Food was excellent. Unlike the weird restaurant right next door selling the same menu but more expensive and smelt like old mop water. Anyhow; I'll start with the service: Miss T was excellent. Old school straight to the point followed by a smile.the younger y'all girl with dark hair took our drink order and appetizer order, T followed up with our dinner order. My lady had the red fish special. We heard "last red fish for the night" after she ordered hers. From the looks of it it was an iqf (individually quality frozen) being that it was a perfect 5-6oz portion but cooked perfectly and the sauce and pasta were great. Crab stuffing stuffed mushrooms were ok nothin to write home about but still solid and good. Side salad was crisp and fresh. Got our own bottle of ranch and the ranch was ice cold and nice to have our own squeeze bottle to use as much as we would like. Sweet tea was fresh sweet and ice cold. Hamburger steak was great. Had it with French fries. Both ironically were not seasoned at all but I added salt and pepper like a big boy with some Louisiana hot sauce and it was on point. Big portion. Almost a pound burger smothered with grilled onions and brown gravy(not homemade) but doctored up enough to make it tasty. The girls did a great job and backing each other up. As a professional chef I am very hard to impress. Very very picky about my food. Y'all did a great job. I'll be back from Slidell LA next week for an omlete and some fried fish. Great job. Well done. Great plate lunch place. Huge servings, super prices and delicious!! Fried fish with jambalaya was fantastic. Two large pieces of catfish, fried to perfection and tasty jambalaya with a good amount of meat. My husband had bbq chicken, homemade mac and cheese and peas. They offered 8-10 dishes, all if which sounded appealing. Very casual, Not much atmosphere but the food carried the day. This place doesn't look like much from outside but man its a hidden gem. Sweet friendly staff with a make yourself at home vibe. Food is priced $6 to $12 and portion are large and very filling. We got cheese stick, kids fish, burger plate, seafood gumbo plate, side of seafood squash and drinks all cost $30 for family of 4. Yes, $30 for fresh seafood! Fish was huge full fluffy pieces. Seafood squash was delicious. Seafood gumbo was dark roux & good base very great favor loved it, one of best seafood gumbos I've had. Hamburger was huge a bit bland but $6.95 for 10oz. Burger, fry and drink = great meal/deal. When ordering we asked about Jambalaya but decided not to get it, the owner who was very friendly after food arrived he came out gave us free cup to try after he seen we decided not to get it. Wow!! I was a little skeptical when I walked in. The atmosphere was a little scary. However, the waitress made me feel right at home. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time. Appetizer- I had the onion rings. I ordered the large order and I don't regret it. They were so flakey and crispy. Perfect amount of spice. I got the fried oyster po'boy for my entree. That thing was massive. But what I really loved was that the oysters had the perfect saltiness after being fried. And their French bread was very fresh. Delicious every time. I love their breakfast, delicious and affordable. (I love the hadhbrowns w/ over medium eggs) If you have a little more to spend, you gotta try the Kajun Katrina for lunch/dinner. They put copious amounts of their delicious corn crab and crawfish bisque on top of fried catfish on a bed of rice. Not a single bite was dry, and there was plenty of flavorful fish. This place is awesome drove from New Orleans and I am a big boy and I had to get a to go box. I had the bar b q shrimp as an app OMG! it was so good! Then I got the chicken fricassee (think spelled correct) it was so much and so good! My girlfriend got the pork chops and she took half of it home it was so much. A very family oriented restaurant which I loved. Also loved the friendly service and attitude of the employees. We never had to wait for refills which I am very picky about. We will absolutely return and enjoy this amazing food and hospitality again. read more
