My previous dentist's office converted into a "cosmetic dentistry" practice which means they jacked up their prices, bought expensive art, painted the walls wicked white, and hired a bunch of people to do his job. Dr. Economides does all of the work himself: cleaning, xrays, and even started filling out my claim form before I told him I'd be happy to do it. He also seemed very knowledgeable and answered my questions honestly. The cleaning was very thorough and totally pain free. He only took 2 xrays - not 8 like my "other" place - which was fine by me, less radiation and less money. ...And he took me exactly on time! When was the last time that happened at a doctor's office? I almost can't wait to go back for my 6-month check-up and cleaning.

I was a bit worried that I would never find a dentist I liked as much as the one I grew up with, but I've definitely found a new regular office. The interior is nothing fancy, just your average docter's office waiting area. As I was filling out my new patient form I kept hearing a little girl giggling in the background as her teeth were being brushed! When she left, she was beaming and looking at the little kid's ring she had been given as a prize. As soon as I was done, Dr. Economides was ready for me and took me back to his office. He was friendly and got right to work.. wait a second, no hygenist? Wow! I've never seen that before! He did the x-rays, cleaning, flossing, you name it, all on his own. He even described what he was doing while he did it! And asked me to let him know if he was being too rough on my gums or teeth. Now I haven't been to that many dentists in my life time but that is good service! I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. I'll be recommending Dr. Economides to all my friends in the area.

He is not only highly skilled but has had advanced training that other dentists have never had. However, I'd already invested beaucoup bucks in my grill so I knew I had to maintain them, like an adult. Enter Arlington Dentistry. It's literally one block from my apartment building in Courthouse so that's a mega plus. The staff is always courteous and professional. They remember me each time--or at least they do a good job of pretending to remember me. I never have to wait in the waiting room for more than 5mins. I don't know how dentists work, but I have one regular woman (Dara) who cleans my teeth and lectures me. She's young and fun, and each visit I keep hoping she'll ask me to be BFFs. But she gets in there and does a thorough job. Then Dr. Joe comes in--I guess he's the head guy. He checks her work and makes sure nothing insane is happening. So if this dentist office were like Grey's Anatomy, Dara would be Meredith Grey, and Dr. Joe would be Baily. I love this practice because everything is no pressure (I have you read some of the reviews for other practices?!?!). I chipped a back tooth awhile ago and on my first visit Dr. Joe told me that I should probably get it filled, but that I could also just be really diligent about flossing and keeping it clean and they would just monitor it (that was 4 visits ago). Also, I've had this wonky whole in my gum since high school and NO dentists has ever even commented on it. Dr. Joe diagnosed the problem, determined it wasn't that big of a deal, but offered a procedure to correct it. Dental insurance is for suckers, so I pay OOP for it all. They're really good about working with me--like they'll give me a dental plan of action and the cost breakdown so I can kind of choose what I can afford in the future and budget for it. Also, they give free goodie bags after each visit (maybe it's built into the price) but it's nice because I haven't had to buy floss or a toothbrush in like, 2 yrs. Finally, this place takes appointments at 7:30am. I don't even have to take time off from work. Luvs it!

So I made an appointment at the little dollhouse in the middle of Clarendon. Merry (like Christmas LL), the office administrator took my initial call and was extremely accommodating to my schedule. Dr. Mooney administered the examination and performed the extractions I ended up needing. Her bedside manner is phenomenal and patience nothing less than virtuous considering the 2 year old I become when in the dentist chair. But I have to say my ABSOLUTE favorite part of the entire experience was meeting Mickey, the dental assistant. She was a joy throughout the entire process. My son went to this dentist on a recommendation from his roommate. He had two appointments two days…read moreapart because of scheduling issues. He had a full set of X-rays, whatever that means, a cleaning and an examination. The total bill was $790.00. Needless to say, I had sticker shock. I called the office and was told that I would have to speak with Stephanie, the office manager. I left my name and number. After ten days, there was no call back so I called again. Within the hour, I had a call back from her. I explained the situation and the sticker shock. I also told her of my displeasure that my son was charged $45.00 for a post cleaning exam when he was charged over $200 for an exam two days prior. I was told this was standard procedure. Stephanie was all business and curt, clearly not that interested in providing friendly customer service. The bottom line? My son will not be returning to this practice.
