    a variety of baked goods

My mom, my husband, and I took the train up to the Elkins Park station when were in Philly for a long weekend a few weeks ago. Lucky for us - Rolings Bakery faces the station's parking lot and we were in the mood for a treat to enjoy on our walk in Elkins Park. We stopped in at the tiny Kosher bakery and grabbed some hamantashen (prune for me) and rugelach and other treats! Everything was great. The service was great. There's nowhere to sit and enjoy so it's a take and go place, but everything we had was wonderful. If I lived in the area, I'd be temped to pick up some treats from Rolings every Sunday morning!

I was leaving FoodChaser's Restaurant and ran across Roling's Bakery which is right around the corner at Harrison & Montgomery Ave. in Elkins Park, Pa. I was curious and wanted to check it out. It was a step back in time as soon as you step in. Looks like this bakery has been here for many, many decades. It's very small and nothing fancy at all. I could tell the recipes where generational. I was so excited, looking at all the goodies trying to decide what to get. Finally I got 2 elephant ears and 2 blueberry muffins. The elephant ears were dense, but yet flaky. Both were delicious. Not too sweet and taste like it was cooked from scratch. I would definitely get both of those again! I don't know if it was me or not, but the man behind the counter was staring at me very hard. It made me feel really strange. I don't know what to really say about it. He waited on me just fine, but made me feel strange. Since this was my first time here, maybe I need to give them another try. This is the only reason they get 3 stars. Anyway.... the baked goods were delicious!

Rolings Bakery takes you back. Back to either holiday dinners at Bubbie's or to a small little town in Eastern Europe circa 1930. Rolings is a sweet, extremely tiny, no frills bakery with all of those old fashion treats I personally grew up with... babka, rugelach, knishes, strudel, bialys, fresh baked thinner bagels like in Europe and Montreal and challah, oh my!! They also make stunning detailed cupcakes and cakes, chocolate covered croissants and more. You honestly cannot go wrong picking up any dessert here! The chocolate babka and chocolate drizzled rugelach are favorites with my entire extended family however. The challah is really the best around! Whole wheat, plain or raisin, small or large. Challah rolls and round challah as well. Come early in the day as they frequently sell out for Shabbat (Friday night). Definitely make a stop by! You will not be disappointed. Certified kosher. Parking is quarter meter. Cash only! Closed on Shabbat (Saturday)

Wow the sufganiyot for Chanukah were incredible! Highly recommend. They had 3 flavors: chocolate, classic sufganiyot, and cream filled

I love this place. In my opinion the best Kosher bakery in the Philadelphia area. I especially like their pumpernickel bread.

Amazing kosher bakery just a bit outside the city! The honey cake was wonderful, my kids loved the little sample piece I gave them!

Best bakery in area. And on top of that Kosher. Great bagels, raspberry twists, Mandelbread, bobka, etc. Pies are outstanding too.

But I've been known to leave with a danish, a slice of coffee cake, and a few cookies I swear are made with fresh-churned butter. There's something very special about the traditional offerings of Schenk's and the genuine, old-fashioned vibe. I'm good with leaving the gluten-free whole oats to the on-trend places a few blocks away--Schenk's knows exactly who they are. Sticky buns would 100% be my death-row dessert. And now that they deliver with DoorDash, I don't even have to put on shoes to make bad decisions.

Did you know that the dough for donuts has to be "proofed" and they have to be baked fresh daily, starting at 5 am? And just when I thought Schenk's couldn't surprise me again, this weekend I thought my husband had picked up a birthday cake for my son's family celebration, but he "forgot" Schenk's now delivers!! DoorDash to the rescue. We took whatever was available so it was a white cake w/ vanilla crème frosting. Thank you to the bakery angel who personalized it with my son's name and even managed a soccer theme decoration too. Sweet, thoughtful, and totally spot-on. There's clearly new leadership quietly leveling things up--modern touches, helpful updates, and new offerings--but still showing up with traditional cinnamon-swirled schnecken. You can come back here and thank me later.

I don't believe this ever ever was a true Paris Baguette because their offerings are a lot different than the other two Paris Baguettes in the area. Since they rebranded and remodeled the prices have went up. I see they now offer lattes, smoothies, waffles, sandwiches and other things that weren't there before. Most of the pastries, although decent quality were overpriced to begin with and now even much more so. My favorite was the red bean donut and the walnut tart. I'm sorry but $3 is a bit much for a 2-in donut. I never really liked their buns which were about a dollar more and not as good as the ones you get in Chinatown. The lattes look interesting and I may try one. When I first went after they remodeled and rebranded I asked the price of the sandwiches, which were tiny. I don't remember the price but it was pretty astronomical for the size so I would pass on those. Looking at the menu online there's no prices for anything which is never a good sign. As much as I like to support local businesses I won't be getting much from here anymore in the future.

Sincerely speaking,I don't think this is a Paris Baguette, more like a regular bakery. It is not like the bakeries in Chinatown, probably bc it is Korean owned??? Even though they didn't have the cake I was looking for, I end up picking up some cream buns($1.75), vanilla roll($15), and rice balls with bean paste($1.25). Prices are definitely on the steep side. But packaging is very nice, especially the box the vanilla roll came in. UPDATES: Didn't like anything of what I purchased. The cream buns were tasteless, couldn't even taste the dough. The Vanilla swiss roll were too much cream. The cream to cake ratio is like 70/20. My mom like the rice cake balls, so unless is for her, I won't bother coming to this bakery again.
