What we got: BBQ burgers with onion rings and curly fries. The burgers and curly fries were really fantastic. This is more your "basic" diner burger, but that's my favorite kind. I did not like the onion rings. That's honestly the only reason it isn't 5 stars because I didn't even eat them all. And I really like onion rings! The service was great. There was some mix up between me and the very-new guy at the counter and the manager came out to make sure he had it right. Thanks man. I love Dan's - way better than any typical fast food burger. I do think it's a bit odd that I always have to repeat my order 3-5 times before they understand it. And I just get a cheeseburger with no pickles or mustard, add mayo. That being said, the curly fries are AMAZING. A lot of old people go to Dan's and I am a huge fan of old people! And seriously,? You're going to give Dan one star because they don't have a baby changing station? Not my favorite I must say. The BLT was rockin-awesome! BUT my onion rings had so much grease I couldn't finish them. Seriously, I love love love onion rings. But the grease shouldn't pool on the rings and cause the breading to fall off. And my kids cheeseburger was so greasy it soaked the bun. The curly fries were a hit. All in all, it was okay. I'm surprised by all the lackluster reviews. Dan's is a burger joint with great burgers...are they going to blow your mind? No, but they are damn good, straight-forward, beefy burgers. But what I cam to Yelp to write about is the unsung hero of Dan's - their breakfast tacos. Dan's jam packs every available inch of a tortilla with as much egg, sausage, bacon, beans, onion...whatever you want...and they are very good. This is one of my favorite weekend breakfast treats! Given the choice, I always choose Dan's over their competitors because they're just that good and always have been. I've grown up in the Austin area and I don't remember a time when Dan's was not around serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner! Their burgers and tacos are fantastic! But they have other goodies as well. My wife's regular "go-to" is their chicken fried steak dinner. Last night we went with chicken baskets and chicken fried steak dinner. One of my daughters loves their burgers and my son loves their chicken baskets. My youngest daughter loves their fries and rolls in particular. She hasn't graduated to burgers just yet but I think that is soon and just around the corner. This location is right in the middle of SEVERAL other fast food places and when Dan's is not nearby one of them might do but since Dan's is right here we go here 90% or more of the time. They're just that good! And they make more than breakfast tacos for breakfast too. You can get anything from a traditional breakfast list there. The food at Dan's is great, one of the best burgers I've had and cheap to boot. Just a word of warning - NEVER USE THE DRIVE-THRU. I've done so 3 times in the last 6 months, and every time it seems to take them 5-10 minutes for each car. This morning I was fourth in line, and it was 23 minutes before I had my burger. Had to wait at the window for 8 minutes, when my order should have already been bagged and ready after that long of a wait. Several people behind me drove off after giving their order and then waiting, and I really should have done the same. When you go in, orders are ready promptly, usually within a few minutes. Five if they're really busy. I have no clue why they can't get a drive-thru that works with any efficiency. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch we ordered the chicken basket and upgraded to curly fries. The food was really good. Chicken strips were big, gravy was hot, rolls were fresh and curly fries were worth the extra charge. Employees were super friendly and helpful. It was really clean inside and out. I didn't use the restrooms so not sure what those were like and my toddler attacked the food before I could get a pic overall it was a great experience! read more

So I was at Cabela's with a buddy and was hungry. What should I eat? He raves about Dan's Hamburgers. Alright, bureger sounds great. I had a medium cheeseburger with curly fries and tried some onion rings. Onion rings were 3.5/5, curly fries 3.5/5 and burger 3/5. Good especially when I was hungry, but nothing spectacular. I've heard the milkshakes are great, but being lactose intolerant in someone else's car, I was not gonna try them out. Stopped by Dan's today. Always seems busy at this location but I went in around 1:30PM today, so it was after the lunch crowd rush. When I got our self-serve drink order, I was immediately stopped by a sweet taste in my UNSWEETEN tea. It was not over-whelming, mind you, like real sweet tea but enough of a sweet tang to NOT qualify it as unsweetened. I went to the counter and told the manager who was standing there that the unsweetened tea had a slight sweet taste to it. (Somehow it became contaminated with sweetener...) He ask a cooking crew worker behind him about getting the wrong fill on the un-sweet tea dispenser... who denied doing it. He then ask, a 15 or 16 year crew worker to taste it, who told him that it was fine. (Really, they are expert that young?) Good managers are hard to find for many restaurants and this incident speaks to this manager responsibilities, who should have checked the tea for himself. As for me, there was no unsweetened tea with my meal that day. (It might as well been empty... as I have seen it once before at this same location.) read more

The entire family loves it when I say I'm getting burgers because they know I'm going to Dan's Love the options for the burgers, we always get the size just right for our appetite. Made to order, fresh ingredients, not too much bread (many other Austin restaurants use big bread to fill you up but not Dan's!), the price is perfect and can't beat that they are Austin locals. My only "beef" is that the condiments contain high fructose corn syrup but we just don't use them. And their breakfast tacos are the best in Austin! It's one of my guilty pleasures read more

We then drove all the way back to get the order corrected. After getting back home we did have 2 bacon and egg however, the potato egg and cheese tacos again, had bacon. Didn't want to go back again. My family's favorite hamburger place in town for many years . Just recently like this year we started going there (in Buda) for breakfast. Seems like most times they are super busy. Today we walked in and we're greeted by Nelly and also served by Nelly. From the minute we walk in the door her friendly smile was so Inviting. As we continued with our breakfast, we noticed her smiling even while sitting people serving tables and all with a great attitude. She is truly a valuable person to Dan's . Quick review. I had a jalapeño cheese burger and my son had a plain small cheeseburger. The medium is a decent size burger. The fries are like Wendy's. As far as taste - it's decent. I'm sitting here staring at the Sonic with Whataburger nearby. I'd say this burger is right in the middle of the two but maybe moreso on Whataburger's side. It's a slightly sloppy burger which I don't mind when it has cheese as long as it's not all watery, making the bun gross. The bun didn't get sloppy, just gooey from cheese which I love. The jalapeños added a nice spice. Not too hot and just enough flavor. Also, I ordered a milk shake. It tastes like Whataburger as well. I feel as though Whataburger adds a toasted bun which is enjoyable. If Dan's does that, I couldn't tell. Will I be back to try it again? Yes. I didn't know what to expect of the place but I love a 50s theme and it's nice to sit outside too. Might need to come back and try breakfast. read more

Dan's is always good. Especially their breakfast! Love the burgers, too. I just wish they'd extend their breakfast serving hours on the weekends. There is usually a good amount of people still coming in for breakfast and they cut it off and serve burgers even though the breakfast demand is still present. Seems silly to turn away business. Great hamburgers. I think their buns are a little sweet which gives a nice flavor. I like their onion rings but my husband, an onion ring connoisseur, isn't as impressed with their rings as he is their burgers. I also like tea and their tea is great. My wife and I ordered two meals. She got the small cheeseburger with mayo. I ordered the chicken fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and fries to share. My wife had no complains about her burger/fries. I in the other hand was complaining while I chewed through the microwaved gummy steak I was trying to enjoy. The batter on the chicken fried steak was soft and not crispy. The mashed potatoes were alright and I didn't get any rolls with my meal. I think next time I'll just stick with what Dan's is know for, and just settle for a burger. read more

IMHO Dan's has the best burgers in Buda. Their breakfast is pretty good too. They aren't extremely cheap and you may have to wait 5-10 min for your order, but you definitely get what you pay for. It's not fast food, it's good food fast. Every time I've been in, my order is made when I order it, NOT something that's been sitting under a heat lamp all day. The fries are the bestest! It's more like 3.5 stars. There menu inside is so much better than the drive they menu. It's different and back home all the restaurants like this that everyone LOVE and swarm to (waits are sometimes 1.5hrs) all offer the whole menu for drive they as well. We drove up thinking we could order toast and eggs and bacon, nope we couldn't. But we could get a bacon and egg sandwich??? Same thing just take it apart?? It's ridiculously dumb. The sandwich was good though. Kids wanted pancakes and couldn't get those either! So we went to McDonald's to get them their food. read more
