Best haunted house Ive ever been to ! I haven't got scared by a haunted attraction in a long time but Darkside is so good ! From the actors and the amazing makeup and costumes to the attention to detail in each little part of the attraction just awesome. Definitely our new yearly go to place. This haunted house is definitely up at the top of the list of must-sees on Long Island. We came from Nassau and it is sooo worth the drive. This year is the 20th anniversary and they've added many new scenes and rooms and themes! Very cool, dont want to spoil anything. the haunted house changes slightly every year, some some years it will be REALLY good, and other years slightly disappointing . they do an excellent job of hiring from the surrounding areas, teenagers, young adults, and older adults. it is often that i'll see neighbors and friends working there during the season. the entire thing is split up in to two different parts. either a haunted "graveyard" walk where you walk around outside and walk past graveyards, sepulchers, and tomb sites and get the wits scared out of you (good for young children, because the open air environment is a little more calm and less scary). or the haunted house proper, full of smoke machines, strobe lights, narrow hallways and various rooms to scare you silly! you can either pay for one single thing (either the walk or the house only) or for both. the price increases every year. a few years ago I spent $40 for a single ticket for both the haunted walk as well as the house. read more

It was scary! I loved it. Entire moment I was scared to death. Very scary and spooky moments. They were chasing you with Chain saw!! Their setup was really good too. Overall they did a great job chasing people out of the hunted house. read more

Such a great haunted house! It's a lot of fun and very spooky! I definitely will come back again next year! The only downfall is that the wait is very long. I stood in line for an hour and a half. They do have security with a meta detector which I liked a lot because it made me feel a little safer. You never know what can happen anymore In this world. read more

The best haunted house on the island hands down. The attention to detail here is incredible. Every person, room and fear has been thought out in its entirety. Also the makeup artists here are really incredible . Especially love the location. During the day you can go out to the pumpkin farms or cider house, and on the way back stop at Darkside for a good scare. read more

We've been to Darkside a few times and the wait on the line for a Thursday before Halloween was surprisingly short. Mr Z, the gatekeeper, acts casual, but you can tell he's a major player there, screening the crowd and making sure it all runs smoothly while dealing with a few characters who rival the actors' characters inside! Kudos Mr. Z! Inside, it's an outdoor maze of twists and turns that play heavily on the startle factor. I thought a lot of the makeup was starting to look the same but then there was a butcher- WTF, if he came to my front door I'd grab a Ginsu, but inside here you've got to expect some creepiness. The makeup he had was awesome, but what was really great was his imposing size and how he handled himself. He managed to scare without going over the top and screaming and that's pretty cool. Darkside, keep him at all cost! Then you go inside and it's another adventure- room after room with different themes but one that stood out was a room of dummies and you knew one had to be real. Pretty trippy. I won't spoil much, but..... LOL.... okay clowns don't scare me. I have relatives who could pass for creepy clowns so it's no big scare for me, but if you're afraid of clowns and that clown from AHS freaked you out, expect to be terrorized by one or maybe more.... Bwahahaha! Overall, it seemed shorter than past years, and maybe there were less actors, but it was still very fun and I can't wait to see what they come up with next year. First the drive is a little out of the way but honestly worth every extra minute. From the moment you walk up you know it's going to be interesting and you might even think this is going to be a piece of cake.....well in my opinion I was not expecting what I went through. Without too much detail, I had to stop to catch my breath and that was only at the first two turns. I will admit , (puts head down) I kind of pee'd myself and used my young son as a shield. When I thought, and actually hoped it was done, they just got started. Oh those scary people did me in! I walked out trying to breathe, wearing wet pants, and sore fingers from digging into my sons shoulders but I'd do it again.....next year though lol GO GO GO......... read more

We're looking for a place to take the kids as the wanted to see some "scary" stuff...So we decided to just try the "Haunted Village"....It was the early edition in the day so price was just right, Like $7 a person. It was fun, the kids got the right amount of scare...But then at a certain part maybe near "Chop Rite" they really got scared...as a few things I don't want to ruin for anyone, were little intense for any kid...But we made it through & the "Zombie Man" who we met in the beginning was there to greet us & saw my daughter was upset & he talked to her telling her don't worry you made it through...lol...and she calmed down as was like I did survive..I believe the staff here really cared that you have a great experience, That's important in my book. I would say ages 8 and over good for "Village"....We never made it to Haunted House part, But maybe in the future. read more

This haunted house is amazing, the actors/actresses put on such an amazing show from the moment you get on line. They figured out our names, and was even told by the gatekeeper that "they'll be expecting you". I had such a great time, I was paired with a group that was foreign to the area and by the end of it we were the best of friends holding onto each other! read more

Had an awesome time. I went with my kids and they loved it. We got there before the large crowds started to come. They have a coffin ride but I can't comment on it since no one in the group wanted to do it. The staff was very friendly while you wait on line. I will defiantly do this again had lots of fun. One thing I would add would be a area where food and snacks can be sold while you wait to go inside. read more

My wife and I travel the east coast for haunted houses each year to sort out the best. This place isn't worth it. It's way to short and lacks atmosphere. If your a haunted house enthusiast this place is an incredible disappointment. If you're looking for a basic cookie cutter experience you're in the right hands. Spooky Walk in Center Moriches is a lot of fun and easily three times as long. If you're willing to drive a little more but still want to stay within NY go to Headless Horseman in Ulster Park, it makes this place look like a joke. read more

I took my niece and we had no problem waiting on the long line. When we near the entrance to go in we were told that bc they were so busy we would be put in a group. Ok not what we we had planned. We thought it would b scarier w just the two of us. The group we were assigned was young kids which was good because they would be screaming and really getting into the actors scaring them. Then they decided to change our group and put us w 6 couples who did not speak english and one of the women in the group kept pushing my 13 year old niece. I asked to be put w a differnt group so that we could communicate w them and to keep this 20 yr old women from pushing my niece. Yes I was uncomfortable being w people that I couldn't understand and how much fun would that b? The "gate keeper" was the rudest man I ever met!! I asked why we couldn't go w just my niece and he yelled that it is on the web page that they could put u in groups if it was busy. I checked the web page and couldn't find that anywhere. He insisted that I explain to him why I wanted to change my group, said I was racists, and totally insulted and embarrassed me. I walked away from the group to talk to him but he yelled so loud that everyone hear him. Sorry but when a customer asks nicely and is asking discreetly you do not humiliate them. Another worker came over to say that the "gate keeper" was just tired and stressed. And yes they shouldn't have changed my original group. If the "gate keeper" wasn't such a jerk I might have enjoyed this. I went to haunted trails in Yapank and it was good, $20 dollars cheaper and the gate keeper was great. Too bad for the Dark Side as I work for a large company and all my co workers were planning on going Monday night. The "gate keeper" is the reason I will say no. This "gate keeper" needs to learn people skills and just bc he is a fireman doesn't give him a pass at being rude to people. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! EXPECT NIGHTMARES!! SERIOUSLY!! I can't speak highly enough for The Darkside haunted house. this year as well as last year my visit Darkside was on a perfect cold, rainy ,dreary night. Darkside scared me at least twice as much as two popular Long Island haunted houses that I visited earlier that night combined!! I will Definitely revisit this season. only $20, Darkside Haunted House provides a terrifying walk-through with cleverly detailed scenes and unique designs. If you have never seen the haunted house, you're definitely missing out!! If you have seen Darkside before, then you WILL want to go again and see the fantastic additions. So many new things to see here, you won't believe they added everything and just one season. their hard work and dedication to the haunt experience truly shines through the quality, design, and performance. We had to wait almost an hour in the rain for the place to open. They blamed the delay in opening on the rain - as though it was a surprise that it was going to rain. Also, we paid extra to be on the expedited "Speed Pass" line, but there were no signs indicating where this line was, and nobody there to tell us. When we finally figured it out we got on the Speed Pass line and then watched as the guy running the line let people on the regular line go in ahead of the people on the extra-cost Speed Pass line. When I brought this to his attention he barked at me that he knows what he's doing and has been doing it for years and doesn't need anyone to tell him how to do his job. Obviously, he does need some to explain how he's supposed to do his job. There are plenty of alternative Halloween attractions on Long Island, and we will never go back here. read more

I went to the Darkside Haunted House on a Friday night and it was one of the best Halloween experiences I have ever had. Just to put it in context, I am NOT a huge fan of haunted houses or scary movies or anything like that, but a group of friends wanted to go to one and I was put in charge of finding a place. I looked around for a place with good reviews, that was affordable, and nearby to where I lived and I found the Darkside Haunted House and let me tell you... it did NOT disappoint. I had an absolute blast and so did all my friends. The lighting and choreography was absolutely amazing, the actors were extremely committed and talented and clearly enjoyed being part of the production. The sets were really scary but not over done but really what made it 5/5 was the acting. I really can't stress enough how talented and professional they all were, the costumes and make up and the sound effects combined with the props and their incredible abilities really made the whole thing worthwhile and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone and everyone. read more
