After waiting over 20 minutes for our food I noticed that a couple who got seated 30 minutes after we did was already eating & we still didn't have our food! Our waitress was really nice. We spoke to the manager that was in charge she let us know that because of the new years they were understaffed and then we asked who the 2 men in the restaurant were since it looked like they worked there but the whole time they were either in their phones or jus talking to each other but never helping the restaurant staff or the clients and she said it was the general manager and some other big boss from maglen and we told her that the 2 guys there were just a waste of space and were there just taking up a paycheck because they weren't helpful at all! We made sure we tipped the waitress since she did a good job. But the service here is horrible!

Also the wait time for your food is looking like 30 ish minutes or more. The staff was nice but the three times we went it's as if they are not use to the amount of people that come in. We were a party of 10 and the food was coming out in 10 minutes intervals mind you not all 10 people ordered food. A friend ordered coffee de la olla and took 15 minutes. But i will say their portions are decent and the food was pretty good. But again keep all of what i said about using their currency instead of your countries own.

Monte Xanic walked us through every pour like a warm hug. Bruma is too cool and too artsy for any of that. Both are good! Just know what you're walking into. Bruma makes a really damn good glass of wine, and they make you go underground for it. The tasting is in a dark, quiet cellar that turns out to be the perfect place to actually pay attention to what's in your glass. And what's in there has personality. Real personality. The winery itself is moody and artistic in the very best way, built around a 300-year-old oak tree (which, fine, show off). Then you step outside and the grounds are STUNNING. So stunning that we wandered for an hour and decided to stay for dinner. Separate review coming. Four stars and not five because of the service during the tasting. Nobody was rude, everyone was perfectly nice, but they were also barely there. For a tasting, where the whole point is to learn what you're drinking, that's a miss. Worth the trip. Just bring a friend who knows wine, in case nobody else volunteers.

I enjoy the dirt roads and would not come down here if all the roads were paved. The tasting room is small and cozy. The staff is relatively friendly. It would be nice if the staff would engage a bit more. I'm always Interested in learning new info in a foreign country, but it felt like I had to force the information from the staff. The wine tastings are quite expensive at $35 or $700 pesos and the wine will not blow you away. The rose was nearly undrinkable, super sweet. The white and reds were much better. The tasting room is filled with odd mediocre skin care products. They do have a nice small outside playground for the kids. My family actually stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were clean, but the room was oddly shaped. No dinning table, instead they had 2 patio chairs and a small side table. The did have a hot tub/ spa, but had to get security to turn the heat on. It took several hours to heat up. The security guard was the most welcoming staff member and let us know that he was around if we needed anything. Breakfast was included with the stay and was tasty. The coffee bar had powdered creamer from Smart & Final. I'm not sure how difficult it is to have real creamer, but for a nice upscale boutique B&B, I expect it. There is a nice hiking trail on the back of the property that takes you up the hill and you have a great view of Valle. THE WORST PART OF STAYING HERE... was the last night, the winery had a Party with absurdly loud DJ music lasted till at least midnight. Not once did the winery reach out and warn me of the noise problem that would interfere with my relaxing weekend. I'm not sure if I would come back or recommend to others.

This place is located in the Valle de Guadalupe, Baja Mexico. I wasn't always a fan of the wine…read morefrom this area. But over the last two decades they have made large strides in quality with new modernization techniques. Besides all of the wine makers that have been here for generations, others (Spain, France, and Italy) from around the world have joined in wine making in the area. The area has all of the basic ingredients (proper climate and soil) needed to make great wine. The area sits in the same latitude as the great wine making areas of the Mediterranean. As a result, now I am a big fan of the area's wine. Now many compare the area to Tuscany Italia before the big tourist rush occurred. The greater area is also home to many Michelin rated restaurants with a great ocean/farm to table menu (carta). Organic and sustainability are fully represented in restaurants as well. If you love seafood, then this place is heaven because of the abundance of fresh seafood from both the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific. I predict that once the new airport in Ensenada is built then this place is going to explode with tourism. Currently, having to fly into Tijuana then take a bus or private transport has been the only way to reach this area from most places in the US with the exception of southern California. People in southern California are lucky enough to drive down for a weekend because it's just that close to them. It's the equivalent of people from Chicago spending a weekend in wine country in Michigan, Indiana, or Wisconsin. In all honesty there is no comparison because most wine in the Midwest is mediocre at best. The problem in the Midwest is the climate extremes which are not suitable to most popular wine varietals. Even when I do find wine from the Midwest that I like, it usually has at least $50-$60 price tag. At a typical grocery store in Spain or Portugal very good bottle of wine is sometimes cheaper than a bottle of water! Under $10 a bottle pricing gets you very good wine, above that you can have even better quality. The winery is beautiful even in the winter. I like to visit in the winter because although it's not super warm here, I go from wearing a winter jacket to wearing a light jacket or sweater. The nights can drop into the 40s which is still much better than a winter polar vortex back home. There is a lot less people, therefore, I can also get into the best restaurants in the area. My rental flat had absolutely no neighbors until the last day when it was time to leave. The isolation was very nice because the grounds are beautiful and very full of life. A huge assortment of birds make this their winter getaway from the harsh winters up north. Citrus fruit was in season down here and the neighboring property had an orchard of trees filled with oranges. The property has a few nice pathways to walk after mealtimes. I also enjoyed the outdoor wine tour which explores the different varietals fields with an enthusiastic guide that was quick witted with jokes. The wine pourings that accommodate the tour were delicious and wisely chosen. I also opted to take the wine cave tour right after the outside tour. How was the cave tour? It was disappointing and frustrating. First of all, as I patiently waited to be taken down to the cave from their gift shop area they forgot about me. They have a list of who is supposed to go down and yet they still went down without everyone?!? Finally a cashier notices that I'm just walking around not shopping and asked me if I was waiting for someone. I told him that I was waiting for the cave tour to begin. He got a hold of the tour guide who had already gone down with some of the group and he came up to retrieve us. Those that were already in the cave, already had been served food that was optional to order with the tasting. After several pourings in the previous tour, yes, I was ready to have some food to lessen the impact of more pourings. Also, they had a nice selection of items that would complement the pourings. Somehow, they forgot about me again, and I noticed others were getting a different presentation than I was on the same tour. Okay, now a sense of frustration is overcoming me and I mention the oversights to the guide. He lied to me and told me that the others had a different level of wine tasting. This disorganized tour was also set up backwards because there should have been a walking tour of the fermentation area first then tastings afterwards. Besides the bad cave tour that I definitely don't recommend. Everything else was great with the exception of the cold washroom on cold nights. They have very nice employees, beautiful grounds, very good breakfast, and a great dinner restaurant called Latitude on the property. Would I come back? Yes, because besides a few frustrating moments the rest was great.

They do have a "Michelin rated" restaurant inside the building, curious to see what the service there is. Overall, i would say there are so many other wineries around Valle de Guadalupe that offer better services/food and drinks.

I was thrilled to see an email on Saturday saying we were welcome for the 2nd tasting of the day and then filled with panic as I saw when it was sent, didn't have service and that time was quickly approaching. Thankfully i got wifi, replied that we would love to be there, got a reply saying we were good to go and off we went. I will thank our luck a large amount on the weather as many people cancelled due to pouring rain and flooded roads. The roads are rough, especially in the rain so a larger vehicle or a tour driver would definitely be beneficial but we made it happen. Upon arrival we were greeted with hugs, conversation, drinks and blankets and it honestly felt like we just showed up to the home of a family member. With the weather, it ended up just being the two of us and another couple who drove out for the day and previously was married at the vineyard which made for the most intimate afternoon tasting. My fiancé (oh that's still weird to say haha) is not really a wine drinker and I don't usually drinks reds but we both loved all 3 years of the tasting and the tapas that come with each were so delicious. One of the pairings was a taco with meat that I don't eat so I gave it to him and was more than thankful when Hilda noticed and asked her team to make a potato taco for me to take part. With the impeccable vibes, Carlos decided this was the right time and place and completely unbeknownst to me he had let James and Hilda know about his plan and they assisted in the greatest intimate proposal I could have ever dreamed of, rain and chilly temperatures and all. After our tasting we all spoke around the table like we had known each other for years and it really was the most special day and experience I could have ever asked for. We will definitely be back sooner than later, especially since we both fell in love with not only the humans on site but vineyard good boy Corcho. Thank you both for your hospitality, I honestly can't express it enough.
