It was not long after midday when we arrived. It was very busy.
Almost everything about it was delightful, from the food, the great welcome, to the staff, to the ambience.
This place shows in spades that when you use great ingredients and don't skimp you are on your way to happy customers, success and you can justifiably charge £15 for a sandwich (sadly without butter) and a soup.
I opted for the brisket - based lunch with a side of soup that needed properly seasoned and joy of joys they had Colman's English mustard - the best in the world.
I can't recall when I last had brisket but this one will be memorable as it was the best I've ever tasted and the meat portion generous. It came with not enough tobacco onions and a pepper sauce I'd prefer more peppery.
My wife had a Smokey Joe, without the cheese, and a meagre salad side. She was very pleased with her choice. Sad to say that no fish is offered but it's more likely that the clientele aren't inclined that way.
The cappuccinos were very good too.
