Dan was very quick to respond. He and his team started the work the next day after visiting for the quote. We wanted multiple bushes/shrubs removed from our yard and replaced with sod. We also requested a French drain put in to stop the water erosion. A week later it all seems to be draining properly. The things that gave us pause were the definition of the flat rate work day that we were paying for. We paid for two days of a "work day". The first day they were here from around 9:30AM to roughly 4PM. Dan stated this was a longer work day. The second day they were here from 8:30 to about 12PM. The team did not take breaks except for about a 30 minute lunch on site. Things I take into consideration, but still not what we were expecting for a "work day". I should have clarified. Though the overall work seems pretty good, they did leave a lot of debris and earth underneath our tree. Some of this was removed from the yard to re-sod the yard. This probably should have been taken with the other debris. Overall Dan very responsive and showed up to do the work as he said. There were just a few things that we should have clarified and addressed to have the best experience. read more

Dan charges daily giving you peace-of-mind that he won't walk away from the job with your money. He tells you what the cost of his crew per day and how many are on that crew. In my case, I had two crews: a drywall crew of three and a landscape crew of four. He provides receipts for all materials and charges you only the cost of the materials. If there are left-over materials, he'll return them and refund your money or just apply it to the next day's charge. As for the quality of work, I'm extremely happy with the results. About a year earlier, I had all the pipes in my house replaced leaving large cutouts in my walls and smooth ceilings. I delayed the drywall repair to verify the quality of the pipe replacement. Dan's crew squared up the cut-out sections of drywall, replaced it then spent 2-3 days working the seams/joints. After sanding and painting, you cannot tell where there replacement occurred. They also replaced an ornate section of chair railing that had been cut away. Again, you could never tell it was replaced. In my basement, they cleaned up a section of inner wall I had removed myself to house a rack of entertainment equipment. They cleaned it up with hardwood framing that looks amazing. I was worried about the mess and cleanup, but before starting the work, they hung plastic sheeting over sections of the house that didn't need repair. They closed off rooms, covered furniture, cabinets, etc. They laid down paper over my hardwood floors. Afterwards, they cleaned everything. I couldn't be happier with the results. The landscape crew pulled up all my overgrown shrubs - dozens of them. They removed a couple dead trees. On the side of my house, water was cutting deep channels through the ground. To control the flow of rain, they added drainage on one side of my house and buried drains from all my rainspouts to move the water to my back yard. They trimmed branches hanging high of the house. After cleanup, they planted a couple small trees and azaleas. I needed my deck replaced because it was rotting. Dan showed me how the previous builder and placed boards with the grain facing the wrong way causing the boards to hold water and rot. He also explained how much of the deck was solid and set out to only replace what needed to be replaced saving me a lot of money of labor and materials. They replaced a rotted stringer on the stairs and a number of boards on the deck as well as the hand railing. Additionally, they replaced some siding that had become damaged as well as helping me reroute my internet cable on the outside to enter the house in a section that could be hidden inside. They also replaced some rotted wood framing my front door. All the replacement work, aside from the deck which I still need to stain, you cannot tell it was replaced other than it looks brand new. I have additional work that needs to be done and I'll be calling Dan again in the spring to do that work. read more

Quoted me a reasonable price to fix it but then gave me a nice price to work on some other stuff. I asked for a quote in writing and he said he would give it to me. way overpriced - but that is my fault for falling for the sales pitch. dan told me while i was writing the check that he pays his crew at a rate which equates to 85-100k per year. i know software engineers who don't make that much. the crew was not 100% engaged as promised. his rate did not include materials. he tried to downgrade the porch stairs by bragging about the 1 rail i would lose until i insisted that he include it as discussed which resulted in another trip to the store. he tried to impress me with a design for the stairs, but it was one i had seen on a website. dan did strike me as knowledgeable. he completed the promised work but i would NEVER hire him again. read more

Dan was on time and called on his way, as I'd requested. (The others? Haven't heard from them and, based on how great Dan was, no loss to us.)
