It was for a birthday I made cannoli cake but didn't want to make the actual cannolis to save time but wanted a higher quality version than price chopper I also got a latte and it was very good- nice and hot (some places they're kinda cooler) The service was great a woman with short brown hair helped me & made the latte. This is a tragedy. And that is not a word I use lightly either. What kind of person buys a gem like Mrs. London's and doesn't take the time to learn the recipes, master the craft, and maintain the standards of what was once arguably the best boulangerie and patisserie in America? Seriously, there is someone here to blame. What is their name? I want to know. Sure, it's not a civil or criminal offense. But it's a crime against food. It's a crime against the people of Saratoga Springs. And it's just plane offensive. I regret if anyone was driven to try Mrs. London's based on my previous glowing reviews. I am so sorry. I had no idea. But I was just there this morning. I gazed into the pastry case at the croissants, and my heart sank. I felt sick. The croissants looked like something you would see in an airport. I think the croissants at Costco might be better. These were flat, flabby, and pale things. Far from the perfect, golden, flaky, structured, glistening beauties of the past. And this isn't about fond recollections. I have receipts. Photos from the past and pictures of the present. It's night and day. If the new owners aren't going to preserve Mrs. London's food, they should have the decency to put someone else's name on the joint. I too asked about the breads, and was told "their baker retired". Fortunately, Michael London taught other people to bake amazing artisan bread, and his legacy lives on elsewhere. Unfortunately, nobody at the shop bearing his name bothered to pick up the torch. What a shame. It is so sad. I am literally heart broken. This was one of my favorite bakeries in the country. I went out of my way to make a special stop in my limited time passing through the region. But I suppose nothing lasts forever, and this is a valuable reminder of that unfortunate fact. My days visiting Mrs. London's are over. I can no longer recommend it in good conscience. No if's ands or but's about it. And after my experience, I went and read all the reviews. This is a thing apparently. And to make it worse, the owner, instead of apologizing with humility and concern to the guests that keep him in business instead writes entitled zero accountability messages back to patrons after leaving bad reviews. Honestly that's immature and short sighted. The good will of the public doesn't last forever. This place needs to update its website! I made a special point of heading there when I got to Saratoga, specifically to buy some of their breads--I am a big fan of local, artisan breads, and theirs sounded very much worth trying, I was looking forward to buying several loaves to take home with me. But to my chagrin, the only bread they had were baquettes. I was told that their bread baker had retired. So this was a major disappointment. I did buy a couple scones, which were good, and everything else I saw looked quite appealing, but I went there for the bread, and they no longer have any. read more

Here is my review of Mrs London's: We were excited to stop by Mrs. London's since a close friend said it was a cute spot for coffee. From start to finish, Mrs London was a huge disappointment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yes, the wallpaper and furnishings are cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, that is where it ends. Upon entering Mrs. London's there were two people working, both saw us but did not greet us or speak to us. Ok. Maybe having a bad day. We stood waiting to be seated until my husband asked, "do we order here or at the table". The 30-something man taking orders was very unfriendly and barely made any eye contact at all. I was very friendly, smiling at him thinking he just needed someone to cheer him up. Nope, he was not interested in serving any customers that day; we were obviously getting between him and taking a break. I ordered the quiche and an iced mocha coffee. I also ordered lemon almond croissant to go. When the man brought the quiche he dropped it on the table and didn't make any eye contact and gruffly said, "here you go"; then spun around on his heel and walked away. There was no effort at customer service - at all! Without exaggeration, the quiche had barely 1/4" of egg " and it had no seasoning. The "egg" was more like whipped non-fat milk rather than egg. There was one small piece of ham in it and the crust was so crumbly that it all broke off. (Fortunately, the quiche was hot!) Because there was no substance to the quiche, I was still hungry after eating it. I wound up eating most of the lemon almond croissant right there in the cafe. The lemon/almond croissant did not taste like almond or lemon until the very last bite when there was a very small piece of lemon curd in there. I wondered... Was there a shortage of raw product at Mrs. London's? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mrs. London's dining area also saw better days as she was dirty and the tables were not in the best repair[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. (See photos) Sanitation... we watched other patrons being served while the female waitress/server wiped her nose with back of her hand! She did not wash her hands after doing this! (He was also serving food and touching money and credit cards!) I'm pretty certain this is a health department violation! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only table available when we sat down, had a very large chunk of marble missing, exposing the wood surface underneath. And the table rocked[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We would have sat at the table next to us ( it was a cute old wooden table but the finish wore off it long ago and no one repaired it leaving it to be a very unsanitary table to consume food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we left, I offered our table to an elderly lady who was stopping by to eat. Never did I expect to find Canele's outside of France. When I saw them in the bakery case, I did a double take and began to geek out excessively. I think a lot of bakeries don't bother making them not only because of the ingredients but also because you have to acquire a special mold to make them and they're not readily available. They tasted great, not overly sweet, rich, and filled with that familiar orange zest flavor. It went perfectly with a cup of black currant tea. My first time trying that kind of tea, and it was really good. I was very pleased to be taking a break from walking/shopping and being transported to Europe for those moments. While I enjoyed myself, I did find that their prices were a little excessive, but then again, I think that was true for most of the shops/restaurants in the area. Would go back again though if I were ever to return to Saratoga. read more

What a gem in a hole in the wall! This place was bustling on a recent Saturday afternoon and the cozy shop space probably added to the busyness. Once I got somewhat over the initial sticker shock, the question on my mind quickly became, 'How many things should I get?!' It was a bit of a mayhem because the periphery of the small space was lined with tables and chairs, leaving barely 4 feet between the display cases and the tables, all of which were occupied, by the way. Staff were good about asking if we need help or were ready to order, and we eventually settled on 6 baked goods: - Pamiere was more air than body, and although I appreciate the light flaky layers, theirs is personally not my favourite style. - Chocolate pecan cookie: I like the glazed finish and the dark chocolate, with fudge-y texture. - Apple tart: juicy apple slices enveloped in a monstrously big, flaky pastry - so good! - Chocolate almond croissant: I liked the thick, cake-y topping with almonds and bread crumbs. - Cinnamon braid: chunky, tender pastry with cinnamon filing and crispy, glazed shell - would get this again for sure. - Almond croissant: as you'd expect, and nothing wrong with that. Staff used to be very friendly and efficient, but the last few times I have been in the counter staff has appeared frazzled, rushed and the senior staff seemed to have no patience while training clearly new employees. Either apologized for the abrupt shift and after an unreasonable amount of time, another waitress noticed me standing there still and assisted. We read about this place online when reading about Saratoga Springs, NY. Apparently the husband and wife team are a very talented chef/baker combo. We agree! The only downside was that we wanted a half caf iced coffee but they have no decaf coffee that is iced. The chocolate almond croissant is to die for and massive! The fresh fruit tart is so fresh, just the right amount of cream to fruit sitting in a delectable pastry crust! Perfection! The macarons are so authentic! We only bought raspberry so can't speak to other flavors. The raspberry was very raspberry tasting. It was as if we were eating juicy, sun ripened berries off the canes! My only dislike was the sweetness. Not enough of the natural tartness of a raspberry, too much sweet. I know, other people prefer less tart more sweet. Still, they were delicious. The entire shop is clean, beautifully decorated, and has the pastries showcased perfectly in the glass front display case. The staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful with suggestions when the apple tart we wanted was not available. We would return when we find ourselves in Saratoga Springs again! Let's start with the perfection that is their tomato soup. This soup is so creamy and "tomato-y" without being heavy. The sweet is balanced beautifully with the acid and that sharp cheddar tops it off just right. We also split a turkey and Gruyère on croissant sandwich which was fresh and light. Loved the crisp lettuce on it. The cafe salad was good too. We got a few sweet treats to take with us which brought all the yums. Well done on the Kuoign-Amann. What a cute place! I went up to saratoga to grab some macarons for a tasting we were doing that evening. The shop is right in a busy spot of Saratoga, but still close to parking so it was easy to get to. The shop is like your grandmothers cozy kitchen with the floral wallpaper and nic-nacs. I loved the aesthetic. So I picked up 8 lemon/berry macarons and they were good albeit smaller than the ones from other bakeries. We may had enjoyed another flavor more if we had gotten them. I also picked up a large baguette which was absolutely amazing. I will be sure to grab some bread from here on my next visit. Very cute little bake shop on the Main Street of Saratoga Springs. I loved the ambiance inside, lots of cute doilies and well-decorated signage. My favorite menu item was the tomato soup. I was glad to get a pasty too because they tie them up with cute pink ribbons to go. Great spot for picking up a little treat, or surprising your SO with a cute lunch out. Tables were pretty busy when we went, so we ate at a nearby park. Service was a little slow, but they were pretty darn busy when we went. I imagine that during race days there are lines out the door. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you. First off, it smells delicious in there. Second off, everything look delicious. Choose wisely with your eyes and you should be good. Along with some other things we ordered 2 hot panini sandwiches I finished my bowl of soup and still no sandwiches We kept waiting I said something about our sandwiches and the girl behind the counter overheard me. For the last 21, yes TWENTY ONE years, I had a home near Albany and a cabin in the Adirondacks. This led to frequent driving up and down the Northway. When my children were young and at home, I tried to stop at one exit on each trip and explore a new attraction or eatery. Saratoga was often our destination, combining browsing, museum visits, or shopping for shoes (remember the Saratoga Shoe Depot? What a great selection!) but Mrs. London's was always a favorite stop for my family. Whether we were eating there or taking treats with us for the next meal, we each had our choices: my son loved the chocolate chip cookies, I was always after the amazing almond croissants. Honestly, anything snd everything they offer is excellent. Mrs. London's definitely gets the Croissant Award for best croissant between Albany and Montreal. I'm SO glad they are still there and compel me to get off the Northway many times when my mental calorie-tallying conscience tries to keep on the straight and narrow highway. Stopped in yesterday, 11/2/24 to have a pain au chocolate as I remember they were excellent from years past. Not anymore! The croissant itself was fine but the chocolate which was used was ghastly. Completely inferior filling as opposed to the chocolate used in french pastries; tasted like bad Easter chocolate from the drug store. I'll try it again in a few months. Very cute little spot in (what I assume is called) Downtown Saratoga Springs! It's got some seating inside, but I got my goodies to go. I saw one pie (cranberry walnut? cranberry pecan? cranberry and some kind of nut?) and grabbed it for my own! I also added on two croissants and a cinnamon danish. Pastries were super good, even after driving a bit to get them home! The croissants were flaky and buttery and the cinnamon danish was really cinnamon forward and still soft-ish. Props to them! This bakery brings me such joy whenever I'm in Saratoga Springs. The warm homey ambiance on top of the delicious pastries makes for the perfect place to start your day. The employees are all really friendly too. Food: You can't go wrong with any of the pastries but the favorites between me and my boyfriend are the Brittany pastry, the macarons, and the chocolate brioche sandwich type pastry. The tomato cheddar soup is heavenly, especially on a cold winter day. I also love the Turkey croissant sandwich, I have random days where I crave it. Cost: Slightly above average for the pastries, but for the high quality of food, it's worth it. The large loaves of bread were going for $7, not bad. I mean, there's other stuff at Mrs. Londons...but I spied French Macaroons there a long time ago and finally stopped in to get a sampling yesterday. When these are done right, they're one of my favorite treats. They're done right. Perfectly soft, slightly chewy and sweet with delightful color-coordinated flavors. Not cheap - $2.50 each or $15 for a 6 pack. I picked up a challah bread and a Palmier as well. The palmier was ok; it's not really my thing and the challah was decent but just a smidge too well done on the outside. If you're a purist re: desserts, you probably won't find a lot of stuff to choose from for your sweet tooth here. However, if you're a sweet-a-holic non-discriminating-carb-and-fat loving mojo (as I am), there are several really interesting sweet croissants and other delightful concoctions to choose from. There's not a ton of seating available, but they serve soups and sandwiches as well. If you need to get your sweet and savory on, this is the place to get it done. read more
