Amazing Chocolate!! Ambiance is nothing to look at. The awnings need to be updated. But the quality of the chocolate makes up for it.

Simply put: a gem of a place for your surgery treats. Opening around 1920....they continue to stay open because they serve excellent candies. I'll challenge you to find a better Carmel candy than Dan's. Personally, I say "not possible". The Carmel apples when in season.....that's right....are fantastic. Sea Salts: I had a lady tell me how wonderful these were. She was so passionate, I had to have some boxed up. She was certainly wise....as the trio of Carmel, chocolate and a touch of salt on top....quite the combination. Cheese or Carmel corn popcorn: Everyone knows Garret's in Chicago, right? Great friendly staff. Always have wonderful suggestions but you can pick your own combinations of candy for your box too. They always have some discounted candy, chocolate or caramel. I may be a little biased because my Aunt and Uncle own the place, but seriously trust all yelpers when it comes to the quality and yumminess of this place. We always frequented the shops when I was younger and even got to watch Aunt Carol in the back making the chocolates! They were ever so gracious to provide with chocolates for not only my bridal shower but my baby shower as well. You better believe I had a few brother in laws that were trying to get their wives to snatch chocolates for them as well! I have bought candy from them most of my life, it has changed hands but still the same candy, Forrest Gump could not find a better box of chocolates if he tried, a tad pricey but the quality is worth it. the people who run it are nice and have no problems making a hand picked assortment that you want. read more

I feel safe in saying if you have never had a Dan's caramel apple, you've never had a caramel apple, period. They have them for a limited time in the fall and once they're done, they're done for the year. Highly anticipated in Joliet. Went by due to curiosity. Was super excited to see their variety of candies and they also have sugar free candy which was very good. The two women who helped us were very helpful and recommended some delicious treats. Definitely will come by again read more
