Saw a Tik Tok reviewer recommend Daryl's so we took a ride over. Cute shop with a little bit of wait outside. Purchased two dozen all of different kinds. Their chocolate cake with icing is outstanding. However, the rest of the donuts we purchased were average at best. They charge 20$ a dozen and is totally NOT worth the price. The owner of this business is one of the rudest people i've ever encountered. he is extremely disrespectful to customers and employees and it is well known in the neighborhood what a jerk he is. he had cars towed for being stuck outside his business in a giant snow storm when they were iced to the ground a few years ago so it's not surprising to me how awfully he treats every one around him, he clearly has no compassion. i have witnessed him yelling at people for their dogs peeing outside his business (where every dog in the neighborhood pees and good luck controlling all the wild life that goes to the bathroom outside) and after the last time i witnessed him treating workers like garbage i walked out before ordering since i don't think this man deserves a dime anymore. shame we can't have a better bakery in the neighborhood i can switch to. at least ill get my breakfast needs met by Keswick Coffee house who's employees are the sweetest people. I was really hoping to find a legit donut spot closer to where I live, and while the donuts here are fine, I'll have to continue my search for the perfect donut place. Other people weren't lying about that smell which I will describe as 'unused garage'. It's a little weird and kind of off putting. However there were many patrons here who didn't seem to mind. My husband got a cheese and cherry danish, which was quite large actually. He said it was just okay. I tried two donuts, a cruller and a cake donut. The cruller was the best part, and was baked perfectly. The cake donut was a overly soft but was at least packed with a nice chocolate flavor similar to devil's food cake. We got five items (three pastries and two beverages), and it came out to ~$8.60 which seems typical for the area. The coffee here surprised me as it is a bit better than your average coffee. Not gourmet per se, but good. This place is okay, and since they're the only real donut place around I can see why they have their loyal customers. read more

Worst customer service EVER!!!! I went to order my mom's favorite cake for her 80th birthday only to be told they can't take birthday cake orders. I asked for the manager and this guy cames out and just flat out say NO. Then he goes on to say " Half my staff is in Florida for my nephew's wedding. I didn't even get to go to that!" That's My fault HOW?? What an ass. So now I have to find another bakery that makes a cake with raspberry filling for mom's 80th. In the middle of a cold Saturday afternoon in Glenside Village just a few blocks from the famous Keswick Theater, Daryl's Pastries sits in a small aging storefront in the center of this attractive historic district. The shop was crammed with chest high display cases full of colorful cakes, cookies, pastries and my reason for being there - donuts. Perhaps six people could fit in front, and a half dozen more in the tiny cafe sitting area to the right side. Service was friendly, if necessarily rushed due to lack of room. By my arrival, some choices were depleted, but I was able to score a box of traditional doughboys (glazed, chocolate glazed and apple crisp) and a cup of coffee for the drive back to Bucks to share with the family. Sadly, the old fashioned brownies I craved were not available. I found all the samples to be enjoyably sweet and well textured. The skin was slightly crisp and the heart soft and tender as they should be. They went down smoothly with their coffee chaser. The family happily agreed. Given the current popularity of customized donut shops offering multiple varieties made 'just in time' for the consumer, these badboys were somehow dated, but a pleasant reminder of how good rounders can be. We have been buying things we shouldn't here for many years. Are they as good as the best places in Chestnut Hill or Souf Philly? Nope. I love going to Daryl's. They have great coffee and awesome glazed donuts. I wasn't too thrilled with the Boston creme donut for some reason, but the glazed is so perfect! Other pastries I like are the cherry cheese danish, cheese pocket and the giant cinnamon roll isn't bad either. It's a great little place to sit down with your kids or your friends and have a quaint relaxing morning chat. I have yet to try any breakfast sandwiches or cakes. read more

Considering I paid $19.49 for a really small cake I was expecting the taste to be good. I got a cake that tasted like it was baked a week old and stale. I can't believe what a waste of money it was. Family owned bakery in the heart of quaint Keswick Village offering super inexpensive, light and airy donuts, sinful, decadent cakes, and a decent enough cup of joe. Add some friendly employees, including the owner's son who I enjoyed chatting with very much, and some small town neighborhood charm, and you've got a winner in my book. I personally loved purchasing some of those old fashion pay by the pound cookies with jimmies for my girls just as I remember my mom doing for me when I was a little girl. Brought back such good childhood memories. Isn't it amazing how food can do that?! Hubs really enjoyed his donuts, and me, a cup of coffee. I'm totally coming back for either the health cheesecake with chocolate ganache and Oreo crust or the chocolate ganache cake covered with chocolate shavings for our next family holiday dinner. Maybe I'm a donut snob, but everyone saying this shop has the best donuts probably never tried any other donut. Honestly chain supermarket donuts satisfied me more than Daryl's. Small, cramped inside that didn't smell like baked goods to me. It kinda smelled like the inside of a basement, which should've stopped me from ordering anything. No takeout menu, only a small non-descriptive menu on the wall without prices. No labels on anything, and had to ask just about what every baked good was. I know it was 11:30 on a sunday, but literally they only had about 5 varieties of donut and only 2 filled flavors. Awkward service from 2 women who didn't speak louder than a whisper. Got a half dozen for $7.20. Kinda pricy. Everyone agreed the donuts were mediocre at best, and incredibly dry. Not in any rush to come back to Daryl's. read more

If I attempted to be a regular at Daryl's, I'd probably weigh over 300 pounds, but this is one shop for donuts that might justify it. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't make a perfect cake donut, you should get out of the business. It starts from there. I don't care how good the chicken sandwich is at a burger joint. Cake donuts are fundamental. And lucky for us, Daryl's makes a perfect cake donut. The outside has just the right hint of crispness wrapped around a moist, light-tasting inside. Covered in chocolate, and it just gets exponentially better. The raised donuts also beat just about any chain donut shop and most good independent bakeries. I know Daryl's makes a lot more than donuts, but that's what we always go back for. It's the kind of local shop that makes you proud of where you live. We love to show off Daryl's to our guests when they come to visit from other parts of the country. When they come back, they often ask if we're getting donuts for breakfast. The shop also serves very good coffee and other pastries. Around St. Patrick's, you'll can also find Irish Potatoes. All year long, they have cookies and cakes as well. If you need something closer to a real breakfast, Daryl's also offers big tasty breakfast sandwiches and more, but as I've said, we mostly go for the donuts. read more

I first tried Daryl's doughnuts when a friend decided to bring in "birthday doughnuts" instead of cupcakes. In my opinion, a much much better idea. I tried the glazed, and another one with white frosting marbled with chocolate. the doughnuts i tried were good enough that i actually went to the bakery myself to try a few more varieties. much better than dunkins! the doughnut itself has just the right softness and chew, and the icing melts in your mouth without the hardened glaze or harden icing poking you in the gums, or worse, crunching when you bite down on it. even more impressive was the fact that the doughnuts were presented at night for the birthday surprise when sitting in the cold car (it's winter) all day long, and still tasted as if you had eaten it in the morning when it was actually purchased! have you ever tried eating a dunkin doughnuts at the end of the day or saving it for the next morning? i rest my case... 4 stars because i havent tried the other things on the menu yet, but im sure to go back again. read more

I was looking for fresh, homemade Christmas Cookies to give as a gift without spending a lot of money. I was impressed that Daryl's Bakery had "domes" of cookies in various poundage as well as cookie trays in various poundage and boxes too. I purchased the small dome which to me appears to be over a pound for $9.98 it is in a plastic lidded dome to keep the cookies fresh. They also have a large dome for $17.98 - that appears to be over two pounds. They have cookie trays I noticed in 1/2/3 pounds and the tray looks nice - definitely re-usable. Great gift for the office, staff or a neighbor. Or you can cheat and bring them to the cookie exchange. Thank you. EXACTLY what I was looking for - the cookies taste amazing. The small "butter" cookies with double jam and the center cherry ones are tasteless, not at all buttery and almost have a metal taste that is not palatable. I've tried these on a few occasions to be sure. They are awful. Just so strange. I've had some of the best (from other bakeries) and, some of the worst. These are bottom of the barrel. read more

This review is 100% based on my experience with the owner. The counter people are amazing. The donuts are fantastic. The owner is incredibly rude. I called to order a birthday cake. He asked me when did I need it. I said Sunday (it's Thursday morning). He said "I can't do that, I broke my ribs." I thought he was joking. He said, "No and was glad I found it funny." He then proceeded to hang up on me. I've had interactions with him before in the shop and he does often joke with customers and my children so I assumed he was kidding. So I called back assuming this was part of some joke. He proceeded to give me more grief about his broken ribs and then hung up on me again. I'm sorry he's in pain and broke his ribs but I will sooner buy the awful donuts from Dunkin' then ever return to his establishment. Glenside is in desperate need of another bakery. read more

This is a little hole in the wall bakery in Glenside. I was there twice, thinking I'd give it a second chance. Things were ok. The donuts weren't great, they pastries were kind of dry and crumbly, cinnamon buns didn't have much cinnamon. It's tough finding a good bakery but I know I won't be stopping back. Especially since I always seem to see them in the news when they get robbed at gunpoint. Daryl's is an institution. The sweets are always good. The donuts are good. I wouldn't use words like "elite" but I would use "delicious" to describe their donuts. No doubt I am happy on the occasion when someone puts out Daryl's donuts out at work instead of Dunkin' Donuts. The coffee is good. I go with the French Caramel Creme. They only sell iced coffee (vanilla, caramel or regular) in these huge clear plastic cups. They have pre-made egg sandwiches. They are good if a little big. They offer hot sauce packets which is a nice touch. Overall, it's a local mom-and-pop place with good if limited breakfast fare. An asset for Glenside. read more

I call Daryl's for my daughter's birthday cake and when I started to ask questions about the icing on the cake he says, " WILL YOU PICK ONE ALREADY " my response was I will from a different bakery and hung up. I was so mad and upset!! I called back and asked to speak to the owner and HE started to yell and curse at me. I will never order anything and give my money to THIS establishment ever again!! I will also let everyone I know how I was treated by Daryl's. And everyone I don't know. I've had the donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee here. The donuts and coffee are pretty good and I especially like the fact that the coffee temperature is piping hot. The same, however, cannot be said for the breakfast sandwiches which are hearty but lukewarm and taste like they were made as soon as the bakery opened. It would be better if they made them to order or at least every hour on the hour. Darryl's is ok but I won't hurry back anytime soon. read more
