We drop in to check it out every time we're in town and always find something we want or need. They've got regular hardware items, plus all kinds of nuts, bolts, tools, and more. They also have a great selection of nice homewares and cookware, English tea pots, high quality Le Creuset cooking pots, skillets, etc., and small items like mini spatulas. They have a lot more stuff as well. It's nice to see an old, traditional hardware store like this hanging on in a downtown. They have good prices, giving a good value on things we've bought, and service is friendly.

I had worked in this building during my college years when it was occupied by a different hardware store. From then to now, I am surprised over how similarly laid out the aisles are. I suppose not messing with a good thing is the way to go. This Ace is the only full hardware store in north Chico. It is close to the 99 freeway and is in a shopping center adjacent to two main roads. There is always a ton of parking and I can usually find a spot right at the front. As I'd mentioned earlier, the interior is laid out well. It's bright and airy with wide, well-stocked aisles. The occasional clearance finds in the front are a nice touch, and I love their barbecue items display. Came in here the other day looking for a particular item that their online app had advertised. The three associates whom had helped me were all very friendly and worked well together. Not only that, but the item was a part of the "red tag" sales agent they were holding, so I was able to purchase it at a discount of over 50%. What a nice surprise that was. I live in south Chico but prioritize this location as my hardware store because of the great service and selection. I will be back.

This mpast week I was in there 5 times. At the self checkout the guy with the long black hair, stops me as I am exiting, to tell me, that I need to pay for the board in my cart. Being that it was not a full piece of laminate, one would think that it was obvious that the board was not new, nor do they sell single pieces of halved laminate. Two days later in Garden, I purchased a plant on a trellis for 69.95. He asked me if the trellis was included in the price, I told him it was.Because the fact that the plant was wired to the trellis in the pot. I paid for my purchase. As I was leaving, he stops me by the door, to scan a different label on the trellis to double check with the scanner. I was in retail back in the day, and when you started a job back then, they hgave you some idea of the products that were sold. Since they obviously are not giving IQ tests, maybe they should at lest cover the basics
