Their breakfast tacos are cheap and great with extra salsa. They don't skimp you on the burgers. You get a massive burger unlike FIVE GUYS where you get a tiny wimpy burger. HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. read more

I've been to the one in South Austin several times in the least few years, and it is consistently good for what it is. There's always an issue trying to get into or out of the parking lot, so I think the comment I read about the Buda location's parking is ridiculous. It is certainly big enough. The problem I had was that when I went there about 3pm on a weekday the bun was stale, the hamburger was below par, and the onion rings weren't done. I'm glad I didn't drive all the way to Austin for that meal. read more

I have never been to a Dan's that I dont like. It is indeed a family favorite. Everything is fresh. Places is clean, drinks, shakes, fries, onion rings, everything is good. I am never disappointed. Keep up the great work. read more

My favorite burger place EXCEPT for last night. Phoned in my order. It was under the heat lamp when I arrived. I went to the open register and said I was picking up a phone order. The manager told me I had to get in line. There were 11 people ahead of me. When I finally reached the second to be served the manager stepped to the open register and checked me out. I'm not sure why he could not have done that in the beginning. Needless to say my burger was not so good having been prepared 30 minutes earlier. read more

Let me start by saying that I'm in the food industry. I've always liked Dan's, it's my only place to eat when I want a good burger. I also often drink their sweet tea, because it's always really good. Today though their tea tastes rancid, so I know that they haven't washed out their spigots in the tea urn. Tried Dan's while I was in town for buisness. Ordered the double cheese burger and onion rings. The onion rings were very good, but the burger was disappointing. The presentation itself was poor as it was falling all over the tray, but even worse it had no taste. I have been a customer of Dan's since the 70's. I must say that this is the very best burger one can buy. I have also had their breakfast, also top notch. I have also noticed, especially for the breakfast, that they seem to keep the same staff for much longer that do other restaurants. This speaks well for the way they treat their staff. read more

Used to visit Dan's on Lamar Blvd regularly in the early 1980's. Likewise, I would visit Fran's on Burnet Rd on occasion too though her take on the burger and fries with shake wasn't quite as developed as her former husband's. So years ago their daughter inherited Dan's Hamburgers and it just seems as though she hasn't been able to keep the consistent quality up to the same standard. Specifically, consistent taste. It's got to be a huge challenge for any business owner to somehow manage to get employees to rise to the occasion but manage she must for success or not and bland Luke warm floppy fries isn't cutting the mustard. The burgers at this Buda location are fine really just nothing special and are on par with the Whataburger next door. Dans is, by far, my family's favorite burger joint in Buda. The setting is reminiscent of a diner from the 50's. The staff is always friendly, the service fast but not too fast, and the prices are very reasonable. They have great burgers, curly fries and onion rings as well as chicken fried steaks. They also serve up great breakfast items such as HUGE breakfast tacos, biscuits & gravy, omelets, pancakes, migas and huevos rancheros. I also have to mention their BLT sandwich which is stacked with perfectly cooked bacon and their chocolate malts which are awesomely good. You aren't going to find fine dining frills at Dans, just seriously good, down home style comfort food. read more

By far some of the best burgers around Buda/Kyle area. The curly fries are really good as well. Great selection of breakfast items As long as you get there early enough to try breakfast. The retro diner look is great and the service is always on point. The only bad thing is the parking lot is usually full so you might have to walk a little. I have called in orders several time and picked them up through the drive and have never been missing any items. The staff here seems to really care about customer satisfaction and that in itself is rare to see. Definitely a life long customer. read more

One of my favorite places in Buda to sit down and have a great burger. Great customer service. Small issue that could be fixed are the drive-thru times, especially in the evenings. This location has the hardest f@#$ing time getting your order correct and today was no different, even after repeating my order four times. All i ordered was a small double meat HAMBURGER, add bacon, no onions, no mustard, small fry and large root beer. I am so tired of this location, fifty percent of the time the order is incorrect, either has cheese when i ordered a hamburger( their most common screw up), there is no double meat, they forgot the bacon, or it has mustard or onions. read more

We used to love Dan's and went there frequently. Since they removed the large burgers, chicken fried steak sandwich, and chicken fried steak meal (our favorites) from the menu, we haven't been back. When I asked them why they removed those items, they told me they took too long to cook. Maybe I'll be back for breakfast some day. read more

My husband & I drove to the only packed parking lot in the area one morning & joined what seemed to be all of Buda at Dan's for breakfast. It was wonderful! The breakfast was so reasonably priced, and the ingredients seemed fresh. The biscuits and gravy could have definitely had a lot more flavor, but all in all, a great breakfast! read more

Apparently ordering breakfast tacos for a family of 6 is too much for the drive thru to handle. The manager demanded that we call ahead because they cannot handle and basically made us feel like we were not welcome at this restaurant. He could have dealt with us simply by parking us while our food cooked if we were backing his drive thru line up and we would have gladly waited. Now onto the tacos, the manager was correct in that the ingredients were freshly made but sadly the tortillas are store bought and undercooked so you get that awesome waxy taste after each and every bite. If I wanted to call ahead for breakfast tacos, we would have frequented one of the many Tex-Mex restaurants that serve fresh homemade tortillas along with the ingredients that my family wanted. My family was wholly underwhelmed by Dans breakfast which is extremely disappointing because their burgers are outstanding. Unfortunately, we will not be giving this establishment our money any longer because the combination of a poor attitude from a manager and store bought tortillas is too much to overcome. read more
