This was my first time coming to Orland Park Bakery, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The place was packed when I walked in. There was a lot of energy in the room. People chatting, families picking out pastries, employees moving quickly behind the counter, and the smell of fresh baked goods filling the entire bakery. The staff were super nice and they gave me some good recommendations. Everything looked delicious. But there was one pastry that caught my attention the second I saw it: the Maple Bacon Doughnut. Sitting there with that thick maple glaze dripping over the edges and covered with crispy bacon pieces, it looked almost too good to pass up. The first bite completely lived up to the hype. The doughnut itself was soft and pillowy, while the maple glaze was rich, buttery, and packed with that warm cinnamon-maple flavor. Then the bacon kicked in. Crispy, smoky, salty, and just enough crunch to contrast the softness of the doughnut. The combination was ridiculous. I have been a customer for over 20 years. I have to say I understand that prices go up and items become smaller, such as the sweet roll and packzis, but when the quality is no longer there, I need to say something. I had a fairly large order for Easter. Hot cross buns, sweet rolls and packzi s. The hot cross buns were stale and the strawberry/cheese paczki had a smear of the strawberry sauce and a quarter of one strawberry. I used to like packzi season but your packzis are not as good as they once were and ordering during Easter or Christmas is a mistake. Production is poor. I quit ordering pies at Christmas when in 2024 the blueberry pie contained only sauce and no blueberries. When the pie was cut, it literally collapsed from no blueberries to hold it up. Maybe someone should do quality control. read more

I have been patronizing Orland Park Bakery since they were on 143rd. I am a creature of habit as their cheese coffee cake was always great. But over the last few months it has gone downhill. Some days it has icing some days hardly any. Now you are lucky to get any cheese inside as it has just a sliver of cheese inside. I couldn't believe that they charge over $300 for a half sheet yellow cake with strawberry filling and a mermaid decoration and 24 frosted cupcakes . I asked for whipped cream frosting and was told they could not do that , that it had to be buttercream . I also asked for pastel colors . I did not get pastel colors . The mermaid decoration was the sorriest one I have ever seen . I wanted to support a local business instead of a chain . You should not trust them with your order for any special occasion. They simply do not care about customers' special occasions. They used to, but those days are over. Full sheet cake ordered, upon pick up I'm shown a cake with the same repeated errors: Misspelled name, wrong colors, this time it included a totally wrong filling (a special surprise at the time of serving!!). The splotchy icing job? They told me it was my fault because I did not request or pay for "clean icing" -- no joke. Been a customer for 30 years, and have never once been asked if I wanted "clean icing." The local school color I ordered (kelly green), well, they told me at pick-up it was not a color they carry, so they made it lime green--no call, no care (and not true, btw). And of course they had processed full payment a week earlier! Because of the errors, they next took me to task on when I needed the cake so they could fix it. It was eye rolls galore when I said i needed the cake for the actual date and time I ordered it, that day! The errors have happened enough that I guess I probably should have factored in a day for error correction! Two customers stopped me to say they observed the whole interaction and could not believe how rudely they were speaking. Spare yourself the babble and nonsense. For a dilapidated $300 cake, they offered a $25 gift card. I wasn't ever going back, but when I went to donate the card, I noticed the gift card they gave me showed a balance of zero dollars! Totally fits with their unfair practices. Truly obnoxious "customer service." The manager who (mis)handled the failed transaction then said she wasn't responsible for baking errors and could not address the concerns. Odd little place. They're a bakery and this is cake--why is it so hard?? Dunno, but it is hard for them. Others who saw the cake remarked on similar experiences at Orland Park Bakery. There are soooo many better options for your special occasions. A few that have been recommended and used: Fleckensteins (Mokena and New Lenox), Sugar Shack (New Lenox), Wolf's (Evergreen Park), Milano (Joliet), Creative Cakes (Tinley) and even Pete's Fresh Market in Orland Park (one block south on LaGrange) has a terrific bakery and catering department. Each of these bakeries gets your special occasion order right the first time. Spare yourself the manic and impersonal baking and cake decorating at OPB--use one of the other suggested bakeries who take pride in their work. I am a huge fan of these old school, mom-and-pop bakeries. So when this one randomly fell in my radar, I had to check it off. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30 pm and there were still plenty of choices. The only item that was sold out was the flavor of the day which I believe was coconut cream. It was not a big deal to us since we generally do not like coconut fillings. We were not a fan of the chocolate yeast however we tried and enjoyed the following: 1) Strawberry custard paczki 2) Custard paczki 3) Raspberry paczki 4) Raspberry bismark donut 5) Chocolate custard donut 6) Chocolate eclair One of the ladies behind the counter was incredibly nice and generous. I have gone here many times. I hate this place but have few options. I have to first mention my worst experience here which I am still agitated about. I had been talking up this bakery to family. They asked me to bring a French Silk pie to our next holiday gathering. I did and it was the worst pie I have ever had in my life. And the entire family hated it as well and I was the bad guy. The pie filling was solid and so hard I could barley cut it. Then the guests couldn't eat it because a fork wouldn't go thought it. And the taste was terrible. It tasted like a bad chocolate moose. It's my sister's bday today and she didn't say she wanted an atomic cake until late last night. Our typical bakery is closed on Sunday so I really appreciate that the Orland Park Bakery was open today. I called before going and was pleasantly surprised that they had atomic cakes available - both 7inch and 8inch. They indicated that I didn't need to preorder...just come in and they would charge an additional $2.75 to personalize the cake. When I arrived, the bakery was actually pretty packed with customers. There are tons of options - bread, cookies, cakes, donuts, coffee cakes, you name it, they have it all. Customer service was good and as they indicated on the phone, the atomic cakes were available. I went with the 7inch, which was expensive at almost $40 with the personalization. My normal bakery charges this much for a the larger sized cake. The service and quality of food are good...it's just more on the expensive side. read more

My fiancé surprised me with a Minions cake for my birthday. Wow was it beautiful! The detail on the face and clothing was phenomenal. Whoever made this cake is very talented! They are more like stuffed Krispy Kreme donuts. Actually, they were very overstuffed and all the filling oozed out when trying to take a bite.
