If you've never had a mochi ring donut, it's deep fried like a regular yeast donut, but made with tapioca/rice flour, which gives them a more springy consistency and slightly different flavor. (That description doesn't feel quite right... you just have to try them to understand). The icings are also better than average donut shops because they have things like yuzu, black sesame, and taro. They also have more traditional icings like strawberry or Nutella, but super-flavorful. To add icing to all of the icing you'll already have, they serve really great bubble tea. Oh emmm gee, this place is delicious. I never had donuts quite like this before. The donuts had this chewy texture to it that can't quite be described in words. We ordered a half dozen of different flavors (matcha, strawberry, black sugar, black sesame, taro, and cookies n cream). I really enjoyed them all. The ube flavor was a little weak compared to the other donuts. The other donuts, I could probably blindfold myself and know what flavor it was, but I can't say the same for ube. So saw this place on Fox News in the morning when they have local businesses promoting there business and saw that it was in Jenkintown and being familiar with the area and wanting to try these mochi donuts it was a no brainer to come by. The inside is very clean and pretty much a pick up joint being it's pretty small. Overall, the place was great, I just think they are short-staffed and being so busy it was unfortunate that we could not try more mochi donut flavors. The donuts taste like any other typical donut except for the fact it's made with mochi which is a Japanese rice cake making the donuts a bit more chewy in a good way! Flavor is good and so is the service :) my only problem is that the mochi donuts are a bit stale/dry due to the way they are stored - which affects the texture because mochi donuts are supposed to be soft and chewy to bite... not dry and dense from staling. They were also a bit cold but that doesn't bother me as much as the texture. My recommendation is change the way the mochi donuts are stored so the dough can retain its moisture and chewiness. Another mochi bakery I go to keep their donuts individually wrapped in plastic and it maintains the perfect chewiness that made me fall in love with mochi donuts to begin with. read more
