I went in really anxious because of past dental trauma and also in pain with an infection, and I was overthinking everything, but they were all super patient with me the whole time. I was a little scared because root canals have such a bad rep, but thankfully I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Gamson. I was seen promptly when I arrived and felt more relaxed in just a few minutes. Dr. Gamson is gifted - finding common interests to distract patients in a charming manner - and at the same time explaining what he is doing and what to expect. Also, it's clear he's a top notch expert when it comes to root canals. I had no pain during the procedure - just a bit of sting with the shots. The root canal immediately addressed the radiating pain. I was so relieved that an experience I expected to be horrible was not - and I enjoyed Dr. Gamson's charming chatter, which distracted me from my fears. The office staff was efficient and helped me understand the insurance coverage situation. Also, the office and treatment rooms have unique art displayed that I enjoyed learning about. Anyway, I'm going back soon as I suspect another tooth needs treatment...it's nice that I know I have no reason to worry.

Dr. Yelamanchi looked at me for 1 min, said "yes, you need a root canal, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do it now so you'll need to schedule another appointment." What a joke. That was the whole point of the appointment - to get the root canal. Does he not realize that patients have jobs and can't just take days off work for no reason? Plus - there wasn't a single patient in the office other than me - probably because of treating patients like this. I'll take by $2000 elsewhere...

Consulting doctor recommended nitrous oxide sedation for my anxiety, which the other doctor then tried to talk me out of as he is inexperienced working with patients under sedation. The office staff did not explain the costs fully and told me that part of the cost of the procedure would be "written off" which was not reflected on my statement and I am waiting to find out if this is true or if I will be billed for this portion. He did an Excellent Job on my tooth and with the whole procedure!!! He's really funny as well as the staff; He's polite and answered my questions and concerns. The atmosphere is really nice too! He also preformed the root canal on that tooth 22 years ago back in 1995 and he did an excellent job then also. If you were told you need an Apical Microsurgery, I need to say the reason why you do not feel the infection in the tooth is because the root is dead which is why you don't feel the pain but if you wait till you do feel pain then it might be to late and you will need a different type of procedure than what I had. So the best advice I can give about the Apical procedure is not to wait till you do feel pain from the infection. I was lucky because mine was detected early because of an x ray.

He would look at his assistant with extreme anger when I had any sort of question about my procedure or expressed my anxieties. I had a crown placed and then a root canal. Every day since 2003 my tooth has throbbed. I had countless periapical x-rays over the years and practitioners informed me nothing was wrong with my tooth. Recently two dentists recommended extraction and implant. Knowing many implants fail, I phoned my friend in Upstate NY who graduated number one from the Univ. of MD Dental School and then received advanced standing to the Univ. of Connecticut Medical School. He is board certified in many specialties. He has a practice with dental procedures and extensive facial reconstruction. His advice: Refrain at this moment on extraction and get in the chair of Keith Progebin, DDS for an exam. Thus, Dr.Progebin recommended Dr. Zia. Thank God. Dr. Zia did a cat scan and showed me things that do not show up on a periapical xray. He re-did my root canal and saved the tooth. More importantly, the pain I have felt every day since July 2003 is GONE. Look no further. And as an added bonus his entire staff is friendly and professional. And why not park at Saks and buy yourself a little treat when you have successful procedures under the tutelage of Dr. Zia. Take a victory lap!
