Danny's used to be a family favorite. The last time I was there was the fall. Their soup and salad bar was always the big draw. I would order the clam strips and it came with a potato and the soup and salad bar. My mom and I went there last night. We sat down, ordered drinks, browsed the menu. I noticed the increased prices and then noticed that none of the entrees, that once included the soup and salad bar, included the soup and salad bar. The soup and salad bar was $2 extra. We kindly asked the waiter to cancel our order and moved on. $2 might not seem like a significant increase, but it is when the prices have also gone up and what you are getting has gone down. We left in protest. Very disappointed. I left a review on their Facebook page and received this from a Mark Eberling: "Niki unfortunately prices go up the waitress received a 2.hr more as of January 1st 2016 payroll insurance tax etc etc .... Dannys is still way below everyone else grocery have gone up we do and still try to keep are prices down..... anywhere else your soup is added and your salad is extra.... You still get a nice fresh salad bar .. And a pick from four soups not one and all you can EAT.... Let me start by saying that everyone working here the day I came in was extremely pleasant. Even those not directly taking care of us greeted us, and said goodbye on our way out. That's always a super nice thing when you're out to eat! 1. Waitress was kind, read us specials when requested, was quick with drinks, and super accommodating at all times 2. I got the Chicken Caesar wrap - chicken was good and fresh, but the whole wheat wrap and Caesar dressing were nothing special. I definitely could have made the same thing for myself at home after a stop at the local grocery store. Don't expect fancy dressings or dishes - most everything on the menu is very basic, but well done even so. Fries that accompanied it were great!! 3. Someone I was with got the unlimited salad bar with their meal - I wish I would've done that! Tried their chicken wing soup and oh my goodness :) that's worth going to Danny's alone. Lots of choices up there besides salad and soup - bread, pasta salads, cheese, etc. seems like the best deal for your money. Nothing else really to say I suppose - they have cheap prices, a typical diner menu, and there was very good service while I was there! Mediocre food and very dated, atmosphere in my opinion, carpet should have been changed years ago..the booths too. Friend raved about Soup and Salad Bar. To me three bean salad, soggy coleslaw, garbanzo beans, low end shredded cheddar and croutons and a few bits of this and that are 1950's, you couldn't pay me to eat that canned stuff. Perhaps this is not fair, but to me a salad bar is supposed to be FRESH, innovative, full of things like artichoke hearts, fresh cheeses and healthy, which this is not. Admittedly, I have seen similar salad bars around town and apparently I am in the minority I ordered the fish special, which was baked cod in hollandaise (brown heavy very bland sauce ) which was blah, over cooked, on small bed of dried out spinach. Salad/Soup bar was included, so I decided to try two of the four (allegedly fabulous) soups. I chose Manhattan clamless chowder, much like Campbells of my youth with a bit of clam flavor. I dug deep in the pot for a few clams, that just were not in there. Perhaps the other diners beat me to them, The World Famous Buffalo Wing Soup was greasy to my taste, and also very few bits of chicken to be found, mostly potato If you like Buffalo Wing sauce,this is for you. Not too spicy. Repeat Prize winner? I am glad I did not try the losers soups. The portions are generous, but for me the meal was a total waste of calories and time. I have eaten at Danny's previously and was never impressed, but just had the WORST meal/experience there today! Ordered a Greek wrap with a side of fruit and both were mushy and watery! The lettuce on the wrap was wilted and gross and the whole thing was flavorless and dripping!!!...After two bites of the wrap I called the very young/inexperienced waitress over to tell her I could not eat it. She told me, (after picking up my sandwich with her bare hands!!!) that it was just the water from the fruit and it was fine. LOL. I told her it was inedible. She offered another. Having lost my appetite for that menu item told her no thank you. She said "well since you already ate half of it I cant take it off the bill"!!! Again, only two bites taken. Sigh. She brought me another horrid wrap to take home. I left it there. The salad bar was sad looking and very limited in selection. The Buffalo Wing soup was not bad, but certainly not worth going back there for! Never again. There are too many great restaurants in town to waste your time and money on that place. I can not go back to Buffalo to visit without making a stop at Danny's at some point. It is conveniently located near the airport so I usually go with whoever happens to pick me up. The atmosphere of this place is chill, the lights are always turned down low and there is soft music playing in the background. There is a large parking lot and plenty of seating, I have never been there when it's too crowded so I get seated immediately. I'll be honest, this restaurant is actually pretty terrible. The service is awful, I have never waited less than ten minutes to get a drink after putting in an order, no matter how dead it is, and the waitresses all seem rude, uninterested or confused. I think they could take the time to put a little more effort into training their employees. The ONLY reason I come to Danny's, and the reason they get 3 starts instead of 1 is the Buffalo Chicken Wing Soup. I don't know what addictive drug they put into it, but I literally cannot come to Buffalo without getting some of that soup. It is creamy, spicy and so delicious. I always get the $7.99 all you can eat soup and salad, and usually just fill up on bowls of soup and garlic breadsticks, which are perfect for dipping into the soup. I have never tried any of the other soups, but I have tried a meal once and it was terrible. The food is processed and overpriced for the quality you get. However I know the next time I am in town, I will be back. If they ever get rid of that soup they will be losing a very reliable customer. If you do not like soup or don't like it too spicy, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. But if you want to try the best Chicken Wing soup in Buffalo, head to Danny's! read more

My husband bring me to this place on Mother's Day and I must say I was pleased and pleasantly surprised the food,price and service was awesome if I would have known we would have came here a long time ago we had ; prime rib entrees that included soup and salad bar with hit garlic sticks, plus 2 sides we add lobster tails and both had drinks all of this and it was Massive under $90.00 our waiter was friendly,knowledgeable,witty and cute Justin was his name great guy. The Spicy Buffalo Wing Soup is worth stopping every time. Being close to the airport it is an easy place to feed someone who just got off the plane and is starving and does not want anymore peanuts or blue tortilla chips. Good for families,, good for meeting up with friends. It gets hopping on the evenings and nites so plan some time to sit at the bar for about 20 min (not terribly long but waiting makes some people cranky).. otherwise TASTY food get the soup read more

Danny's on an early Friday night during Lent was a big mistake.The grumpy gentleman taking names by the door could not put my name on the list until my husband (who was parking the car) came through the door and was standing in front of him (really!) The set up as you walk through the door is ridiculous to say the least. People are standing waiting for their name to be called actually blocking the door AND the waitresses from passing by with hot dishes of food. If you want to freeze out by the door there is a large enclosed room but I can see why no one wanted to sit out there. Once seated we both ordered a Haddock fish fry which NOW ONLY includes fish and fries, nothing else, NOT even a dinner roll! We had been there last year sometime and the soup and salad bar was included NOT any longer - when the waitress said that I though she was joking. NO joke! . Now it is an extra $2.00 per person on top of the ADDITIONAL extra $1.00 each to get Haddock instead of Cod making this fish fry with salad a total of $ 15.00 each person, and that does not include a drink All said and done the total bill for 2 fish fries with a drink and salad bar came to almost $40.00 !!!! The service was fast, but it took a long time to actually get our food. When it came out the portion size was very large BUT it was SO SO SO greasy I had to scrape all the batter off. If you lightly touched it with your finger, your finger was coated in grease. Sorry, but this gets a C- AND the few fries on the plate were cold. Honestly quite nasty. The décor appears old, drab, dark and worn out. Both the menu's, salt and pepper shakers and the vinyl tablecloths were actually sticky (can't even imagine the germs) and it obviously has not been re-decorated in a long, long, LONG time. Even just a professional cleaning crew to clean everything from floor to ceiling including the window treatments, carpets, and walls which next to me was splattered with some kind of liquid would be a huge improvement. They only had one person working the bar when it was very busy and she was very annoying singing songs to herself like a mental patient. She didn't write anything down and forgot simple tasks. Fantastic salad bar (there is about 20 feet of salad magic you can create) and tried 3 of their soups with unlimited garlic breadsticks, and also ordered a small roast beef sandwich on 'weck roll. It wasn't dry but rather chewy, caraway-seeded, and similar in size to pretzel rolls, and the place has a supper club atmosphere. Pretty lowkey after 2 pm. A major disappointment! Everyone raves about their soup and salad bar but at both locations I was not impressed. The menu is huge but if your a vegetarian you will not find one item on it to eat. The tuna melt that was served was extremely mayonaisy and the bread so greasy it was inedible. The chicken finger salad was iceberg lettuce with a few grape tomatoes and only 1 finger cut into tiny strips not worth the $10 price tag. We will not be returning to either location. read more

Maybe even 1 star worthy. We've been dining here since the 90's. It was a great place in its heyday. Great soups, salad bar. But those days are long gone. The soups are rarely good. And the soup selections are often odd flavors. Many soups are loaded with giant carrots. It's like the carrots and sweetness therefrom are the base to many of the soups. The salad bar items are not always the freshest. The grape tomatoes are usually soft and wrinkly. The main courses are usually ok. If there is a thing that makes the restaurant unique -the soup and salad bar- they should be fantastic. Sadly, they are no longer the quality of the past. First night in Buffalo. This place came highly recommended by the staff of the Comfort Suites where we're staying at. I must admit, I've never tried a spicy buffalo wing soup. It was pretty darn good, especially for those who love spicy food..... go figure, we're in buffalo, duh? The wings were alright, and I can proudly say that Hooters back home is much better in comparison. Overall, the food there was okay. There were 12 of us and no one really said anything good about their food so I suppose it's just mediocre. I had a glass of Sangria and was really disappointed. Had dinner there tonight and have noticed a few things they've changed to up their game. It's not just a plain white plate with lots of space between you protein, starch and veg. They added cool colorful plates, the fries are in a cute metal basket and the veg in their own dish but all fill up the plate nicely. I had the jerk steak special which included the soup and salad bar. I've always found the soup delicious and I can't get enough of the homemade croutons. Warm garlic bread sticks and rye bread are also a nice option and always super tasty. Keep up the great work Danny's. I do have one tiny suggestion......never seat anyone at the mini booth you have in the back by the Marilyn Monroe picture. It's not big enough for even a child to sit back there. read more

First time at Danny's by the airport.They were very busy but we were seated right away a table. The tables seemed crammed together in the back room that we sat in. I was seated in the main aisle where people and waitresses kept walking by ,very narrow aisle, I had to keep pushing my chair in,it was bothersome . I ordered the clam strips and baked potato, it was very good. The service was okay ,the waitress never asked how everything was. And we had to ask for a box for left over. Had a great couple of meals here. Enjoyed the beer-battered Cod fish fry for my last Lenten fish fry dinner. Guest had the normal breaded which also looked crispy and great. They have their own salad bar which is really nice, if you come here just get it because there's always a few things to enjoy such as fresh bread or garlic breadsticks in addition to the salad fixings. They also have a variety of soups although I have never had one. They are very fast to serve you here so you will barely have time to eat a salad before your main course is complete. read more

Needed a quick bite to eat after coming in to BUF on a late flight. It was the only non-fast food choice in vicinity of my hotel, so here I went. The food was ok. They call it "Buffalo cuisine", but it's just standard American comfort food. The salad bar was pretty dismal - iceberg lettuce mix and a variety of veggies that didn't look very attractive. The soups were good - they had four from which to choose, and I tried the chicken wing and spicy sausage, and enjoyed them both. Because I wanted something healthy-ish for my main, I went with the 6 oz filet. It was cooked well, and pretty tasty, but nothing special. The service was really friendly, and this is definitely a neighborhood haunt. It's decorated like it's trapped in the 70s, so don't expect a lot of ambiance. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if you're staying in a nearby hotel, it's better than fast food! read more

I can't complain about this place. My sister suggested that we eat here the night before we had to get up early to get to the airport. We wanted something simple. This fit the bill. we had the salad bar (which I think is a tad overpriced at 10.99). The best thing on the bar is the chicken wing soup. It is truly good. I also liked the salad bar for the most part--although it's just iceberg lettuce and basic toppings nothing fancy. I also felt the breadsticks were just okay. They had a bit of a frozen taste to them, but other than that totally edible and prime for dipping into the chicken wing soup. I would come here again for the salad bar if I was in the neighborhood and needed a quick meal, but there really are better options. I didn't think the place was dirty and I have HIGH standards when it comes to salad bar cleanliness and overall restaurant hygiene. read more

This Night was our 2nd Anniversary, nothing over the top special, but the wife wanted steak and pasta (and the soup / salad bar... Works for a pregnant lady!) I got the special Pizza Mac And Cheese, wow what a dish!!! Pizza sauce and pepperoni with the pasta, not a bad idea, might have to switch at home. Also great Buffalo Wing Soup as always.
