You have to go through the automatic car wash. I was looking to vacuum my own car and I couldn't figure it out until I got up to the front and sadly I had to pay an outside wash only as that was the least expensive on the menu which did not include vacuuming so for $16 and a three dollar tip I didn't even get my car vacuumed While the workers were very efficient and fast and the outside was sparkling clean, I still needed to vacuum my car. read more

Hidden behind cub foods on Nicollet, this is sort of a hidden gem. I came on a Saturday late morning and it was relatively busy. I waited in my car for a good while before reaching the sign that showed what was offered and the prices which were very reasonable. There are a few add on services like washing the mats. Once my car reached the front of the line, the attendant was friendly and quick with service. They moved my car down the wash quickly. The drying and vacuuming seemed to take the longest which seemed thorough. Air fresheners are included/free but you have to ask!! I had a few water streaks in the end but for $30, it was a decent clean out. I'd go back and bring my van next time. No price change for different cars which is nice!! read more

I've been a customer of Dan's Nicollet Car Wash for years, but my most recent visit was very disappointing. The pricing structure has recently changed, and when I opted for a basic exterior wash based on the posted chart, the service I received felt noticeably different. My car was moved off to the side and seemed to be overlooked for a while. I also paid to have my floor mats cleaned, but they were barely cleaned at all. My car was in beautiful condition beforehand--low mileage with no scratches or chips--so I was especially concerned when I got home and noticed a new chip in the paint on the passenger side which was definitely caused there. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and disrespectful, especially compared to the service I've received in the past. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

NEVER, NEVER AGAIN. Ownership has changed and its not good. I requested the works car wash and the floor mats to be washed. It cost me almost 40 dollars. The wash was terrible, they did not do a good job of wiping it down. There was soap residue and dirt left on every side of my truck and the floor mats had salt residue on them. In fact there was salt spots on my council in the back seat. AND they damaged my vehicle with there equipment and would not confess to it. When confronted, they denied it and offered me a few car washes. Said they had cameras and rolled the tape and didn't see anything but would not let me see the tape. read more

Never again. Changed pricing. $45 is outrageous for an average car wash. The place is a dump, its dirty, unorganized and not worth the price. I will never get my truck washed here again. second time (in 2 months) the drivers side front tire was slashed by the car wash. They drive it into too fast and hard into the channel for the wheel. Second time I've had to get a tow and tire replaced ($580 for each tire - brand new snow tires, not including $250 for tow each time). No call from the manager so I'm done going there. Too bad, most of the folks are friendly. The tow guy told me about another tow he did for a new F150 and same thing happened to tire. This isn't a unique experience.... read more

I've been to this wash about 4 times recently and really felt I was getting good value, they seemed to do a great job and it wasn't too pricey. Today tho, I felt I got shortchanged. Spotty outside finish, some very obvious dirty areas inside that I remember getting wiped last time. Just overall felt quite sloppy. They were extremely busy, so I guess maybe the lesson is to not go during peak times like a sunny dry day after a cold wet weather period. I left feeling bummed. read more

I've been going to Dan's for over 20 years. I've had some washes that were less than great. But overall I've been pleased enough that I continue to have my vehicle washed at Dan's. That all changed yesterday. As cars come through the wash, they move into an open area that is visible to customers. From there employees finish the vehicles with wiping, vacuuming, etc., while still shifting vehicles around the area in order to fit those cars coming through the wash. And when they're done, they signal customers, and you walk through the garage to your car. It was busy, there were a lot of vehicles in the area, including a large van that completely blocked my view of my car. By the time I had a clear view, my car was outside, parked on the sidewalk, running with the car door open. I don't even leave my car running in my driveway. Keep in mind that this is 57th & Nicollet, and this area of Windom neighborhood has a ridiculously high property crime rate. I was furious. Really too mad to even speak to anyone other than to yell at a young lady, "Why did you leave on the sidewalk, nd running!?!!" When i got home and calmed down, I called Dan's, but never made contact with anyone there. read more

So at first I was happy with the wash and even tipped the guys that did the inside but when I opened the hatch to the back of my RAV4 they had sprayed water all over the back of my car which had electronics in the back. Definitely a step up from your typical drive through gas station car wash. You drive up, tell them what you want and get out of your car and wait. Amy detailing services require an appointment but a wash and wipe down are first come first served, on a regular day it's about 10-15 min. It's a little more expensive, but you've actually got people wiping down and cleaning off water marks. I've always been happy with the wash, but never tried the detailing options. Once winter starts I think I'll visit more to effectively get the infamous snow turds out of my wheel wells. read more

I had my 2021 Sienna XLE detailed. This car is in great shape, 14,200 miles on it. When I arrived to pick it up, it wouldn't start. They had left all the doors open all day and the battery was dead. They started to charge it, but didn't understand that you charge under the hood, even though the battery is in the back. They kept saying that they should charge the battery in the back, but that is not the way you do it, and the back hatch wouldn't open, because the battery was dead. It is a hybrid vehicle and not like a gas powered engine. They wanted to hook it up to another vehicle to charge it, and Toyota told me not to let them do that because it could fry the motherboard. I talked to Toyota standing right there with them in the room, on speaker, and they would not accept this. I had to leave it there over night, and have a Tow guy come out the next day to charge it properly. It started right up. Meanwhile I was out the 400 dollar detailing fee, uber trips back and forth, the fee for the towing guy to come out, and hours away from my work. I asked for a refund of my fee, which they would not do. They offered a small "discount" and a free car wash. I felt justified in asking for a refund. Not happy with the way they handled this at all. The fabric seats were very stained so they had to do a major cleaning. The seats were really wet when I got it back and it took a few days to dry but it was absolutely worth it! read more

So I took my car in to get detailed. I asked for exterior and interior detailing and they said they'd have it ready in 3 hours and they'd call me when they're done. It took them nearly 4 hours, and they didn't call me and wouldn't answer when I tried calling them a few times. So I then decided to go back to check in person. They said my car was ready, parked outside. They only did the interior, even though I requested exterior as well. It took them nearly 4 hours to only do the interior and told me it'll take another 30 to 40 minutes to do the exterior. I didn't have the time for it so I paid and left. They left some spots on the drivers side carpet unclean and the carpets in general were pretty soaking wet and still have yet to dry completely. I don't recommend this place. read more

If you are looking for a reasonably priced car wash and detail service, Dan's is a great place to go. Your car might not come out absolutely perfect, but for the price, this place is an excellent value and they do a fairly good job. We got both an "Interior Super Clean" package and a "Seat and Upholstery Shampoo" package. When we brought it in, the car was fairly dirty, both inside and out, and Dan's certainly made it much, much cleaner. Here's a breakdown of our experience: The outside of the car: They did a fairly good job, although they definitely left a few small dirt spots on the roof and hood. There was a bit of dirt left in a few out-of-the-way places as well. Overall though, it was much cleaner than when we brought it in. The wheels came out particularly clean, and the car definitely looked good from a distance. The inside of a car: The shampoo service was great. The seats were very dirty when we brought the car in, and they came out looking like new. They also did a great job cleaning all the floor mats, including the mat in the trunk area. The dash board came out clean, as did the center console. There was, however, a noticeable amount of dirt left on the floor in some places. Now, we didn't get the floor shampoo, so I wasn't expecting the floor to look perfect, but we did think they would vacuum the floor area a bit better. Still, even with the left over dirt, the inside looked really, really nice. The customer service and waiting: They got our car done very quickly, much faster than advertised. The waiting area is pretty standard for a car wash, with bathrooms, some snacks for sale, and seating. Nothing special, but it was completely satisfactory. Pricing: I thought the pricing was great considering what other places charge, and I especially like how many options they have (so you can get exactly the level of detail you want without paying for anything you don't). I had a coupon from the Chinook Book, and with it, both our services together came out to just over $80 with tax and tip. All in all, this is a great value car wash and detail service. While you might get a slightly cleaner car at other, higher-end places, you'll also pay a lot more at them. If you are looking for value, Dan's is your place. read more

I went to the car wash on Wednesday, January, 26, 2022, and will not be returning. I live in south Minneapolis and like to patronize local establishments but in this case I will not. I ordered a WashWorks Plus for 34.99 and they did a terrible job--there seems to be no oversight or supervising of employees. The car came out of the mechanical washing and then it was driven forward to the vacuuming part. I could see that the license plates and some parts of my car were still dirty and they did nothing to correct these problems. The car was not vacuumed well and NONE of the dashboard front was wiped down--not one part of it. And it was still visibly dusty and dirty. Don't the employees look and focus when they clean the inside of the car? I left a message for the owners but have not received an answer and do not expect one. Addendum: owner contacted me and gave me a very satisfactory do-over car wash the day after and I am very satisfied with the second car wash. Good job! read more

The issues first appeared when it was apparent their opening hours in reality were different from what was stated online (which was due to 'new management'). My car Pinto. She's actually a Scion. She is so much happier after we get her all shined up. I've tried two different car wash places since moving to Minneapolis a year ago. The first place broke Pinto. We weren't too happy about that. The second place is Dan's. I've seen some pictures of other people's experiences, and that's pretty sad. Fortunately, those pictures don't represent my experience. I've gone to Dan's a handful of times now. Every time, Pinto has been decently cleaned. For the money I pay (I get the "Great Wash" for $16.99), I feel like the finished product is worth the money. And, they haven't broken any pieces off of Pinto, so that is a definite plus. This last time I went, I arrived about 10 minutes after they opened. I decided to get there early as there is always a line for a wash. Even arriving a 8:10 am, there was still a line! Though, the staff at Dan's does good at getting cars in and out. I was paid and on the road in under 20 minutes. The only constructive criticism I would offer to Mr. Dan would be to make sure the rags they use are clean. I often leave with the dash still showing some kind of debris, I think from the staff over-using their rags. I can tell they made the effort to clean. I would just like to have it be squeaky clean rather than clean. But, Pinto is still always improved once we leave, so there's that. I wanted to do a "super clean" wash so know I need to arrive right before the wash opens. I checked online and all sources said the wash opens at 8am. The door to the store also says 8am. When I arrived, they were closed. I called and got voicemail which said the wash opens at 9am. I came back at 845 am and they were already open! The man at the front said they open at 8:30 am!! ugh!! Seems like an easy detail that should be fixed. Many empty their car and plan their day get this service. Update------------ After getting home I spoke with Dan and he explained a few things. 1. The fresh scent should be requested from the gentleman or lady that takes the car, not the cashier in order to ensure your request is honored. 2. The center console is not included with the works. He is very professional and clearly cares about his business and his reputation. His customer service is 5 star. He will be performing training for the staff that are newer to make sure they vacuum and hit all the points that they should. I will be back to try Dans again and I will replace my 2 star with 4. Of course that depends on the third time around. Fingers crosses, I am confident they will deliver like before. I am excited to start referring his business again. --------------------- Wow. The first time I went to this place they cleaned everything. The floors the dash the center console. The works was great. We referred tons of friends- whether or not they went there who knows... But I went there... We brought two cars and got the works. $24.99. This time they didn't even vacuum one side of the car. They dash is dusty and the center console is still gross. Sadly this was a decent overall cleaning and the seats do look better BUT this was not a detailed cleaning - in fact there are way too many overlooked areas and as the days go on I only seem to notice more that I seriously question what was actually cleaned. Um, this place RULES. First of all, I'm usually a firm believer of the saying "if you want something done right, do it yourself." Therefore, I usually detail all my cars myself, by hand. But this time my car was so atrocious, I needed outside help. So I began my research... I decided on Dan's Nicollet because not only is it in a super-conveinant location for me, but also because I noticed the previous reviews complimented their vacuum jobs. (And a solid vacuuming was exactly what I needed.) I pulled up at Dan's on a Sunday, and I was in and out in less than ten minutes. When I got in my clean car, I was amazed- completely spotless. Not one single crumb, speck of ash, lint, hair...nothing. It was like a brand new car. And let me tell you- I didn't think it was going to be possible given the condition my car was in. Hands down, best car wash experience I've ever had. Minimum wait time, good price (I got the basic wash), super fast, immaculately clean results. This is definitely my new spot. I came to get my car washed here and you have to leave your car running so they can drive it where it needs to go to clean it and they whip your car around like it's a toy. They are not careful with anything and they treat the whole process like a race. They miss spots in my car all over that are still dirty and I even paid extra to get my floor mats cleaned and they look good but they put them back in my car sopping wet. I got my car washed 2 days ago and they are still very wet. I'm giving two stars because my car is cleaner than it was when I brought it in but not the care I was looking for when dealing with my car and lots of missed spots. read more

As I write this, the rating guide indicates "Meh. I've experienced better." That really locks in why I give them two stars. Which is too bad, as in the past I have had 5 star service here. We recently picked up a used vehicle (SUV) which was by used car standards clean, well kept, and a decent value with some miles on it approaching 10 years old. The exterior was in great shape, but the interior clearly showed some grime. The previous owners had kids in booster seats - and I wasn't expecting them to take out the evidence that the seats had been strapped in there a few years - but the blobs of candy goo, and soda gunk in the cup holders were prime issues. The carpets were grimy. They also had taken the dog along a lot as the whole back area was covered in loads of dog hair. Now, I know vacuuming up dog hair is a chore, but that is why I would bring the vehicle to a detailing place. I like dogs, but I am allergic to them, and riding around with my eyes itching and nose running is not fun. We have brought vehicles here in the past, and in a couple of lease-ending situations they did an amazing job for the often-picky return process. Even though we have other places closer to where we live, I have been coming here over 10 years, and it was my go-to choice. So after picking up the vehicle at our most recent visit, we were really disappointed. The first thing we noticed - that we asked them to deal with when we picked it up and they did - was that cup holders up front that held ages-old soda goo, were not even touched. They had shampooed the carpet. Well, front and back seats and the back of the rear seat. But they had not cleaned the rug in the back at all, nor had they even touched the inside face of the cargo hatch. The loads of dog hair were all still there. They hadn't even lifted the rubber mat out of the back. Along side the seats was dog hair and bits of junk on the rug where they did not really pay attention to it. The vents and lighter sockets were all dusty and grimy, and in general, all the pain in the neck stuff to clean were apparently too much of a pain in the neck for them to clean. Which is the whole problem: the point of paying someone for an interior detailing is right there in the name - detailing. IT IS WORKING ON THE DETAILS. The small crap. The stuff that you have to bend over and get at. The reason why we can all go to the car section of Target and get microfiber cloths, rug shampoo, and detailing brushes and tools. Which I have in the garage. And after paying for this non-detailing service, I broke out the wet-dry vac and my brushes and tools and I did all that stupid detailing stuff they missed but we paid for, to keep the family happy. Bonus was they left an old toothbrush in the back so I can use that now. So, while they did shampoo 3/4 of the rug, and wiped the dash down and hit the windows with some windex, they took my cash and my time for a crummy job. I could do better myself, and I did. I don't pay for someone to do a half-ass job. The twin cities has lots of places that offer detail work for reasonable prices. Try the others. Dan's was great in the past, but I can't recommend them now for more than a basic car wash. read more

I spent $172 on an interior car detail and was lied to when I tried confirming that they would also clean my headliner. Before the work was done, I asked one more time if they would be cleaning the headliner and informed them that the main reason I came there was to have it cleaned. The man that took my key said they clean headliners. The next day, I came to get my car and they did everything but the main thing I asked for and they told me I had to pay for the work they did even though the headliner was untouched. I felt cheated and honestly scammed because they could have just been honest and I would have went somewhere else but I had to pay for the work they have done. As I have never been to the establishment, I asked the attendant what package would be the best one to purchase if I wanted the inside my car cleaned, he said any of them. I purchased the Protector Package, imagine my surprise when after I drove out of the garage, that the front passenger seat wasn't vacuumed and there was dust still over the panel and dash of my vehicle. Additionally, the two employees who were working the cash register were not wearing masks nor were the two customers in the waiting room. I had my car detailed yesterday for the first time. It was a very snowy day and they called me asking if I could come earlier (I had an appointment) because they were closing early. I agreed and they had two guys working on it and finished in half the time. They asked if I wanted a car wash still since it was so wet and sloppy out and I said no, just interior. My car looks and smells great. It was pretty dirty from the dog and teen boys and all their sports gear. But best of all, the customer service was outstanding. The two young guys who waited on me were so polite and clearly took pride in their work. I tipped them and they were genuinely appreciative and said that people don't tip that much generally (I only gave 15%!) Since they didn't wash the outside, they gave me a gift certificate to come back on a nice day and get the full wash. Kudos to the owner/manager for training your employees to be kind, articulate and respectful of the customer. I've noticed this about Dan's employees for years. read more

Brought in my brand new truck in today for a car wash and purchased the $26 package. The package comes with rim cleaning, which is the main reason I went for this package. I'm not expecting the rims to be brand new factory clean, but some effort to clean the vehicle as if it were yours (not just the rims but the entire vehicle). The only reason I noticed my truck wasn't well washed was because I parked in the Cubs next door to the car wash. I brought the vehicle back and asked one of the guys that helped washed to come look at the vehicle and showed him the rims and some other parts of the truck. Showed him how the dirt was coming off with my finger and he kept replying with "I'm just showing you what my towel is able to do" every single time I expressed my issue and concern . He claimed it was break dust that was stuck on the rims of a brand new 2019 1,000 mile car. Showed him other parts of the vehicle that was dirty but all he said was " it's dirt that comes out from the tail lights". My issue wouldn't have been as big as it is if 1) acted like he cared as if the truck was his 2) been a bit more concern and or offer to do it again without the back and forth he gave me. He was very quick to have a quick and smart remark with laughter as if something I was saying was funny. I asked why the truck wasn't at least wiped down in the inside all he said was "it doesn't come with the package you got" i am disappointed that the customers satisfaction wasn't his or the car wash' priority especially his since I did leave him a tip, a tip that I gave away just blindly because I know how customer service appreciation works. read more
