We went there this morning to pick up a raisin challah - we were making French Toast! The challah is excellent - rich, soft and sweet, it has a tender, delicious taste. The raisins added an extra touch of sweetness to the French Toast. Then there are the numerous pastries and cookies. We decided to get a few Hamentashen (chocolate and poppy), a raspberry croissant, a chocolate and a raspberry rugelach, and the most amazing looking Sticky Bun. I'll start with the Sticky Bun. It was exceptional; a soft, fluffy, and slightly chewy dough - challah like, but denser. It was laced with a sticky, caramelized glaze, studded with raisins and walnuts. It was 'melt in your mouth delicious', and a must try. Next up - the raspberry croissant. This is not your typical croissant - I'm used to the plain, or chocolate - I can't recall having a raspberry croissant before. It's one of the best I've had. It combines a flaky buttery croissant with a sweet, tart raspberry filling. The Hamentashen were good - the chocolate was better than the poppyseed - as the later needed much more Mohn (poppyseed paste). The rugelach was good; the raspberry was too sticky, but the chocolate was fine. If you're near Elkins Park, and you haven't tried Rolings Bakery, it's time you did!

Typically, I never really liked the lighter texture, as I've had all different kinds. My favorite is a plain cheesecake with a sour cream frosting. However, the taste of this cheesecake was superb - it was rich and flavorful - not too sweet. The deliciousness of the cheesecake compensated for its lighter texture. It was a nice surprise to have such an excellent tasting cheesecake so close by!

Banana Nana opened its store in Jenkintown almost two years ago. It's been embraced by the community; my partner and I have been enjoying multiple seasonal flavors since it opened. Growing up, we only had 'Jello' brand pudding - I can't remember ever having homemade pudding. It was a pleasant surprise to see a pudding store opening in our neighborhood. Today, we got the OG Classic, Blueberry Lemon, Banana Split and Black Forest. The Black Forest combines the signature chocolate pudding, with rich chocolate cake and cherry puree. It has a chocolate drizzle on top as well which adds a great texture to the pudding. The next pudding, the OG Classic is vanilla pudding layered with vanilla wafers, fresh sliced bananas and a delicious crumble. It was my partner's favorite! My favorite was the Lemon Blueberry, a creamy banana pudding layered with fresh blueberries, a zesty lemon flavor, buttery vanilla wafers and a sweet lemon crumble topping. The last pudding, the Banana Split, was the signature vanilla pudding, layered with fresh pineapple, banana and graham cracker crumble.
