Darling Doughnuts offers a rotation of weekly flavors to choose from. The donuts are square and are also available in mini sizes. We picked Boston cream, Churro, and classic vanilla sprinkle. The texture was really nice and light with strong flavor. Loved the donuts! I liked the Churro best as they make the chocolate with a hint of cayenne, so you get a kick of flavor there. The shop atmosphere was fun and gave me a Wes Anderson movie vibe with the colors and decor. Service was friendly and quick. Took a minute to decide but they were patient with us. Took me long enough but I finally made it! With doughnuts being over 4 dollars a piece I opted for just one. I'm glad I did though not only because of the price but, because let's face it, I would've ate all of them. I absolutely love churros - then again who doesn't? So I decided to get the churro doughnut but to my surprise, it was spicy. that's why I deducted a star. apparently they put cayenne pepper in their chocolate. Is it just me or is that weird? The donut itself was so soft and fluffy and it was perfectly seasoned with sugar and cinnamon. I would definitely subtract the chocolate with the cayenne next time or at least put chocolate without cayenne if you would? Can you do that? but anyways, yeah, I'll be back. This place is unique and a must-have when visiting Saratoga Springs!!! If you cant figure out what they serve, just stop reading and dont go as you are beyond help !!! Finally made it to Darling while they were open. I'm not often in the area at just the right time to indulge in the many choices that they have daily. We arrived towards the end of the day-just before they closed...so there weren't a ton of options (as expected). The donuts are pretty big and very tasty. Fluffy in texture with decadent toppings. Love that they have smaller bite size options available as well. They're a bit pricey for fried dough but that's the norm for specialty donuts these days. Staff was friendly and helpful- plus it was super clean and inviting inside. One of these days I'll make an effort to get there earlier to experience the larger selection of fresh daily yums. read more

We enjoyed a "mini" butter and salt donut. It was delicious wi the great texture and just enough for two bites each. We also had iced lattes mine with a mocha cayenne flavor. The kick of cayenne was a pleasant offset to the sweetness of the chocolate syrup. The service was prompt and efficient. We weren't able to enjoy sitting outside as a larger party used all the chairs there but we sat at the inside bar. Visited during racing season so it was a bit busy and this place had a line out the door on each morning so we knew we had to give it a try. My husband LOVES donuts. He got a chocolate covered one that he said was delicious. I am a plain glazed girlie - so that is what he got me. Unfortunately it was too doughy for my liking. It was almost cake like texture. It was very heavy. You could easily split one of these for breakfast. I prefer my donuts lighter and airy but if you like more of a pastry style then this place is for you. they have a bunch of really cool flavors and super cute decorated ones. Stopped in while strolling the gorgeous downtown of Saratoga Springs on a college visit with my daughter. It's amazing. I love Saratoga Springs and this shop is one of the reasons. An early, cold Saturday Saratoga Springs morning. Got on street parking right in front of the store. No line. All donuts available. No issues. My issue, I felt very excited looking at their menu. SO many flavors. Slightly overwhelming but I entered their location and realized there are only about 6 flavors at a time. I can honestly say, not interested in most of the 6 flavors offered at this time. (Footnote: it was the weekend after thanksgiving- so many flavors I coul think of this time of year.)I bought galaxy donut and the pecan pie. Galaxy is a vanilla but with a colorful display. Pecan pie is very close to a maple donut. The pecan pie was good but... felt more like cake frosting. I did like that they sell small donuts that are square (so not really a donut) and have a regular size since posh donuts are rich and heavy. They also had donut holes aka munchkins. Tasty yeast donuts at a premium price. For months after their grand opening there were lines out the door and an hour wait with sellouts happening often before noon. I happen to hit them on a snow day with no line or wait. Lucky me! The interior is minimalist and geared toward takeaway. I sampled a variety of their mini donuts including galaxy (vanilla icing with purple mirror glaze), cannoli, chocolate cherry, lemon cake and a few others. They were all good to varying degrees. What you prefer will be entirely up to your individual taste buds. They're fresh everyday and have a rotating menu of 50 glaze flavors. The big debate centers around value. Mini donuts at Darling are $2 and full size are $3.74 each. That's on the high end for donuts and on par with some of the most well known donut shops in the country. For comparison, yeast donuts at the Doughnut Plant in Brooklyn are $3.50 - 4.75 while most of the donuts at Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland are under $2 with the specialty donuts reaching $3.50. Yeast donuts aren't particularly intensive nor is topping them with glaze so these are certainly a premium priced product. I think Darling is a great addition to downtown Saratoga and an occasional treat for home or office. read more

What a cute little doughnut shop! Lots of doughnuts at noon on a weekday to chose from. They make yeast risen doughnuts with different flavored frosting on top. They do have some filled doughnuts, for some reason I thought they'd all be filled so I was a little disappointed that they weren't. I got a box of nine minis of which only two-Boston cream and Dalgona- had filling. Those were my favorites! If the rest had had corresponding fillings, this would have been a five star review. I arrived at 9:55 AM on a Sunday and was at the door an hour and five minutes later. That's almost exactly the lunchtime wait at Micklethwaite's in Austin, though without the mentalist and the free beer, and as at Micklethwaite's most items will be sold out by the time you get to the ordering window. At Darling Doughnuts, you can see the boxes carried by patrons leaving the shop get steadily smaller as fewer and fewer items are available. I was lucky enough to score one full-size donut, butter pecan, plus churro minis and a box of donut holes. I'm told they use a brioche dough which accounts for the extra richness of the donuts. But after you've been on your feet so long it feels good to punish the rest of your body. I'm glad I tried it, but probably will not go back until the lines are quite a bit shorter. read more

I wanted to make sure we tried these doughnuts on our trip to Saratoga Springs from seeing them on a TikTok video weeks prior to the trip. They did not disappoint! Such a fun and delicious spot. They said most days they make 1000 doughnuts so for best selection go early morning especially if busy time of year. Always looking for the local donut shop in every city I go to. This place was 2 blocks from my hotel. Definitely a small local business which I was happy to support. Im thinking I met with both owners. They have square donuts and then mini versions of the same regular size donuts. I went with the Boston Cream and the Chocolate Chip Cookie donuts. Most of these are iced. And the icing is still somewhat wet. Unfortunately they were stacked on top of one another in the bag. So it was a little messy getting the paper off. They might want to rethink their packaging for 2 donuts, or 3. The donuts were fresh and texture was pillowlike with a bit of a chew. The Boston Cream actually had the cream portion throughout the square. The chocolate Chip Cookie variety really had no unique taste to it. Still as fresh as the other, but it just tasted like a regular donut. And it was rerally sweet. I also got a hot chocolate. This was pretty good. Definitely tasted homemade. Stayed hot for a while.
