The food was good and nice portion sizes. The staff left a lot to be desired if you're not a regular. The two young girls working front of the house had nothing to say unless they know you. This became obvious as their regulars came in. They never checked in us for drinks, or if we needed anything. I'm not sure we'll back anytime soon. read more

My wife and I like to visit local restaurants when we travel to get local food and exposure. This past week we traveled through Waveland and stopped at Dat Kitchen Too for breakfast. After getting coffee and finally ordering when waitress stopped by we ended up waiting over a half hour before waitress came by and said they had lost our order ticket. She said she put it right back in. After seeing 3 other tables get their orders, I got up and went to the counter and cancelled our order. The only good thing was they did not charge for the coffee. We ended up wasting over an hour there and never did get breakfast in a place that was not crowded but did look to have all local folk except for us. Not a good welcome to this restaurant or city. read more

HUGE portions on the poboys. You had better bring an appetite. We started with the fantastic crab balls and then I had the shrimp Pinot and my wife the roast beef. The shrimp were hot and fresh and the French loaf was wonderful. Definite must stop if you are looking for good seafood. Now, the crab balls deserve a review of their own. In a word....fantastic. Excellent flavor and taste of fresh crab but the sauce was the true star. White shrimp sauce over the crab balls made this a truly memorable dish. Worth going just to order this. read more

Usually go here for lunch. Dinner is much different. I recommend if your into great customer service. Go during the day. I never received any offers for more catfish and I had the ALL YOU CAN EAT FISH dinner meal.... the food is good and I wouldn't have wanted more but just good customer service especially for a customer who ordered all you can eat. read more

Unassuming from the outside, this is the best local mom and pop place if you're in the area! Perfect place to get some New Orleans cooking while you're in Mississippi. We stopped in at lunch time and the first good sign was that the parking lot was packed. When we walked in it was hopping inside! This is a place loved by the locals. We found that they have great lunch specials, but everything is reasonably priced anyway. You can get everything from red beans and rice to gumbo. I ordered a shrimp poboy and wow - I've never had one that was so fresh and flavorful. You order at the counter and the servers bring the food out to your table. I had jambalaya with 2 piece fish. It was very good. Jambalaya was seasoned well and fish was a mild white fish fried just right. My husband had open faced roast beef, green beans & mashed potatoes. He said it was good. Ordered at the counter and waited for people in front of us. Wish they had known what they wanted before they went up to order. Food came out fast and wait staff checked on us. This is a Highway 90, Waveland restaurant, typical of those you may pass up in favor of those chain restaurants or fast food places. Do yourself a favor and don't pass this place, stop by and try it. This is comfort food prepared similarly to Des Alleman, Louisiana, Creole style. Nothing fancy but you will leave knowing you ate a good meal. As far as atmosphere, this is a working class restaurant with a staff use to handling working class people. Food is fresh. Hit up this spot with a friend after our day at Waveland Beach. Convenient location right off the highway. We ordered takeout over the phone and it was ready in 30 minutes. The fried shrimp plate was great and crispy, though the fries could've used a little bit of seasoning. The crazy Cajun pasta was an amazing deal, considering it included plenty of pasta, blackened catfish, and mini crab cakes. The pasta sauce was amazingly creamy and delicious. My family and I found this place the first night we camped at the nearby state park and ate here the next morning for breakfast and again for supper! 3 times in 2 days! The food was hot and full of flavor! The pork chops are huge and delicious, the grilled fish was great and the veggies were sooo good! If you want southern cooking, this is the place. And the prices! This quite likely the best place for a great good tasting meal on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Whoever heard of a full breakfast for $4.99 WITH coffee? This is a great local restaurant. The food, service and ambiance were less than minimal. I ordered a hot roast beef sandwich. The meat was like plastic...slick and smooth. The meat had no taste nd the texture was disgusting. Im still trying to figure out how you ruin mashed potatoes. The meal seemed reasonably priced, but after the experience I wouldnt price it at a $1. Its basically on the level with old truck stops...something just thrown on a plate. The restaurant was recommended, but I cannot do the same. read more

Tried a shrimp poboy. Lots of shrimp on almost perfect bread. My only criticism is that I thought the shrimp did not have much flavor. Everyone in the place was eating a seafood poboy or plate. However, I had company in for weekend and raved about their delicious onion rings. Sadly, the staff practically ignored us and was more busy chatting on their phone and amongst themselves. This place was packed with locals. That's how you know it's going to be good. Their fried shrimp po-boy is huge! The fried shrimp are tiny to mid size, but they pile them on this sandwich. I got my po-boy dressed with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. The po-boy bread was a little soft for me, but the sandwich was delicious. The shrimp were fried just right. Have been here on several occasions for lunch, breakfast and grabbed takeout once. Have never been disappointed. Breakfast is extremely busy! Nothing fancy about the menu, just good home cooking and it comes out fast and hot! I had the biscuits, scrambled eggs and bacon. For dinner we've had the catfish, shrimp jambalaya with catfish plate. I think their catfish is delicious. Take out was ready within fifteen minutes and the order was spot on! They close at 8, but the internet says they close at 9:00. There were only a few other occupied tables, so it wasn't busy. The service was great and the waitress promptly brought refills. The food is good old country cooking, just as advertised. My husband got the shrimp po'boy and loved it. Plenty of shrimp and good fries. What more do you need? I got the liver and onions and it was delicious! It's SO hard to find this on menus these days and I was tickled to see it here. The mashed potatoes were fantastic, as were the green beans. Definitely home made. The salad that came with the dinner was a little lackluster. Iceberg lettuce, a cherry tomato, and a slice of cucumber. It was a little bland, even with the ranch dressing.
