Talk about a hidden gem...arrived here for a Saturday lunch on our way to somewhere else we had chosen for lunch. Had to make a u-turn, and seeing them right across from the u-turn, decided to give it a try. In the parking lot of a small local hotel with LOTS of pickup trucks in the parking lot (usually a good sign), we went. Seated immediately in a surprisingly spacious well lit, comfortable interior. Lots of tables already filled. Drink orders were taken and brought quickly. Took us much more than a minute to make a decision, but we had a very patient server. I opted for a cup of the Crab & Corn Bisque with a crab finger appetizer for my meal. Husband went with catfish plate with hush puppies, onion rings & baked macaroni. The bisque was unlike any other I have ever tasted; it was complex, lacking potato chunks (this is a good thing) and simply delicious! I could not put my finger on the difference, but man, it's a must try! Crab fingers were plentiful, cooked just right with lots of meat. Husband's catfish had good flavor, hush puppies were fine and onion rings were onion rings. I have to admit - I would have eaten a whole tray of that baked macaroni if someone let me. Incredible meal and experience. Shoutout to Mary for the best service. Crawfish and oysters were outstanding. Crawfish were piping hot and seasoned well. Oysters were huge and cold, served with crackers and any sauce you could think of. Snapper was very tasty but would not get again over the crawfish or oysters. Eggplant napoleon was delicious as well as the crab cakes and noodles that came with it, and was huge. Could probably last for 3 or more meals. We went two months ago and I gave it 5 stars. We went again yesterday and I was embarrassed to bring my grandchildren. My husband and I raved about how great it was when just he and I went. I don't know if it was a holiday weekend or what but other than the $8 shrimp poboy, it was not great. Who runs out of pasta when there are many pasta dishes on your menu. A store is right down the road. Don't have crabs on your menu if there are no crabs. Don't put mayo on a sandwich when they ask for no mayo and then scrap what shrimp is not left in the mayo into a new piece of bread and not add new ones to where you scraped the mayo ones off. Did you think we couldn't tell? The sandwich wasn't full. The macaroni and cheese which is your special was not even heated. It was scrapped out of the container it was made in and put in serving bowls. The cheese wasn't even melted. Again. It was embarrassing. I'm not sure now if we will be back. For the entree we split the mixed seafood boat which is fried shrimp, oysters, fish, seasoned French fries and onions served in an entire loaf of fresh baked bread coated in butter. This item is a little pricey but could easily feed 4 people with leftovers. We also had the fried green tomatoes appetizer. I thought the large amount of sauce would possibly make the tomatoes soggy but they were nice and crispy. I think the tomatoes could stand on their own without all the sauce and other toppings, but overall pretty yummy. This portion was also huge! They are back! Yesterday my wife and I returned for the first time since the craziness of 2020. All three dishes we had were outstanding (as before 2020). We shared a cup of corn bisque, a fried catfish platter, and a platter of fried shrimp in alfredo sauce over angel hair pasta. Too much to eat and too good to leave. Total cost $33. We had plenty to bring home for another "super good" meal.
