The food and the value is unbeatable. We were looking for places to eat after shopping in Woodbury outlets and this was not far from it and still open for another hour after outlet closed at 9 Pm. Place is clean. Each table has ketchup, salt, and pepper. Found parking space no problem in the lot. When we went it was a little past 9 pm. No other customers were there when we went. We were starving. Always a fan of simple menus, in this case, just pick the size of plate: small $6, medium $8, large $12. I got the small which looked like a decent portion already, and then got rice, beans (black or brown), and a meat (stewed chicken, stewed beef, shredded pork, or stewed pork). I liked that the lady who helped us, I assume is the daughter, was helpful when I couldn't decide what meat I wanted. On reviews I've heard good things about the shredded pork, she told me that since it's end of the night, it's a little dry. Appreciate the honest girl! Got the chicken stew and was happy with it. The thighs were whole and tasty, not dry at all. I tried husband's beef stew which was also very good, probably liked it better. We were pretty content and full after the small size takeout platter. Don't know what the hype is all about. But anywho this was my experience. First off, the smell in here is amazing. I was excited to try then I saw they have a small selection of hot food to chose from. Didn't feel like ordering something else so I got the yellow rice with pernil. They served more rice than pernil so I got a small order of short ribs. I'm a huge empanada fan and saw three sad looking ones so I got two. I have to say the rice was really good. The flavor was nice. The pernil was okay. Nothing to write home about. Wasn't seasoned enough and not enough to actually get fill on. On to the short ribs. Now, I know this meat can be greasy but the amount of grease on it could start a fire. Zero flavor! I just took a small piece and put it to the side. Finally the beef empanada. I only got food here a total of three times so far because I miss my moms food and they sort of cook like my mom and their Sancocho is life lol. I do recommend this place and I would definitely order from here again for sure, but I'll holding off because the last time I tried to order food, they canceled my order after 20 mins or so (mind you I was starving and craving their food) so I was a bit sad and haven't ordered from here ever since but I would try again soon when I get a craving. Danny's came "highly" recommended but, I think this person didn't have any experience with Spanish food whatsoever. So, when we got there I see that the food is in trays under some lamps. Stewed meat had a thick dry coating over it. Hubby asked what we wanted and I said "nothing. No thanks". Kids said "If moms not ordering neither are we". Hubby got white rice and fried pork chops. The amount of love I have for puerto rican food is insane. I could eat puerto rican food every night if that was the case (actually not every night I need to keep my figure haha). I'm not sure how Danny's pricing is because I don't really get receipts from there. An empanada, soda and dish (choice of rice, choice of beans, and choice of meat is around $15). The portion is huge too! I always get the yellow rice, red beans and beef stew with Pernil (shredded pork) Don't forget the Maduros (sweet plantains). Anyway, the food is amazing. read more

I can't believe I spent less than $20 here on food for both myself and my husband - and it took us two sittings to finish it!! I got shrimp mofongo (which I think is actually the most expensive thing on the menu, if that gives you any idea about their pricing) and he got pulled pork with rice and beans - we barely made a dent in it the first night! My Mofongo had so much sauce on it, and tasted great! However it did not make very good leftovers and was incredibly hard/dense. Filling for sure! Food is delicious 98% of the time, there's been some off days but great for the most part! The price is right and the place is always clean. My only issue are the some of the staff. I've never had a meal here that was disappointing, although I definitely have my favorites! The stewed chicken is delicious and the oxtail is the BEST (although I wish they served it more often.) Everyday they have a different special and I'd definitely advise asking about them. They have legit beverages too, so get a mango or tamarind soda. PS Danny's chicken soup is my cure-all. When I had a terrible cold, the soup healed me. When I was having allergies, the soup healed me. When I was having just a bad day, the soup healed me. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, whenever I'm planning on going out with friends, I'll get a chicken soup to store for the next morning because it's the best hangover cure of ALL TIME. The food here is amazing. Everything I've had here is excellent and the portion sizes are huge for the price. Finishing a small plate solo is a task. Don't expect anything fancy in terms of presentation or service. Order from the counter and grab a seat or carry out. We went to Danny's and ordered some epinadas and beef stew. It tasted okay, albeit a bit dry or cheap-tasting, but we were relatively fine with it -- however, it struck us all with food poisoning. I was the first to feel it the same night, and mine went away briefly (I'm assuming I didn't eat as much). Then another person in it got it, then another -- and then all of us had somehow gotten affected by the food. Not only am I now realizing that eating the food which did not taste 'particularly' amazing was not worth the struggle at all, but it also was by far too expensive. Delicious meal. Nothing fancy, simple, clean & inviting. I had vegetables (1st time for me having boiled green bananas) pork & a piece of chicken, all yummy. I could easily over eat at this place I requested less than the young man was going to put in the dish. Caution, I asked for one tostone and much to my surprise I was given a whole order.
