Delicious date shakes. Not sure if their claim as having the best date shakes in the world is true or not as this was the only date shake I have ever had , but it sure was tasty. Not a lot of sweeteners added was perfect for us. Will definitely make this a regular stop on future trips between Phoenix and San Diego just for the shakes. read more

Date shake was tasty, super creamy and the shop was in the right place for a break in our travels!

Be prepared to wait for your shake if the service center is busy like around noon -3pm. Date shake was well worth the wait and because, as other reviewers have noted, these shakes are super thick our medium lasted and stayed cold most of the way from Yuma to Phoenix. We also bought a small bag of dates which I will freeze and use in shakes and baking. Oh and we could not resist getting some date cookies to snack on during our trip (and a treat for after dinner). We got the date/peanut butter and the date/oatmeal, both were very good keeping in mind that I am a hypercritical cookie fanatic. I would highly recommend a stop for the shake alone though, no need to go as date cuckoo as we did. read more

Delicious date shake served in a unassuming white cup ( therefore no photo of the shake :)) They also have date ice cream as well as several other flavored shakes if date shakes are not your thing ( though I highly recommend you try it- you just may like it). read more

Driving to San Diego and this was listed as a must. The date shake here is supposed to be the second best in the US. I figured I would not like it but why not try. We ordered the large shake and two oatmeal date cookies. The date shake is not for the car. We stood there with our spoons snd this is perhaps the best shake I've ever had. The oatmeal cookie is good but my wife loves oatmeal and she says it's fantastic. read more

Literally came here on a whim on our drive back from Arizona to San Diego because this was on the border. I heard that dates and a date shake is a must-try in Arizona so we had to make this stop! My husband and I tried the date ice cream and the date shake and man that shake was good! Ice cream was too strong in date flavor so we wouldn't be able to finish a whole scoop. Good for a taste. That Date Shake was really good, and I could totally have finished the entire thing myself without sharing with my husband. Only downside was that I knew it had a lot of sugar so I controlled on the portion size there. Thickness was just right and didn't really give a brain freeze or anything like that. The store also had a really huge variety of dates - types I haven't even heard of - but I ended up buying the Medjool Dates after the guy working they told me those were the best kind. It's been awhile since I've had dates and these were so soft and fresh! I've heard how some can be really hard but these were perfect. I wouldn't mind going for another trip just to buy some more dates to take for my mom to India, because she is a major date fan! I also bought a souvenir shot glass from here. Great little spot to stop for a treat to AZ or back to Cali! We came on a Sunday around 5pm (and they were open even though Yelp says they aren't). Fairly empty, plenty of parking and they even have Tesla chargers. We got 2 medium shakes, one date and I got date with chocolate. The consistency was PERFECT. You can actually drink it from the straw and it was still icy cold. You get little pieces of date as you drink it. Ligh flavor of date which is just sweet and kinda nutty. I originally got a small but they have me and medium and I'm kinda glad they did cause it was so good! Description...20 ish, heavy set Hispanic female, large round eyes. I used facilities, thank you, and left without a purchase. This place was nice. I stopped on my way from San Diego to phoenix. The date shake was good but I didn't like that there was still pieces of the skin in the shake with every sip. But I can see how some might love this. They also didn't have Oreo shakes. Service however was fantastic, everyone there was so sweet. read more

If you like dates this is the place. They have a huge variety. Also, a huge selection of hot sauces. I bought some spicy pickled quail eggs which you can't find everywhere and they are delicious. When I forgot my reading specs at home these folks sold replacements. They have an ice cream parlor with date shakes and they serve pizza. I like this place. Would I recommend the Dateland Travel Center? Absolutely! The gift shop has recently changed managers resulting in a much more welcoming experience. The whole vibe of the store has tremendously improved. The merchandise isn't mainly tailored for the elderly winter travelers anymore allowing a positive browsing adventure for all ages. read more

I am so glad I stopped here!! I eat a lot of dates. The medjool dates at Dateland are without a doubt the BEST dates I have ever had. They were juicy, plump, and amazingly flavorful! I removed one star because I had a 5lb box sent to me this week and they were all dry and shriveled. :( For $50+ I would have expected them to be at least almost as good as the ones I had a week ago when I was in AZ. Perhaps if I ordered just one or two pounds, they would have come plump and juicy in a sealed bag. On the plus side, they only took 3 days to get here from the day I placed the order :) Next time I'm in AZ, I will happily visit Dateland again! read more
