I ordered my 25th birthday cake from Das Meyer! Everyone was patient and kind to me when I went in and took 20 minutes to pick a cake flavor and design because I was indecisive (seriously they have so many great flavors and a way to customize what ever you want!!!) When I picked up my cake it was absolutely stunning with a snowflake design and on top of that it tasted amazing!! I will not get a birthday cake from anywhere else every again. Thanks Das Meyer! I brought in photos of what I wanted my wedding cake to look like and they did a good job, for the most part, imitating it. Das Meyer definitely makes good cakes, but that's only part of the overall package. The other -- more critical -- part is how well they treat their customers and they are sufficiently lacking in this area. Our wedding was a year ago and we had ordered three different cakes for a non-traditional ceremony. We were informed that Das Meyer (like most wedding cake shops) would provide a free cake on our first anniversary. So, we called them to order it and the girl indicated they had no record of our order. She checked under other names, but was unable to locate it. I found a payment to Das Meyer for $143.31 on my bank statement and she indicated that they would make the cake and asked that I just bring the statement in. No problem. About 30 minutes later the manager called and said they would not be making the anniversary cake because they had no record of the original order and that the bank statement would not suffice. Plus, she said that their cakes started at $180.00 (seeming to suggest that I was lying). After some back and forth, she explained that she was "sorry", but still refused to make the cake. A few things here: (1) A simple anniversary cake would not cost that much for them to provide. (2) I had proof of a payment, though not the original receipt (why would I save that for a year?) (3) A little effort on their part could have made for a "tremendous" experience for the customer. In this industry, customer service is extremely important and they failed to deliver. I would never do business with Das Meyer again and will not recommend them. You can find cakes just as good at a place that offers stellar customer service. read more

I have never been so disappointed in a company. My mom's 50th birthday celebration is this Saturday. I ordered a custom cake from Dasmeyer on 4/28 and was just informed today (5/8) that they are unable to make it. I received a phone call from some lady that acted like "oops.... Sorry" she did not try to make it right. I have used this bakery for years, (4)weddings, (3) birthdays and for many holidays totaling thousands of dollars. I will never use or refer anyone to them ever again. If they treat a year long customer like this who knows how they will treat a new one. Das Meyer made the cake for our wedding, and it was fantastic! It looked great and it tasted fabulous! Although I wanted it to look nice, it was very important to me that it tasted good, so I decided against fondant, which looks beautiful, but tastes horrible, and went with three cake flavors: chocolate lovers, strawberries & champagne, and creme brulee with butter cream frosting. Compared to other bakeries that we visited, it was very reasonable, and more laid back. They have a free cake tasting every Saturday morning, so it made it really easy to stop by and make a decision in a low pressure environment. I highly recommend this place. read more

I love discovering little places like these. I came in with my wife and eight year old daughter. The setting is very cute and inviting and the cakes on display are beautiful. Everything is made in house and tastes that way including the terrific eclairs and cheesecake bars that we ordered. Nothing overtly sweet or artificial in flavor. Bring cash because that's all they take. The personnel are very friendly and sincere in tone and they only make certain items on certain days so you'll just have to keep coming back (I know we will). read more

I've tasted a few cakes from them in the past, pretty good. Went this past weekend to pick up bread for a coworker. The place was so sweet smelling, and it was pretty busy on a saturday afternoon. I bought a sweet pretzel to go as well. My husband and I both agreed that it tasted like a toasted buttermilk eggo waffle with butter and honey with a few almonds on top. So a $3 eggo, not what I was hoping for. My coworker let me taste the apple cinnamon raisin bread, which was pretty dry and the cranberry orange bread which was a little more moist but still not consistency I wanted. The orange marmalade they used tasted yummy though. So far it's a 3 star place. I will try a quiche next time, maybe savory will be more my thing. I still prefer Taste of Denmark for sweet pastries. read more

The older gentleman there is awesome and always helps us to make each occasion the very best with his delicious cakes. So where do I begin, my husband called today asked if we had time to place a cake order for the 14th, specified it was a tiered custom cake, they said yes. We go in said what date she opens her book and starts taking our order, as we explained what we wanted for our 6 year olds birthday she snickered and then went back in the back saying we'll we may be to busy for another cake order, after getting ready to take our order originally and we were well within there 7 day cake order policy she refuses to help us claiming they were too busy, when all she had to say was we are not capable of less more than simple designs on a child's cake, so dissapointed, not to mention they only take checks or cash, have fun getting screwed when people's checks bounce, needless to say this was our first time there was highly recommended by our sitter and all we got was lies and dissapointment. read more

WOW! Das Meyer was packed for the tasting, but, as we discovered, it's because they are really the BEST!! We tried cakes at other bakeries, but none of them even came close to the taste AND the customer service at Das Meyer. The people at this family business are truly friendly, accomodating, and so creative. We took in a picture of what we thought we wanted, but when we saw the amazing creations that they make we decided right then and there to change it, Not only did they deliver exactly what we ordered for our wedding, but everyone commented on how moist and flavorful it was. The first time I had Das Meyer was at a friend's birthday party. I had picked up the cake for him, and it was an elaborate chocolate strawberry round cake with all sorts of amazing decorations. I don't think I was that impressed with the cake at that time. Fast forward about a year and a half and now we were picking up cakes for that same friend's kid's birthday. My boyfriend couldn't resist getting a croissant pastry filled with ham, cheese, and mushrooms. It was divine. Flaky, warm, and delicious! My friend had ordered two cakes. One was a chocolate cake, with fudge and a truffle layer in between, and the other was a yellow cake with berries and amazing custard. I loved both cakes, but the chocolate one won me over completely. The decorations were great, just as before. This place only accepts cash or check, so make sure you stop at an ATM first. It is a cute place that is always packed with people! Overall, a cute place that I'm sure I will see again while I'm still in Denver. read more

Das Meyer has great customer service. They are almost always able to take our orders even a week before we need the cakes. They customize everything - size, flavors, fillings, frosting and decorations. They make the most beautiful frosting/fondant flowers and they always please everyone at the party. Their cake flavors are delicious and taste so fresh. Their pricing is unbeatable especially as bakeries pop up around Denver - you can not find a delicious cake that will feed 100 people for under $100 anywhere else. read more

The only thing I wish they would have done differently is to inform me that the Super Fudgy (I don't remeber what they called it exactly) cake I ordered would be covered in chocolate fondant. It was absolutely gorgeous, but I love buttercream and ganache and HATE fondant... From cake tasting to returning our cake stand after the wedding, Das Meyer was great to work with. We got a cake for our October 2016 wedding from them as part of our package at our venue. They were willing to include a gluten free cheesecake as the top tier at no extra charge, as my husband has celiac disease, and explained how the tiers were separated so we felt comfortable about cross contamination. The cake itself was absolutely delicious - I'm still hearing about it from our guests! It looked exactly as we pictured, and they were easy to work with though we live out of state. We used Das Meyer for our wedding 12 years ago and the cake was great. But, I have tried to get a similar cake multiple times during these last 12 years for our anniversary. They are either on a vacation, or as in this year on a vacation so long that they had no availability after re opening. today I went in to get any cake regardless of the flavor or style. They did not have any extra pastries available. Only about 10 in the case and all personalized. Wow!! For a bakery, they don't have much availability for those wanting to purchase cakes! What's more, their whole attitude is one of extreme snobby lack of concern. They are great for that one time wedding that you schedule a year in advance and they get $400, but if you are happily married and just want to celebrate and remember your wedding, they are not interested. ------Go to Taste of Denmark!!!----- The pastry chef there is world renowned and makes Das Meyer taste like a beginners school. Das Meyer did our wedding cake last month - and it was absolutely perfect! One of our friends recommended them - and knowing her style, I thought they would be WAY out of our price range - but found that to be NOT true. By sticking to the basic flavors - you can easily get a cake for 125 guests for under $500. However, after going to a few cake tastings (Free on Saturdays from 10a-3pm), we HAD to go with the specialty flavors. We chose peanut butter, midnight orange, and berries in a cloud for our three flavors. AND to top that off - I made a request to add peaches to the berries in a cloud - seeing as how our wedding was right in the middle of Colorado's amazing peach season - and they were able to do it, making it SO great. Additionally - I am a pretty indecisive person, and kept changing my mind on the design of the cake. The ladies at Das Meyer were incredibly helpful in finalizing the design, as well as flexible: we didn't make a final decision until 2 weeks before the wedding! We couldn't have been happier with how it turned out - even though neither the groom nor myself got to eat any of the cake (that's how good it was) at the actual reception, so we're really looking forward to our complimentary 6in round cake for our one year anniversary. Do not get the marbel is one word of advice . I wish someone had told me that . I had never had one of their cakes before and had such high hopes from what I heard. I do say the cake looked great, but was greatly disappointed when I ate it. It was very dry. Everyone at the party was not able to finish the piece of cake. Chew bite drink something, chew bite. When I brought the cake back to store the very same day and I showed my great disappointment, the das Meyer was not willing to do anything about it. That is a very expensive $90 that got throw in the trash. I definitely am not one for throwing "Benjamins" into the trash. read more
