $7, my meal was a steal so I added on a PBR tallboy (bonus points to Dank Burrito for having my go to) and two brownies to bring home. If it weren't a 13+ hour drive from home, I'd eat Dank Burrito at least once a week. read more

Dank Burrito? More like Stank Burrito. With a name like "dank" I expected something out of the ordinary and better than average. I ordered a Cajun Mahi burrito and the first bite told me the fish was not fresh. There was nothing special about it or the Carne Asada burrito. Both tasted more like black beans and rice than anything else. I think they forgot the cilantro sour cream. I ordered chips and salsa and the girl behind the counter gave me the smallest to-go cup I've ever seen. It stored enough salsa to top about 5 chips. The chips were seasoned and edible but it was a little too much seasoning and didn't really compliment the sweet salsas. I thought the mango salsa was good but it didn't make up for how pricey this place is, especially when you get one cup per $2 of chips that come in a ziplock bag. The service was terrible. No greeting and felt like I was more of an annoyance than a paying customer. The staff matched the exterior graffiti look - a bunch of punks. read more

I was so jazzed to finally try this place. I was promised a 'flavor bomb' of a burrito, a regular experience.....I was lied to. I ordered the Asian BBQ burrito. it was just plain pork, no asian flavor at all. The 'slaw' was unseasoned raw cabbage, and the rest just average. The salsas which also made promises to me that they were 'unusual' were all just mild sorta sweet salsa. The cucumber was good if very mild. Over all, I was dissapointed. Soooo good! I had the carne asada taco with kimchi and the mahi taco. They were so flavorful and just the right amount of spice. My husband had the Asian pork burrito and it was delicious too, very filling. My 2-year old son had the truffled Gouda mac n' cheese and he gobbled it up. It's a nice take on an old favorite. I ordered Asian BBQ. HORRIBLE kimchi! I lived in Korea (I'm not Korean) and I can make better Kimchi. I was told it was spicy, it was not! It tasted more sweet than spicy! They have gluten free tortilla options (aka corn but not necessarily GMO free, but hey it's better than most places do around here). Yes, it's local and I do want to support local business, but I feel Chipotle in New Bern is a better option to me! My friends and family rave about this place, so I will give it another go, but the portion to price ratio is helping me do it anytime soon! Just finished my second meal at Dank Burrito and we will definitely be back next time we are in town. I liked the pork belly tacos so much the first time I got them that I couldn't resist ordering them this time too. Amazing flavors. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals too. Even more importantly, we really, really appreciated how patient and helpful the staff were as we tried to figure out a safe meal for my child with life threatening food allergies. We ordered a variety of menu items, including mahi tacos, a jerk chicken bowl, pork belly burritos, a teriyaki chicken bowl, and a tree hugger. The food was ready within 15 minutes and it was awesome. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their order and the chips with every entree was a pleasant surprise (loved the salsa bar with to-go containers). By far one of the best burritos I've ever had. We were told by my husband's aunt who lives in the area how good they are and read about it just about everywhere and it appeared to be one of those "must" go-to's while in the area. We stayed in Beaufort and drove to this little fast food burrito bar specifically because of the good comments. I ordered the Carne Asada burrito and husband had the Teriyaki Shrimp burrito. They will make you never want to eat Chipotle again. They should put up more Dank Burritos across the country. The only downside was that they ran out so fast of the salsa at the salsa bar and was barely enough pick de gallo left in the container, and completely ran out of the cucumber jalapeño salsa that I really wanted to try and never filled it up by the time we left. Whenever we visit again I will be going back and trying the mahi burrito and hope they will have all the salsas. Also, the pico wasn't spicy, but the carne asada burrito was perfectly spicy and the chips were delicious. The poster inside right next to the door was hilarious--make sure to read it when you visit. Amazing flavorful food. SO good!! We drive all the way from Emerald Isle to Morehead JUST for these tacos. Plus, we caught the food truck in EI twice this week at the Wine Market/gas station. Soon there will be a Swansboro location too. Definitely THE BEST food truck in the area.
